4-0 out of 5 stars My favorite fibro book!
I was diagnosed nearly 8 years ago so I am no novice concerning fibro.I have half a dozen books which have guided my progress in learning how to live with the "syndrome" [it can't be called a disease until they figure out what causes it, how about THAT].I love this book.It isn't the most basic, but it is the most easy to read and use.Lots of very practial tips that the author has used herself or has been told about by real fibro sufferers. She understands and she offers hope.We can lead full and happy lives and she shows the way.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Fibromyalgia Relief Book: 213 Ideas for Improving Your Quality of Life
Since being diagnosed with fibromyalgia, I have searched for books that advise and explain the condition. I have used the library and bookstores to narrow the choices down for purchase. The author of this book has fibromyalgia and is a leader in educating everyone about it.The practical advice is sound and always reassuring.I purchased 2 copies of this book.I bought the second one for a co-worker I suspect has fibromyalgia. That's how inpressed I am with this author.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pain relief
This book was extremely helpful in finding alternative ways to relieve pain and increase mental power over the negative emotions related to Fibro.I plan to refer to it from time to time to keep my perspective.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best investment ever!
Having been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 1996 I would not have expected to learn boatloads of material from this book. But, much to my surprise, and with the giant library of FMS literature already owned, I DID learn more than a boatload, of knowledge! I was hoping to learn a few new facts here and there. I sat down and flipped it open to see what the inside was like, and to my astonishment, I found I could not stop long enough to start reading at the beginning of that chapter let alone the beginning of the book. I could not believe that I could have learned so much information after all this time. I have been a host in a support chat for years and still found I missed out on vital tips and information. The greatest part about this, well one of them, was when Dr. Williamson discussed a topic that is a problem to most, then she also had a positive reaction to the situation. I was thrilled to read ideas to help some of the topics I couldn't find help with for years! One of the best ideas in this book, that is missing in many, is a Resources Section, one written in common English! I have already started to use the resources today. I called for some catalogs for items that I didn't know where to find nor from companies that I knew nothing about.
This book is not for the newly diagnosed or nearly new but it is for EVERY person, male or female, adult or child/teen. I even recommend this book for the family or friends that give support to a person with FMS, I mean emotional and mental not financial. I also recommend this book for kids whose parent, sibling or other relative has this. What a great way to find a positive way to get the kids and others to do something for you that you need done and without feeling uneasy about it.
One great thing I read was not having to say, "No, I can't" about something. I can now say, "I am not able to do that at this time." Period. What a feeling of freedom of not having that "I can't" hanging over my head day in and day out! I love the idea of not "having to" give up my bed when someone comes to visit. She is right, that is why there is a guest room and a sofa, not to mention nice hotels nearby that are reasonably priced too!
I am very excited to sit down and read this book but then take it one step further and put her ideas into action in order to really improve the quality of my life, just like the title says! This book was worth every penny and if someone could only have one book about fibromyalgia, I would recommend this one. This has plenty of day to day ways to make life easier while teaching long term changes also! I hope you enjoy this as much as I do!

5-0 out of 5 stars Practical and easy to read

Yet, it's also one of the most controversial diagnoses; many doctors deny its existence, while others use fibromyalgia as a fallback when they are unable to determine the actual cause of ill health. 5-0 out of 5 stars Has It All
A comprehensive guide on Fibro, what it is, how to treat it--oops--no, the focus is how you treat it. This book has all the tools for you to be in control of your fibro and your life. You can pick and choose and slowly or quickly incorporate them, depending on your tolerance for change. For "health nuts" Cabrera's book will hit the spot; for others with not so healthy habits, it is an invaluable guide to lowering your dependence on drugs, pointing out what you unknowingly do to hurt yourself, and countless ways to improve your health.
Part II is devoted to the practical issues; she wisely starts with diet, then moves to herbal therapies and closes with self care. Each chapter is didactically structured so you are drawn into the subject smoothly and convinced, ready for change!
Chanchal Cabrera puts her words where her mouth is (that didn't sound right!)and provides a whole chapter of resources, where you can go for further help, and for implementing a herbal therapy. Although appendix two is a long list of herbs, how to use, etc, I found that I am more comfortable with a reputable practitioner who can design the herbal treatment and oversee my progress (under sources.)
The author's own personal experience, coupled with her impressive academic and professional background make this a very credible source. My wholehearted recommendation on this read.
Cheers and stay healthy!

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm ME again!
I had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
On May 20th, 2006, I found the Mickel Therapy website and read it.
Then I ordered this book and read it.
I began applying the Mickel Therapy process to the best of my understanding and seeing improvements in my health.

June 13th I had my first session with a Mickel Therapist.

October 2006, I am well and have not had any symptoms for a month.
I have just ordered five copies of this book for friends who have CFS/ME, FM, IBS, Depression or Anxiety.

The book doesn't appear to have been proofread but I found the content brilliant and believe that it contains the keys to open the doors to excellent health for most everyone, not just CFS sufferers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
This book is a must read for those who suffer from these chronic conditions, as well as for those with an interest in health more generally.

As I understand it, the book is designed to be read by those suffering from the conditions of Chronic Fatigue, Post Viral Fatigue, ME and Fibromyalgia. It is brief because many sufferers have problems with concentration and memory.Dr Mickel is trying to convey complex information in a simple manner and I believe he is successful in this venture.

I, unlike the first reviewer, know a number of people who have been successfully treated by Dr Mickel and his colleagues. His claims are far from ludicrous.Increasing numbers of professionals concur with the role of the hypothalamus in these conditions and the approach Dr Mickel takes of treating the cause of the problems rather than just the effect or symptoms seems eminently sensible!.

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
This book is expensive - about 70 pages for $16.
It is poorly written and some of the claims made
by Dr Mickel are frankly ludicrous - for example
- that he had 'a 100% success' rate curing his
clients.

He says Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is caused by
disturbances in the energy of the cells but
doesn't give any proof or explain how.

Nor does the book say much about how the 'cure'
actually works - so that people have to pay to
come and find out?

5-0 out of 5 stars There is hope!
This is highly recommended for anyone suffering from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, ME or Fibromyalgia. Dr Mickel explains the theory behind Mickel Reverse Therapy, an exciting new treatment for these conditions. It is relatively short and easy to understand, which is crucial for sufferers who are unable to concentrate for long periods of time. Nevertheless, it serves to introduce the reader to the key concepts behind the treatment. For anyone suffering from these conditions and considering undertaking Mickel Reverse Therapy, reading this book will help answer many questions and will serve as a first step to a cure. There is hope! ... Read more

by Jim Lowrance
Kindle Edition: Pages (2010-04-01)

Editorial Review

Product Description
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) and Fibromyalgia (FMS) have 75% crossover symptom similarities, according to medical sources. These same sources, including the U.S. National Institutes of Health have found that both CFS and FMS patients present with cortisol levels (the major adrenal stress hormone) that are lower than that of the healthy population. This is what some believe to be an indicator of a mildly adrenal insufficient state called “Adrenal Fatigue”.

This twelve chapter, 9,265 word ebook is very possibly the best available on these syndromes and their interconnectedness. Author- Jim Lowrance has included this compiled information to help readers understand the role of adrenal function, in the development of these syndromes, including a section that was awarded an Editor’s Choice Award in 2009, as a general health resource.

Included in the chapters, are discussion on symptoms (with added detail to those of more complication), diagnosis and treatments for these syndromes which have increased in incidence – with far more people developing them with each passing year. It is a must-read for patients who are experiencing them or who suspect that they have-developed or are-developing one of these syndromes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Guided Imagery
I'm hooked on Belleruth's guided imagery CDs.Every one is specifically made to address a particular need.I have about 6 and listen to all of them. (Not at the same time) She's a healer and I'm grateful to have found her.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must for those with FMS
I was diagnosised 11 years ago and have alot of flare-ups through the years.I ordered this CD with the hope that it would help even a little bit...well to my suprise it works so wonderfully....in a time where I was stressed out and knew that if I didn't calm down I would be suffering severely the next day, I listened to this CD and the next morning woke up feeling great.I've told several people including my Nurse Practitioner that this is the best CD out there to help easy your suffering.I liked it so much that I have ordered several more of Belleruth's CD to use at different times in my battle with FMS.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love it!
This will be short and sweet.
I have Fibromyalgia for 22 years now.
I really like this meditation and the affirmations that are included.
I am having to make myself to set aside time to listen and receive the benefits. It is worth the time.
Even if FMS is not your disease it is good for anyone living with Chronic Pain.

4-0 out of 5 stars Therapy for the mind and body
This was a gift I purchased and the reciever has used it well, being a good therapy for the mind and body in what can be a daily struggle in living with Fibro.

5-0 out of 5 stars A very useful CD for fibromyalgia sufferers
Sufferers from the chronic pain of fibromyalgia can feel quite lonely. There are lots of "modalities" out there, many of which are useful in palliating the pain to some extent. Over the years, I have found that daily stretching exercises, weekly remedial massage and the use of a naturopathic diet, in that order, have yielded the most relief. I am now exploring meditation as another source of help. I heard Belleruth Naparstek being interviewed on the radio and was so impressed by her that I ordered her CD "A Meditation to help with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue (Health Journeys)" from amazon.com. I can honestly say it is excellent. She has a beautiful voice and is very knowledgeable about fibromyalgia. She is also unpatronising and non-judgemental - and we sufferers from the condition know that it is common for non-sufferers to be somewhat judgemental. Naparstek takes the listener on a mental journey that is very healthy. She recommends that the CD be listened to daily for a number of weeks. I have to say my pain is no better, but that is not her fault. I know that mental calmness is something that can't be achieved instantly. I recommend the CD wholeheartedly. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money or time
Why would anyone go to the expense not to mention the time involved to have a book published and then not pay to have it edited? I counted at least 30 mistakes before I got to page 5 so I quit reading it. I could not get past the mistakes so I knew I wouldn't be able to trust the content either. The only high rating this book received was apparently written by the husband of the author and/or the editor because some of the same mistakes in the book were found in that same review. I am sorry I purchased it and hope others will read the ratings before they consider buying it.

3-0 out of 5 stars forget the typos and misspellings
Forget the typos and misspelling and read the content instead. you will learn and understand a lot more focusing on that. the editors probably left the mistakes in just to show you just how frustrating it is for fibro patients to get everyone to understand their fibro-fogs.

2-0 out of 5 stars In my honest opinion.....
Did anyone proofread the text before publishing??

Being a fibromyalgia sufferer myself, I know that we get into a fog and can't write straight, not to mention think straight..(fog) but gee whiz, I actually felt embarrased READING the text of this book!Psst....next time get an editor or at least someone who can spell!

5-0 out of 5 stars Honnest and Real
I found this book to be very helpful. I was having a hard time understanding what my wife was going through and even though there may of been some typo's the information was very helpful. I got to understand that there are many people out there just like her and some where worse and some where better but at least I know what to look for and how to help her. Since the author has Fibromyalgia herself I can forgive typo's. It is very understandable. At least she is honnest and the people who told thier stories are real. I thank the author for writing this book.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't Bother!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent, Excellent, Excellent!!!
I had just been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and didn't know much about it.My doctor recommended this book. Now I am well informed on what is going on with my body and what I can do to regain control of my life. This book is written by a Doctor who has the condition himself.. thus he can give you the ins and outs of battling with this disease/condition.I find myself referring back to this book constantly. What I really like about this book is that the information is straight forward...you are not told that you will be able to cure this condition, but what to expect, what can happen, what you can do to make yourself feel better, how to cope, drug therapies, natural/pharmaceutical supplements, etc.. If you are newly diagnosed or if you have had Fibromyalgia for some time...it's a great book for information.

5-0 out of 5 stars My Number One Choice on the Suject
The best book I've found on Fibromyalgia. Who better to write on fm than a medical doctor who both specializes in fm and actually has the disease (yes, disease) himself? As a new fm patient, I found this book to be the most comprehensive, medically sound, and practical for helping to diagnose and treat fm. It even helped with my diagnosis. Another good source is "Living Well with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia" by Mary Shomon (another patient, but not a medical doctor; however, her book seems incredibly well researched. How did she find the energy?) A warning, "Fibromyalgia for Dummies" is an imcomplete piece of fluff, a waste of paper. (See my scathing review of it.) I agree with the reviews below, "Inside Fibromyaligia" is the first choice for fm patients. Thank you Mark Pellegrino.

Inside Fibroy... is an awesome book that I highly recommend reading and following to anyone who suffers from fibro.I do not however recommend that anyone actually track Dr. Pellegrino down in Ohio to see him personally. It is not worth the $200 which he demands up front. You can get more out of the book.He is more concerned with the bottom line than helping his patients especailly those who travel from out of town to see him.Unlike what he says in his book he will not write a detailed letter to employers to help them understand fibro or to help the fibro patient obtain restrictions or job modifications.I would recommend showing the book to your employer. The book is very helpful, in person the doctor is not.

5-0 out of 5 stars Helpful and Fun
This book is full of practical suggestions for every facet of life with FMS - work, vacations, housework, etc. There is an illustrated series of stretching exercizes that are very helpful. I think this book is most different from others in its use of humor. If you don't have a sense of humor, you need to develop one with FMS, when "fibro-fog" becomes a way of life.
Dr. Pellegrino deserves a better editor - several typographical errors mar what is otherwise a wonderful book. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars second verse, as good as the first...
They've done it again... an excellent book about a highly underrated subject. I had fibromyalgia as a child and without their help, I don't know where I'd be today.

Our children are our future, so why not spare them the symptoms of fibromyalgia. This book is a cutting edge look at how fibromyalgia affects children and, more importantly, how to help them avoid its debilitating effects. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best book on AT
Though putatively angled at fibromyalgia-sufferers, this is far-and-away the best instructional guide to AT. The practical bit actually covers eighty of its 219 pages, with a further, somewhat (by necessity) sketchier treatment of 'advanced' training (viz. 'autogenic meditation'). Many other books on this topic are obsessed with AT's being learnable only under the guidance of a (medically) qualified trainer, and deploy that as an excuse to be vague about technique, to the point of uselessness. That is nonsense. This text's special merit lies in its careful clarification of 'passive concentration', pointing out that one does employ visual (or other) imagination whilst repeating the formulae. The only other decent, practical guide, Kermani's, was, for me, confusing on this score.

Unfortunately the book appears to be very expensive now. Nonetheless, this is the one. And, to repeat, don't be put off by the book's appearing to be specifically targeted at fibromyalgics. It doesn't matter.

5-0 out of 5 stars An indispensable guide to relaxation training.
Although the term "autogenic training" may sound intimidating, it is really just a very effective relaxation technique.Developed by the German psychiatrist Johannes Schultz in the early 1930s, it was a forerunner of the fascination with the "mind/body" connection that emerged in the 1970s.And like so many of us in the 70s (those of us who were alive back then!), Schultz himself was fascinated with yoga and meditation, incorporating many of their principles into his technique.

Autogenic training has been taught and used extensively in Europe and Japan since its inception, but oddly never received much attention in the United States. However, clinical studies of its effectiveness were carried out in Germany from the beginning, and since the 1980s studies have been published in Japan and throughout Europe. It has been shown to calm the nervous system in a manner similar to deep meditation, and thus helps relieve physical and emotional complaints stemming from stress and anxiety. It has also been shown to help strengthen the immune system.

Dr. Sadigh has written this book for both the lay reader and practicing clinicians. As a lay reader, I am not in a position to evaluate the scientific rigor of the many studies he cites throughout the book. However, I was able to teach myself the technique using this book as a self-study guide. Moreover, I appreciate an author who provides citations, as I've seen many holistic health books that make bold claims without providing any evidence from clinical studies.

Parts I and II seem to be directed more toward professional clinicians. In Part I, "Theoretical Aspects of Chronic Pain and Stress," he outlines recent studies of fibromyalgia, depression, anxiety and other mind/body conditions, and shows how other relaxation therapies compare to autogenic training in their effectiveness. In Part II, "History and Principles of Autogenic Training," he discusses how the technique was developed and how to optimize its practice. These first two parts may be a bit dry for the lay reader, since he very carefully cites numerous studies and gives evidence for his findings. However, I found that reading over the material did give me important background information that helped me understand how to do the exercises.

In Part III, "Training, Biofeedback and Treatment of Insomnia," he lays out the steps for practice, which are very clear and easy to follow.Starting with preliminary exercises, you progress gradually, mastering one step at a time before adding on another. After learning the basic practice, you can go on to advanced techniques, some of which use visualization, and all of which deepen the meditative experience. Finally, there is an entire chapter on insomnia and pain, which I found very helpful, having been plagued by insomnia from a very early age.

This book is well-organized, clearly written, and, despite its rather dry tone, I found it inspirational. It enabled me to influence my physical responses to stress, thus empowering me to improve my health and my state of mind.Although I am grateful for modern medications and have benefited from them, I always prefer to use the power of my mind to help myself. This book teaches how to do that.

4-0 out of 5 stars A good step by step guide
The title of the book tells us what we are getting. "Autogenic Training: A Mind-Body Approach to the Treatment of Fibromyalgia and Chronic Pain Syndrome." was written as a reference resource and training manual for practitioners. The first 1/4 of the book consists of a review of research studies on fibromyalgia, stress and pain. A later chapter also covers insomnia and how it is typically found in patients who suffer from chronic pain and fibromyalgia. As a psychotherapist and someone who experiences chronic pain I find this book a very useful resource.

That's not to say that others wouldn't appreciate the book, too. The chapters that cover the specifics of Autogenic Training are excellent. They are very thorough and provide a clear andmodern introduction to the practice. There is a much shorter chapter that provides an introduction to advanced Autogenic Training methods. It is generally focused on the use of techniques, "formulas" that are useful in the treatment of insomnia and chronic pain. Each of the six steps or standard exercises gets its own chapter with a listing of benefits, cautions and a short case study along with thorough instructions. There is also a short section of general instructions for people who suffer from insomnia.

As you might expect of a book targeted towards clinicians, the writing is academic in style, though not to the point of being unreadably dry.Of use to anybody interested in systematic training and documenting the benefits of Autogenics are the Autogenic Pain and Tension Checklists, include in an Appendix. The book is adequately indexed and referenced.

It's nice to see a modern, research based coverage of Autogenic Training. The basic Autogenic Training formulas are well covered, and the research is up-to-date as of 2000. I would love to see a second book from the author that addresses the broader scope of Autogenics, as the original texts on the subject are out of print and expensive, as well as containing research that is 50 or more years old.

2-0 out of 5 stars autogenic training
If you are unable to get a grip to Autogenic Therapy by J. H. Schultz and Wolfgang Luthe (the original six books), you have to read Micah's book. But, remember: Schultz and Wolfgang Luthe are the masters. Their books were published between 1930 and 1973.I read those and are fresh and full of insights. Why copy the copy when you can go to source. If you are really interested in the subject, the book to acquire is the original Autogenic Training published in 1959 byJ.H. Schultz and Wolfgang Luthe. Always, go to the source.

5-0 out of 5 stars A SCIENTIFIC WORK WITH IMMEDIATE CLINICAL APPLICATIONS.
This book will be a "classic" for both professionals and patients alike.Dr.Sadigh masterfully weaves through the literature on Fibromyalgia, Stress & Pain, and Autogenic Training setting up "Part III", a tour de force on "Training, Biofeedback, and Treatment of Insomnia"

He walksyou through a six step sequence of Autogenic Training Exercises as if you were sitting in his office. The chapters are clear, concise and have immediate clinical applications.Of particular interest and help are the "Case Examples" and "Common Difficulties" sections which follow each Autogenic Exercise sequence. These sections as well as the "Questions & Answers" chapter assist the clinician or patient as if the Doctor himself were right there answering your very questions.

This book is a landmark compilation crossing many boundaries that will be a mainstay on the book shelves of professionals and patients for years to come.

I only hope that Dr. Sadigh will follow this book with a CD or Tape Set consisting of the Autogenic Training Exercises that he so expertly presented in this book.Having a tape or CD to practice the exercises would truely give people suffering from Fibromyalgia, Chronic Pain, and Stress & Cognitive Anxiety the opportunity to derive ongoing benefit from the information presented in this masterful book.

Thank you for you magnificent contribution in helping sufferers worldwide! ... Read more

Product Description
Fibromyalgia is a form of chronic neuromuscular pain, a pain-amplification syndrome brought on by abnormal interactions between hormones, the immune system, neurotransmitters, and the autonomic nervous system, that afflicts six million Americans every year. Often misdiagnosed, and widely misunderstood, the majority of patients are turned away from doctors or treated for depression. This guide offers expert advice to sufferers of this painful syndrome and gives them the education they need to get the help they require but rarely get. In their earlier books, Making Sense of Fibromyalgia and All About Fibromyalgia, noted medical writer Janice Wallace and Dr. Daniel Wallace, a leading expert on this disorder, provided comprehensive guides--for both patients and professionals--to this little known and poorly understood syndrome. Now, in Fibromyalgia, the Wallaces provide an inviting and succinct version of the syndrome they have studied, laid out in clear and accessible language. The authors provide a clear, concise explanation of the syndrome and its symptoms, and also outline the recent advances in treatments. Fibromyalgia addresses a desperate need for concise, accessible information on this syndrome and offers reassurance to patients and their families. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful info
I have many Fibro books. This one has given me information that the others have not. Don't get me wrong when you've read one you basically have read them all, but this one has a few new items in it that the others do not.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent balance between layman explanations and medical terminology
This is the first book I have purchased since my FMS diagnosis. It explains things very well, and covers a wide array of treatment options and loads of study information ranging from physical therapies, to medicines, and even to alternative treatment options such as herbal tinctures.
After reading this book, I was able to express to my family, especially my daughter, what I was going thru, how it felt, and identify my needs more accurately for a more engaged lifestyle. I realized I was not a lost cause, that the syndrome was not all in my head, and there are proactive measures I can take to improve my life.
Anyone who is serious about really wanting to understand the mechanics of the syndrome, co-existing and similar illnesses which are easier to explain to others, and have a need to understand the syndrome itself should read this book.
Finishing this book reassured me that there is hope if you are willing to accept pacing yourself with realistic goals to improve your life. Despite my excellent medical care, I previously felt more as if I had "whining female syndrome" rather than something real which can be and needs to be treated.
It does get technical in parts of the book, but was well within my ease of understanding all of the author's information, and left me with a feeling of hope and positive well being I have not experienced in years.

4-0 out of 5 stars Concise Book Great for Patients & Family
I loved this book. As a FMS sufferer of 2 years now I'm still at times struggling to cope and understand and accept this illness. This book was great, it was written in such a clear consise mannerthat didn't talk down to me! This book is wonderful also for sharing with family and friends when they have questions. It doesn't overwhelm you with tons of overly detailed information. If you want that you can get "Fibromyalgia and Chronic Myofascial Pain: A Survival Manual" (2nd Edition) by Devin J. Starlanyl which is the bible on FMS. I love Devin's books too, but they can be quite mind boggling reading fora friend or relative who wants to know more about the illness without overexposure! *LOL*

As a former librarian and researcher by nature (I had to quit my beloved job due to the severity of FMS along with arthritis, migraines, PCOS, etc) I have read more than twenty some books on FMS/CFIDS, living with chronic illnesses, etc and this book along with Cladia Craig Marek's "Fibromyalgia the First Year" has become one of my two favorites! The writing is so easy to understand and I even found out new information that I hadn't come across before on medications, symptoms and new theories on what's behind the cause of FMS.

Do make this book part of your personal library on FMS. It is qutie definetly worth the cost!

1-0 out of 5 stars I would NOT recommend this book to ANYONE
Fibromyalgia is a confusing syndrome as it is. I was looking for a guide for my family and what I got instead was a book that, contradicts everything my doctors and other reputable authors and experts on fibromyalgia have said or written. The author obviously hasnt done much research on the issue. Anyone that has done any research into fibromyalgia knows that we have TENDER points, not TRIGGER points, the author mentions several times TENDER points injections as a pain remedy. I could go on and on about this book but I wont. Instead I suggest you read "The Fibromyalgia Advocate" by Dr. Devin Starlanyl before you read this book. She is not only and author/M.D. but she lives with fibromyalgia herself, and writes from experience. I feel that if I were to give this book to my family, they would be even more confused about my syndrome than they were before, and probably less sympathetic/understanding.

3-0 out of 5 stars .
I would give the book more stars if it was openly listed as an update of their earlier book, "Making Sense of Fibromyalgia." There is very little difference in the two books. On it's own, it's a good resource for understanding current thoughts on the causes for the symptoms, medical and complementary treatments, and ways to minimize its effect on your life. ...
