Extractions: Latest Shots All Shots VERDICT: You have to decide: Do you want a compelling experience or do you just want to kill stuff? Or are you just in it for the multiplayer? Return to Castle Wolfenstein should have been an important moment in PC gaming history. A kind of bookend to its genre-originating grandpa, RtCW should have shown us not only how far we have come, but how far we will go and why we'll always leave the consoles a step behind. But for all its technological wizardry, RtCW brings almost nothing new to the table gameplay-wise. I think that's a shame, and if you're the kind of gamer who plays every first-person-shooter that comes out and are waiting for something to top classics such as Half-Life and No One Lives Forever, it'll seem a shame to you too. All the ingredients are there for RtCW to have been a much better game. I'm not saying that RtCW's single-player experience is a bad one, it's just pretty standard fare. Of course, once again you are tough-as-nails U.S. Army Sergeant B.J. Blazcowicz. Your mission is to sneak into Castle Wolfenstein and put an end to the nefarious supernatural plans of Heinrich Himmler and his SS Paranormal Division. The game begins after you've been captured, your fellow spy tortured to death, and a lowly guard dispatched to bring you to the torture chamber. Your escape from the cell is clever but it's told only through a cut-scene, so once you have control of the action you're already alone and armed. It would have been nice if I had had to figure out my escape for myself, but there's almost no puzzle-solving throughout RtCW. The few minor puzzles that are there involve getting into secret areas, and those aren't necessary to finish the game.
Mumblings From A Staind Soul who like the cRAP, I'm just bashing the whole genra alltogether nothing Music A Weapon or an art? The media has been trying to stuff a bunch of lies down http://www.staindsouls.com/column.html
Extractions: 9.20.01 (by Josh Leatherwood) When I flip on the radio, turn on Mtv, talk to people at school, or just walk down the street, what am I bombarded with? Besides the attack coverage that we see so much now...I hear rap. That horrible, terrible, beat-your-wife, shoot-your-kids, rape-as-many-girls-as-possible garbage that so many people from every background listen to. What is the deal with that? Where has the rock gone? Being from the south, I have a bit of white boy redneck pride, but it's not just a black person thing. I hate the rap genra for all its worth. It's pointless. I am sick of my heavy metal favorites being blaimed for so much carnage yet the evil scum of rap get away scot free from lyric bashings. The only rapper under any scruitany is poor ole Marshal, and we all know that story. How is it so many people can listen to music that is so full of negative things u could build 1000s of bin Ladins and 1000s of Charles Mansons? It is terrible. There are so many rap songs out that are becons for sex and drugs and murder. It's sicking. Sure there are some rockers that sing bout sex, drugs, and murder, but not every song on every album they do is centered around it. Rap is the scum of the music world. Now I want to say right now, I don't have anything against the people who listen to rap or anything like that. I just don't see how they can do it. Of course they will say the same thing about me listening to my rock, but hey differences make the world go around. So don't take this article as me bashin the poeple who like the cRAP, I'm just bashing the whole genra alltogether...nothing against it's listeners. This is strictly my opinion and it is one I am very strong on. Don't flood the Staind Souls staff with hate mail. I want you to direct it all to me at JoshLlikesStaind@aol.com. I will personally read and answer every email I get so feel free to curse me out through electronics.

Extractions: Prospectus Political Unconscious 153), forsaking the synchronic representation of multiple character for the more and more detailed depiction of the positioning of a particular subject in time and space. Earlier in this century, various British and American modernists deployed textual innovation to trace out the precise specificities of multiple characters' consciousness interacting within the work of art. Depictions of individuals in novels such as Ulysses The Waves and As I Lay Dying were surrounded by various sorts of ellipses intended to emphasize the importance of the spaces between individuals. The more recent work which I intend to examine emphasizes the positioning of the individual in relation to its various spacial and temporal contexts, focusing not on individuals separated by some sort of break or lapse but in their constant connection to a variety of social and historical contexts and discourses. Ulysses and The Waves As ready distinctions of all sorts have come to be more rigorously interrogated in our poststructuralist moment, however, artists have experimented with a variety of techniques to examine those spaces within collections of items conceived as entities, which were previously ignored simply as that between significant spacial and temporal positions. The resulting technical innovations are most readily apparent in texts which situate themselves at the edge of such constructs.

Western Dhimmis : Folks who read the Nick Denton post that was linked to by Glenn Reynolds might want to check out this Bruce Bawer article in Partisan Review , which covers both the good (examples of assimilation to Western norms) and bad (examples of the converse), and in effect raises the question of whether there is intellectual and institutional support for the exact opposite of what Nick Denton asks for; in effect, the self-transformation in the name of tolerance of Western societies into the status of Dhimmitude to satisfy the non-assimilating Moslem immigrants, in the name of multuculturalism, and whether tolerant people are blind to the dangers to the toleration they value in being too accomodating to the practices of immigrants who are radical islamists that reject the social mores of the societies they're immigrating to. It's certainly a quandary for people, I'm sure. It's a well reasoned and thoughtful article, not an intemprate polemic, worth pondering. A key section states:
