4-0 out of 5 stars Song for an Under-Sung American Hero
In the post-dome era, Bucky Fuller has slid out of the collective consciousness. Eastham's exploration of his roots in American (esp. Northeastern) thought, the echo of his ideas in ancient religions, and the clear relevance of his geometry to modern science, brings this genius back out of the woodwork. Although Eastham's reading list is a LOT more extensive than mine and many of the specific references he makes are well past me, his summaries bring the many tracks and paths he follows back to coherence. His folksy, conversational writing style makes complex often academic thoughts and ideas accessible to the lay reader. The quotes of Fuller's that are included make it obvious why he is not well read - he couldn't simplify his thoughts for the rest of us to understand, except by creating beautiful models like the Wholes. The appendix on Wholes alone is worth the price of the book. Concise and clear, it offers the reader a great first step into experiencing Fuller's ideas for him(her)self. It takes a Fuller fan with a mind like Eastham's to plum the depths and make Fuller readable for the rest of us.

It seems clear to me that more scientists, designers, and engineers (maybe artists?) need to read this book and think a little harder about how to advance our mathematical systems to reflect nature's ways. Nature may even cooperate and show herself more easily if we look through the correct lens.

Not always easy going, but worth the effort.

"Synergetics: The exploratory strategy of starting with the whole."(R. B. Fuller)

It was in the 1940s that Buckminster Fuller developed a series of spherical models which embody and illustrate the principles of his synergetic geometry. This study of Fuller's life, works, and geometrical principles describes in vigorous detail how these spherical figures reveal themselves in both natural structures - molecules, flowers, crystals, etc. - and cultural forms, especially in religious art and sacred architecture. Fuller's `omnitriangulated' geometry offers a key to structures of meaning and value in more than one symbolic world.

The author first assesses the legacy of Fuller, scientist-artist-engineer extraordinaire, by examining how he drew his inspiration from an alternative American dream, a way of life based on cooperation rather than competition. The book then offers an enthusiastic and sympathetic portrayal of the creative science of a man whose character was as multifaceted as the geodesic domes he built.

Discover why the straight lines and boxes of conventional science and maths are inadequate to model Nature's spherical and cyclical patterns of growth. Explore the many startling ways in which Bucky's synergetic figures appear in the ancient iconographies of the world's great religious traditions.Open up future artistic applications of Fuller's `whole systems' by learning to think `outside the box.'

"Many commentators seem to think Bucky's ideas stand or fall by the success or failure of the dome-building industry.I beg to differ.I find his fundamental re-envisioning of technology as `what Nature does,' and his deployment of 'Nature's Coordinate System' to be initiatives more far-reaching - and even more durable - than the domes themselves."

"I'll never think of Bucky as a technocrat again."

Product Description
Malcolm Stewart has discovered a remarkable geometrical device. The 'starcut diagram', as he has called it, is at first glance a simple way of dividing the area of a square. After extensive research, however, he found that it has extraordinary mathematical properties, suggesting that it may be no less than the source of the number system used when ancient humanity first built cities. He shows that the starcut diagram underlies many significant patterns and proportions across the world: in China, the shaman's dance; in Egypt, the Great Pyramid; in Europe, a Raphael fresco; in Asia, the Vedic Fire Altar, and many others. This book is an intellectual adventure, written for a general reader without specialist knowledge. Illustrated with around 180 photographs, drawings and diagrams, it tells the story of many fresh discoveries, bringing sacred geometry to life in an original and inspiring way. ... Read more

While many struggle to reach enlightenment, Ivan Rados believes that everyone has the capacity to experience the state of freedom from the illusionary egoic mind, without all of the struggle. This capacity is realized not by following rules, performing rituals, or imitating enlightened masters, but by bringing awareness to the mind’s attachments. Through his stunning yantras and clear explanations, Rados offers a simple way to still the mind and become deeply aware of the Infinite Consciousness at the heart of one's own being. The included yantras feature Rados's stellar artwork which flows from his profoundly rich experience of present moment awareness. The 52 yantras match the number of weeks in the year, offering a variety of ways to use the cards for the development of divine consciousness, along with tips for gaining specific insight and guidance. 5-0 out of 5 stars Sacred Geometry Demystified
I have always been a fan of geometry Sacred or otherwise. My interest started with Buckminster Fuller's work and continued with my studies in Architecture and Engineering.Several years ago I ordered several books on Sacred Geometry and attended a few workshops.

Over the years I have read and studied over 20 books on the subject and found that Bruce's "Design Sourcebook" is the most user friendly source available on this subject.I love the kinetically connected process of hands on learning.Sacred Geometry can be a complex and confusing subject but Bruce has boiled it down to a level that my grandchildren can understand and enjoy. However his work also contains enough solid content to keep a wannabe expert like me engaged.

I had the unexpected opportunity to meet Bruce and Nancy on a painting trip to Guatemala a couple of years ago.We met on my first night in Antigua and about half way through dinner realized that I had read and studied his book.We spent the next several days talking about Sacred geometry and how it related to art and architecture.Bruce is articulate and fun to be with, I hope to one day attend one of his workshops and renew our exploration of this intriguing subject.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sacred Geometry for Young and Old
The Sacred Geometry Sourcebook bu Nancy-Bolton Rawles and Bruce Rawles is a great book to own for seekers of any age. If you have children in the house, from toddlers on up, this book is an excellent tool to awaken their awareness of Geometry, Color, Space and Design! the Illustrations are beautiful and masterfully done and even those who have studied Geometry or Sacred Geometry for many years should have this Sourcebook as part of their library.

I would further suggest that anyone in any Design field, such as Architects, Graphic Designers, Interior and Exterior Designers, Jewelry Designers, Illustrators, etc., would do very well from a professional standpoint to have this Book available for Inspiration, Education and Explanation.

I highly recommend it. I also recommend Bruce Rawles as a Teacher of Sacred Geometry.

Product Description
Reveals the ancient mathematical principles refuting the notion of the solar system as an accidental creation.

• Reveals how ancient civilizations encoded their secret knowledge of the sky in mythology, music, and sacred measures.

• Shows how modern culture can benefit from the ancient astronomical and astrological worldview based on number.

• Shows the role of ratio and harmonic proportions in the creation of the material world.

Humanity's understanding of number was deeper and richer when the concept of creation was rooted in direct experience. But modern sensibility favors knowledge based exclusively on physical laws. We have forgotten what our ancestors once knew: that numbers and their properties create the forms of the world. Ancient units of measurement held within them the secrets of cosmic proportion and alignment that are hidden by the arbitrary decimal units of modern mathematical thinking.

Sacred numbers arose from ancient man's observations of the heavens. Just as base ten numbers relate to the fingers and toes in terms of counting, each celestial period divides into the others like fingers revealing the base numbers of planetary creation. This ancient system made the art of counting a sacramental art, its units being given spiritual meanings beyond just measurement. The imperial yard, for example, retains a direct relationship to the Equator, the length of a day and a year, and the angular values of Earth, Moon, and Jupiter.

The ancients encoded their secret knowledge of the skies within mythology, music, monuments, and units of sacred measurement. They understood that the ripeness of the natural world is the perfection of ratio and realized that the planetary environment--and time itself--was a creation of number. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Planetary Orbits - What Goes Around Comes Around
Four stars are for the concepts the book presents, not because it is particularly well written. It is interesting and develops some incredible relationships. In particular, matrices can be constructed using celestial periods which yield musical harmonics, and that the stability of our solar system is based on an intricate system of energies from all the other planets and our moon.

But... Although I've got a degree in math, I'm not real familiar with astronomy. In some chapters, I had to stop several times, get online, find out the point this author was trying to make, then go back to this book once I figured it out.It was a lot of work, and it didn't need to be this difficult to present.

Here's a prime example from page 38: "As seen in the last chapter, the practical year is divided into five equal pieces by the eightfold, Fibonacci-based synodic year of Venus."
This could have easily read, "Five Venus orbits equal eight Earth orbits, and this 8:5 ratio approximates the Golden Mean."Whew! It may not sound as intellectual, but you don't have to re-read it five times to get the meaning.

On a positive aspect, the figures (drawings) showing relationships between orbital periods, days, etc. were excellent and a great aid in visualizing the relationships.

Even with the difficulties, it is well worth reading.

5-0 out of 5 stars Astonishing
An incredible work. This is the type of information we should have been studying in school, not the nonsense that passes for today's education.

4-0 out of 5 stars Was the solar syatem designed?
Why do the "Intelligent Design" people put all their effort into demolishing a superior system of biology. The best indications of design are in the numerical facts of the solar system where the golden mean is found and the numbers of the orbit of the moon match those of the orbit of Jupiter. Richard Heath, continuing a path pioneered by John Mitchell and others presents facts that are hard to digest.Yes, I would like read a debunking of what is presented here, but I have a feeling that I will not get one. The book is sometimes difficult to follow, and one must read some parts more than once to understand them. Constantly one feels that this cannot be. The measurements of the bodies in our solar system must be just happenstance. They cannot fit together in a numeric system as presented here.So is Heath twisting the numbers? Apparently not. Then what does it mean that this is so?Certainly this is a challenge for science, but it actually an even bigger one for the dogmatists of our age. The so-called "Intelligent Design" people will not accept this because to do so requires an acceptance of older gods. ... Read more

Book Description:

"This delightful book describes the symbolism of real-world architecture, as well as architecture described in fiction, myth and folklore. Lethaby believed that architecture reflected the macrocosm. He speculated that many of the seemingly ornamental details of classical buildings actually represented aspects of the land, the sea and the sky. This is one of those books like the Golden Bough or the White Goddess (albeit shorter and a less challenging read) that will turn you on to the mythopoetic side of reality, no matter whether you agree with its conclusions." Product Description
Galileo described the universe as a large book written in the language of mathematics, which can only be read by those with knowledge of its characters triangles, circles and other geometrical figures. In "How the World Is Made", John Michell explains how ancient peoples who grasped the timeless principles of sacred geometry were able to create flourishing societies. His more than 300 colour illustrations reveal the secret code within these geometrical figures and how they express the spiritual meanings in the key numbers of 1 through 12. He identifies the various regular shapes and shows their constructions; their natural symbolism; their meetings, matings and ways of breeding; and, their functions within the universal order. In the process, Michell helps us see the world in a new light. Disparate shapes and their corresponding numbers are woven together, resolving themselves into an all-inclusive world image that pattern in the heavens, as Socrates called it, which anyone can find and establish within themselves. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Thought process behind the art
I was surprised that I enjoyed this book. After the first few lines I though Uh-oh... Jungian dream analysis and fake native mysticism... this is going to be so pretentious I won't be able to stomach it. But, I kept reading - and reading - and reading. This is no simple biography. Nor is it mere navel gazing from an overindulged artist. It is most of all a love story between a man and a woman, woman and creation and the creator for the created. It was enormously interesting to watch the growth of an artist from first fumblings with technique and culture to a mastery of both the art form and the marriage between myth and creation (both art and ourselves). Somewhere along the way the craft of weaving became the art of creation and we are the lucky few who get to witness the process.

I learned about myth, culture, mathematics, art, discipline, color and form. I suspect I will never be able to create anything again without at least once mentally refering back to this book - even though weaving is not my chosen medium. The design process through reflection after completion is shown so clearly that It will influence me for a very long time.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the chronicle of a weaver's life in tapestry.
Weaver of Worlds, by David Jongeward, is the account of his wife Carolyn's progression as a tapestry weaver. He chronicles their first encounters with Navajo weavers and medicine men, combs and battens, anxiety and elation.Since David and Carolyn both kept journals, the book contains exerpts from these which provide insight into Carolyn's"world behind the loom." The Navajo priciples of beauty and harmony resonate in the full-color pictures of her tapestries. As she wove, they both read many books on ancient civilizations, art, philosophy, etc. These books were the basis for dreams which inspired more weaving, as well as discussions with each other and friends like Frank Waters(Book of the Hopi). From her first clumsy attempts to her mastery over warp and weft, this book is her journey and can serve as a roadmap for others wishing to learn to weave.A bibliography lists the books which stimulated her craft and personal growth ... Product Description
"The Viking Serpent" or "The Norwegian Pentagram" as it was called before being translated reveals a hitherto unknown and occult side to the Viking- and early Middle Age in Norway. From approx. 935 CE heathen Viking Norway was introduced to a form of Christianity peculiar to a certain branch of the Gnostic Celtic Church of the British Isles, where the serpent had a 'leading role' and which, according to historians and archaeologists, has a pronounced Syrian and Egyptian character.
Comparing old legends and historical facts the author has unravelled a fascinating story and found a holy geometry constructed by the Celts that the famous co-author of Holy Blood, Holy Grail, Henry Lincoln has deemed "the Norwegian extension of this extraordinary business."The clandestine plan of the Celtic Church erecting cities and monasteries as markers in such a fashion that one with the use of The Golden Section was able to construct a gigantic pentagram across Southern Norway is also revealed. The geometry is illustrated by the author in easy to follow step-by-step diagrams.
The Celtic Church's form of Gnostic Christianity contained certain elements brought to them by the largest of the Gnostic sects, the Ophites who revered the serpent, as a symbol of Christ.
Following the Roman Emperors sanctioning of a certain breed of Christians in 325 CE, later known as the Roman Catholic Church, the Ophites and other Gnostics were persecuted, their scriptures confiscated and burned. They sought shelter in Syria, Egypt, Western and Northern Europe. A large number of their writings were found in the Egyptian desert at Nag Hammadi in 1945 CE. In the manuscripts one finds that Christ was called "The Beast." "The interpretation of "the beast" is "the instructor." For it was found to be the wisest of all beings."
The number of the Beast, 666 figures prominently in the holy geometry placed across Norway and is disclosed in an obscure fashion in a certain Viking saga describing the burial of the Viking king Olav, later canonised by the Celtic clergy. The book abounds with exciting Viking lore. A treasure cave which legend claims connects with Scotland under the sea, explored by the Orkney Earl Ragnvald in 1127 CE. turns out to be the upper left arm of the holy pentagram. The Stave Churches, peculiar to Norway abound with serpent imagery; serpents are carved on pillars and portals writhing all over the churches and church roofs are fashioned so as to mimic serpent skin.
From ca. 935 1015 the Celtic Church made secret arrangements with no less than three Vikings of royal descent intent upon ascending the Norwegian throne. In return for the opportunity to convert their country to the Gnostic Celtic Christianity and put their sacred geometry in place, they assisted the kings in creating and deploying the law and order of the church, making the people more governable.
The book also exposes the Catholic Churches murder of the first Norwegian Archbishop on his return from his inauguration in Constantinople. The East-Roman Empire with its seat in Constantinople was considered by many to be the centre of Christianity and differed from Rome in its beliefs, resulting in "the great schism" or definitive separation of Rome and Constantinople on religious matters. After the Roman Catholics murder in 1152 of the first Norwegian Archbishop they sent their own delegates unannounced from Rome to Norway and persuaded the Norwegian leaders to let them inaugurate an archbishop in Nidaros and a bishop in Hamar. Unknown to the Catholics Hamar was the last marker in the pentagram, and in inaugurating a bishop in Hamar they unwittingly completed the holy pentagram of their Celtic adversaries.

Product Description
Sacred Pilgrimage is both an inner and outer journey. It is designed to open us up to awakening and seeing life from a sacred point of view.A pilgrim may begin the journey because he or she is in need of a healing (such as a pilgrimage to Lourdes). However, what makes a journey sacred is the focus and intensity of a pilgrim’s prayer, meditation and purpose.

Many people have come to France over the last few years looking for the lost secrets of Mary Magdalene, and exploring the possibility that her child may have started the Merovingian royal bloodline. At this point there is no written document that can prove such a claim and also the Merovingian kings were killed a long time ago. But the builders of the cathedrals, the Knights Templar, left clues and secrets in their Sacred Architecture.

The gnostics of the South of France, the Cathars, left their mark in the form of both castles and fortresses. But their fortresses did not protect them from the Albigensian Crusade. This crusade was started by the Catholic Church of Rome to wipe out the gnostic religion. The Cathars believed that direct experience with the Divine was far more important than the written word. What do the Merovingian Kings, the Knights Templar and Cathars all have in common? They all acknowledge the need for the Divine Feminine.

France is filled with secrets. But many tourists come, visit and return home, without ever penetrating the depth of the Secrets of France. But beyond the esoteric secrets, the Sacred Sites of France still hold ancient power to answer prayers and bring healing to any sincere pilgrim.

The proper approach to a sacred site is the key that can decode the secrets and the truth that is hidden from the masses. I would like to make a few suggestions. Following them I have found deepens my experience when visiting sacred places.

Every Sacred Site has its own history and vibration. If you can understand the power of a particular site, then you can begin to understand how to align yourself with the site you are visiting. This book will be a guide to understanding both the vibration and also the Ley-Lines of the lands. It is very important to understand the power of the land that creates a Sacred Site.

You could also become aware of your inner process before you visit a site. I have found many times that when a particular issue within needs healing, it will arise the day or night before I visit the site. Because of this I usually pray or meditate the evening before. This prepares me for initiation.

I am very watchful for outer symbols along the way when I approach a site. When you arrive at your destination, take your time to really meditate and pray. Many times I have seen tourists come and go into the cathedrals without ever really sitting down and feeling and seeing what is really before them. It is through silent meditation and prayer that the Sacred will be revealed to you.It is more important to visit one place and have a deep experience of healing than visit a dozen places quickly and only walk away with a few photographs and no understanding of where you have been.

So I now would like to invite you to enter with me into the Mystical Journey of the Sacred Sites of this great nation we call France.
