5-0 out of 5 stars not just for children
this book is definitely not just for children. I am 22 years old and I loved this book. just like the others in the series, this book has a way of taking you back to when you were 14 or 15. It just amazes me how many of the issues that are talked about in this book, I remember having when I was in school. Everything from boyfriend troubles to teachers that you swear hate you. Its an easy and funny read. This book will keep you laughing and begging for more till the very last page. also a great book for teens who might be going through some of the problems that Georgia is facing. sometimes it helps to read about what your going through. The glossary in the back is also very amusing and helpful. I can not wait to finish reading the rest of the books in the series. i recommend this book to people of all ages. whether you are 15 and cant decide what boy you like better, or you are 99 and want to remember the good old days, and of course all ages in between.

5-0 out of 5 stars HILARIOUS!
This book is so funny and you will be forced to laugh aloud and only put it down to pick up the next installment.

4-0 out of 5 stars Georgia Nicolson is a blast!
Georgia Nicolson has become one of my favorite nutty characters. I love the books but this is not the best in the series. Yet it is hilarious, tremendously funny and it is impossible to have a bad day with the looney characters and crazy stories Louise Rennison brings to life. I am completely crazy about Angus, that wild and impossible cat.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dancing in my Nuddy-Pants
Georgia is back aqain! This series is hilarious! In this book Georgia and Robbie are still together, but Robbie isn't around that much. He's on tour with his band, The Stiff Dylans, in Hamburger-a-go-go-land, a.k.a the United States. Georgia is stuck in Great Britain. Georgia's family is still totally embarrasing, but they are really funny. You should definitely read this book and the rest of the series. These books have something funny written on every page. I couldn't put it down!

5-0 out of 5 stars Dancing In My Nuddy-Pants
I read the book Dancing In My Nuddy Pants, by Louise Rennison. This book is about a girl named Georgia Nicholson. She lives in England with her mom, dad, little sister Libby, and oddly large cat named Angus. This story is about the life of a normal teenage girl living in England.

There were many good parts in this book, but if I had to choose a favorite then I'd choose the time when she tripped "Elvis" with a wheelbarrow. Once Georgia was outside of "Elvis`" hut and she decided to pull a brutally mean joke on him. She placed a wheelbarrow outside of his hut and then she went to his window and screamed frantically like something was wrong. This caused "Elvis" too run out his door and trip over the wheelbarrow that Georgia put there, but Georgia got what she deserved and was suspended for a while.

I've read many books but Dancing In My Nuddy Pants was just a book that I could not put down. If you are seeking a hilarious book that you will love then I highly suggest reading this book. Georgia taught me things that I should never do, and so things that I should do. If this sounds interesting you might also want to read the first too, and then you can get this book to resume with the tale of Georgia Nicholson. But don't be sad when it's over because there are 7 books in this series. ... Read more

She has a precocious 3-year-old sister who tends to leave wetnappies at the foot of her bed, an insane cat who is prone toleg-shredding "Call of the Wild" episodes, and embarrassing parentswho make her want to escape to Stonehenge and dance with theDruids. No wonder 14-year-old Georgia Nicolson laments, "Honestly, what is the point?" A Bridget Jones for the younger set, Georgiarecords the momentous events of her life--and they are allmomentous--in her diary, which serves as a truly hilarious account ofwhat it means to be a modern girl on the cusp of womanhood. No matterthat her particular story takes place in England, the account of herexperiences rings true across the ocean (and besides, "Georgia'sGlossary" swiftly eradicates any language barriers).

The author, Louise Rennison, is a British comedy writer and it shows. Whether Georgia is dealing with wearing a bra ("OK, it's a bit on the looseside and does ride up round my neck if I run for the bus"), ponderingkissing and how to know which way to turn your head ("You don't want to bebobbing around like pigeons for hours"), or managing the results of anoverzealous eyebrow-plucking episode ("Obviously, now I have to stay inforever"), she always cracks us up. Georgia struggles with the myriadissues facing teen girls--boys, of course being at the forefront--but shedoes it with such humor and honesty it almost seems like a good time. Thisrefreshingly funny book is ripe for a sequel, which readers will await indroves. (Ages 11 and older). --Brangien Davis ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars What's not to like?
There are times when I just HAVE to read something to perk me up, something light and silly and mindless. Louise Rennison's books always do the trick. It doesn't hurt either that this first book in Confessions of Georgia Nicolson series is a winner of Printz Honor, proving that even the silliest story about make-up, boys, and snogging can be written brilliantly. Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snoggingnever takes itself seriously or tries to teach some kind of moral lesson. Instead, its only aim is to provide tons of fun; and the book succeeds at it every time I read it. I do not think there is any point for me to sing this novel any more praise to convince you to give it a try, rather, I will list some quotes here for you to see if Louise Rennison's humor is your cup of tea.

Dashing out of the house, Jas and I almost fell into Mark, waiting by the corner. Jas (big pal) said she had to run to her house first and she would see me at school. I went a bit red and walked on with him walking beside me. He said, "Have you got a boyfriend?"
I was speechless. What is the right answer to that question? I tell you what the right answer is... a lie, that's the right answer. So I said, "I've just come out of a heavy thing and I'm giving myself a bit of space."
He looked at me. He really did have the biggest gob [mouth:] I have ever seen. "So is that no?"
And I just stood there and then this really weird thing happened... he touched my breast!!! I don't mean he ripped my blouse off, he just rested his hand on the front of my breast. Just for a second, before he turned and went off to school.

12:30 p.m.
What does it mean when a boy rests his hand on your breast? Does it mean he has a megahorn? Or was his hand just tired?

4:30 p.m.
Why am I even thinking about this? No sign of Mark (the breast molester) when I got home, thank goodness.

Still, you would think if a boy rests his hand on your breast he might bother to see you sometime.

5-0 out of 5 stars A hilarious and fun read for all ages based on a STELLAR main character
Ever since I first picked up Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging, this series has been my absolute favorite, no matter what genre I was interested in at the time. The series is about Georgia Nicolson, a 14 year old (at the beginning) British girl who is full of wit. The books are in the format of her diary and chronicle her relationships with her friends, family, and boys and also follow her on her adventures to Scotland, France, and on a camping trip as well as daily life at Stalag 14 (aka school).
While the plot seems pretty basic, teenager being a teenager going through teenage stuff, these books are magic because of Georgia and the other characters. Even with a more complex plot, some books still fall flat because the characters are just so bland. But Georgia is the type of character who is fascinating and endearing. You feel like you know her and when you put the book down you say "Darn, she's not really my friend" and you wish you were back in her world. For 10 books I've laughed with her and I've felt her anger and I've felt her heartbreak. Georgia is truly funny and although she sometimes doesn't view the world as it really is, the way she views it is still very interesting. And then there are the supporting characters. Georgia's best friend loves nature and tells Georgia like it is, her other friend has turned into a Viking princess because of having a (very funny) Swedish boyfriend, her parents are embarrassingly funny, her toddler aged sister is crazy (although this is fiction I did worry about Libby and how she would turn out when she's older) and then there are boys of Georgia's life. All of the characters are so unique and not the stereotypical supporting characters of a teen novel. Each of the characters have personalities that go beyond a simple surface personality (shy and conservative or and outgoing prankster for example). The personalities the supporting characters have seem much more multi-dimensional then they usually seem to go in teen stories. For example, Georgia's best friend Jas has a passion for nature and being outdoors that she shares with her boyfriend (who is the brother of a Sex God). Jas likes to go on nature scouts with her boyfriend and she has a collection of stuffed owls on her bed. Jas will always tell Georgia the truth and not what Georgia just wants to hear. Another friend, Rosie, is the girlfriend of a Swedish exchange student. Because of this she sparks interest of Viking culture in the girls which leads to very interesting Viking inspired dance routines. Even down to Georgia's cat Angus, all the characters are familiar yet have dimensions to them that I've never seen in any other book. I think Rennison's knack for creating characters is really what made this series shine because they are not your average contemporary characters.
Also contributing to the story is the language used. Some of it is British slang which can be confusing for a reader State-side. But Rennison also has made up words that the reader will find infectious once they realize they used a term from the book in their everyday life. I also love how at the back it has a glossary to go over the British terms and the made up ones and the glossary (along with the scales and dance routines) has become a staple throughout the series.
Because the series is so funny and simple but utterly enjoyable, it has been reprinted in multiple languages, has been re-published in multi-book copies with new covers for the adult set, has had a recent cover makeover for the US market, and has recently been made into a movie version. These books have proven to be wildly successful and great for all ages. It's a perfectly suitable series for kids in middle school as the content is pretty mild, but it is also funny enough for adult readers to be entertained. If you're looking for light, fun reading (especially for over the summer or even to read during breaks at work) I definitely would recommend this series. You can read just Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging but I would suggest planning on reading the series in its entirety because you won't want to stop after the first book. 10 books may seem daunting but I promise that these are very quick and enjoyable reads.

5-0 out of 5 stars An endless laugh
This book really embodies the humor of Britain. It is hilarious and a wicked laugh. Georgia really has an endless supply of teenage moments that keep you in stitches, but the real star is her cat Angus who steals the show with his subtle moments. I really enjoyed the story.

5-0 out of 5 stars LOL gurl stuff!!!;]

This book is very interesting. This is the only thing I'm going to tell you that in case if a boy reads this because this book has like "cuties" I guess and this also has stuff about boys. So there's this girl that has never had a boyfriend and that girl is called Georgia. Her friends are helping her to find one type of guy. It turns out to be that the two boys out of the whole school are the hottest ones there for them. They go to those boys grocery store and they pretend that their going to buy something. Her friends push her into the one that she likes. That boy that she likes already has a girlfriend and that girlfriend that he has Georgia doesn't like her as much. They flirt and the boy that Georgia likes doesn't like his girlfriend no more because he meet Georgia. Georgia finds out that Robbie's girlfriend had stuffed her bra. He asks her right in front of the whole school and she gets embarrassed. Robbie leaves her and goes out with Georgia. Robbie and Georgia get into a fight. They work things out and they kiss. At the end Georgia has a a "small" party but... when her mom says that she's going to a club she doesn't ha ha they just made a huge party for her and i mean a huge a big party. Mostly the people that she didn't even know went to her party. Robbie had gave her, her birthday kiss. OMG this girl had an awsome party ,also because she had dreamed to have a party like this and her parents were so cool. I have to mention this but Georgia is the most luckiest girl ever, her parents are the bomb digity. Well I'm not going to spoil the rest for you ha ha find out.Oh and the last thing i will tell you about this is that this is also similar to the book of "I'd Tell You I Love YOU,But Than I'd Have to Kill You" by:Ally Carter

5-0 out of 5 stars Yeah, that's what it's like

FOR USE IN SCHOOLS AND LIBRARIES ONLY. Unlucky and unloved, Molly Moon, living in a dreary orphanage in a small English town, discovers a hidden talent for hypnotism and hypnotizes her way to stardom in New York City.Amazon.com Review
She might not be as photogenic as Harry Potter, but the charming Molly Moon makes up the difference in pluck in this somewhat similar story of a put-upon English orphan who finds that she has abilities beyond her wildest imagining.

Georgia Byng's debut novel has already swept to such success that it's due for translation in over 20 countries, with a movie version following close behind (produced by Harry Potter's David Heyman, natch). And with such a genuinely likeable (if straightforward) story and heroine, it's not hard to see why. Molly Moon struggles to survive in Hardwick House, an orphanage apparently run by and for caricatures--the beastly mistress Miss Adderstone and her bad-tempered pug, the muscly Gordon Boils (who tattooed "KING GORD" on the fingers of his fists with a compass and ink), creepy Roger Fibbin with his "sharp nose and cold, spying eyes." But as all wish-fulfillment adventures must go, Molly's life is changed one fateful day, as an arcane book draws out her special talent--she can hypnotize anybody to do anything she wants!

Byng makes good use of her otherwise mundane cast with plenty of wry asides (like Molly's fixation on the transformative promise of advertising), great running jokes (especially the metamorphosis of the orphanage's hard-boiled cook into a proud Italian capocuoco), some clever plot sleight-of-hand, and ample funny descriptions (as when Molly finds herself in the Royal Suite at the Waldorf: "She wasn't sure about the Jacuzzi. It was like ten monsters farting in her bath all at once."). (Ages 9 to 12) --Paul Hughes ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Book Review for Molly Moons by A.J Johnson
Molly Moons the Incredible Book of Hypnotism

This book is about a girl named Molly who thinks she has a terrible life then she goes on an amazing journey around the world. Later on, she figures out that all she ever wanted was to have some friends. This book is called Molly moons the Incredible book of hypnotism because Molly learns how to hypnotize people. She uses her amazing ability with greed to get whatever she wants. Georgia has a way that makes her morals stand out in her stories.

In this book I would say that the author Georgia Byng puts the feeling that when you have almost everything all you need is friends. She also explains that if you think you have everything you want there is always something that you want deep down in your heart. She explains this by letting a teenager have the time of her life, but in the end all she has as a friend is a dog named Petula. She discovers that all she wants is her old friend Rocky back.

I think this book is a nice and interesting story mixed in with some life lessons. I think this is a very good book to read if you like a fun story with a twist. All the great adventures in this book make you feel like you're there the whole time. If you're about 8 to 11 this is a great book for you.

In this book a girl named Molly finds a Hypnotism book and she uses her powers to get whatever she wants. She uses her power to make everyone at her orphanage nice to her. That was just step one. She convinced people that she was a famous superstar. Later she discovers that all she wants is some friends, so she goes to find her best friend Rocky. She eventually finds him and then they are convinced to go back to the orphanage. After that, their life is happy especially that everyone at the orphanage is nice to them now.

3-0 out of 5 stars Mezmerizingly mediocre
I like a unique story as much as the next person. And this story has an original plot. An advertisement obsessed orphan girl leaves the only home she's known to track down her best friend, who has been adopted by a family that lives somewhere near NYC. Luckily, before doing so she stumbles upon a book that details methods for mesmerizing. By doing so she foils a bad man's attempts to obtain and use its techniques on unsuspecting victims. Bad man learns about girl with book, girl, through trickery, wins talent show, tries to evade bad man while living lavishly off her winnings at a fancy hotel. Girl with book, Molly Moon, obtains cute dog through trickery. Girl must engage in illegal activity in order to retrieve a loved one (fortunately, by this time she's well-versed at this type of behavior). So she tricks more persons. Eventually, mostly through trickery, she locates her friend, solves a mini-mystery, helps others, and finds happiness.

Between the tremendous amount of trickery and the author's attempts to excuse her main characters' bad behaviors, the book's message is nowhere near, "honesty is the best policy." The simplistic writing added little to its likeability. In summary: a basic book with a hypnotic plot filled with mixed messages. Better: A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket, The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart, and Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery.

As i read this book i felt like i was really there going on all the adventures with Molly. I would reccomend this book to anyone that is ready to read one of the best books in their life!

5-0 out of 5 stars Molly Moon's Incredible Book of Hypnotism
I purchased this book for my two oldest Grandsons for a Valentine's Day gift. One Grandson reads anything and everything he sees; the other one reads next to nothing. Both of the boys thoroughly enjoyed this book.In fact, the non-reader was reading it during class and when he would ususlly be playing outside. They loved it.Both boys are 11 years old.

5-0 out of 5 stars She who is hypnotized, hypnotizes!
The title is a spoiler, but reader, only if you can work out what I mean, will know the ending to the book!
Molly Moon is living the life of the beggar. She isn't one bit pretty or talented. She is bullied, she always gets into trouble, she only has one friend. Her friend is Rocky Scarlet, who is a lot calmer and popular at school.
Then one day at the library, Molly finds a book on hypnotism, and the adventure begins...She takes the book, learns its lessons, and after learning that Rocky is adopted, she flies to New York to find him.
Someone is following her. A villian that knows her secret, and decides to kidnap her dog Petula, who was the first subject of Molly's hypnotism.
There is a suprise in store for the reader! Why did Molly find the book? Who is this villian? This review is a real spoiler, but I want to talk about this book soooooo much!
Can I hypnotize you to "find" the book and keep it? AND READ IT!!!!!!!!! ... Read more

So life should be perfect .... except in Georgia's life, nothing is ever perfect.Readers will be laughing ( and groaning!) out loud all through this "fabbity-fab-fab" sequel!

    Amazon.com Review
Fourteen-year-old Georgia Nicolson is back in British author Louise Rennison's irreverent, laugh-out-loud sequel to the Michael L. Printz Honor Book Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging. Written in diary form, these truly hilarious books chronicle the often minute-by-minute, very dramatic, and significant flip-flops of a teenager's psyche.

    7:18 p.m.
My eyes are all swollen up like mice eyes from crying. Even my nose is swollen. It's not small at the best of times, but now it looks like I've got three cheeks. Marvelous. Thank you, God.

    9:00 p.m.
    I'll never get over this.

    9:10 p.m.
Time goes very slowly when you're suicidal.

What tragedy has her so distraught? Her parents have told her she's moving to New Zealand just when she's managed to snog (kiss--look it up in the glossary) the SG (Sex God, a.k.a Robbie). This is of course not the only source of drama in Georgia's eventful life. Her half Scottish wildcat, Angus, who is the size of a small Labrador, herds the poodles next door and terrorizes the neighborhood. Her little sister, Libby, who is slightly mad, stores her "pooey knickers" and her scuba-diving Barbie doll in Georgia's bed. Her mother (from whom she inherited her orangutan eyebrow gene and possibly her "gigantic basoomas") is clearly inhabiting Earth solely to make her life miserable, and even her best friend Jas is "half girl, half turnip."

Despite the fact that she's spared from going to "Kiwi-a-gogo land," things don't get much better for Georgia. She's suspended for a childish prank right before her dad returns from New Zealand, she falls in love with the SG who dumps her for being too young, and Dave, the "red-herring" boyfriend she's using to make the SG jealous calls her a "heartless whatsit." And, she continues, "the spot on my bum is probably a boil. I wonder what Buddha would do now?" Rennison's comedic timing is brilliant. Adolescent angst ("I hope I am not driven to the brink of madness by grief") vanishes less than an hour later ("Angus can fetch sticks!!!") and sometimes even sooner. (Warning: Do not read this book while riding a train or bus unless you don't care what people think of intermittent explosive laughter. Seriously.) (Ages 12 and older) --Karin Snelson ... Read more

If you don't enjoy laughing hysterically until your sides hurt, do not read On the Bright Side, I'm now the Girlfriend of a Sex God. Even when your "sheer desperadoes," it will have you bursting into laughter regardless of whether or not you're in a public place.
I've noticed some of the reviews indicate not to purchase this book, because "Georgia [the main character] is every stereotype about girls we don't want to keep alive." Should we notify the author of her moral indignity of publishing such trashy material? Could she be oblivious to the fact? Is she implying that young girls should act this way? Of course not. Anyone who believes such ridiculous statements has apparently never studied literature and has certainly never studied satire, which finds its humor in holding up to ridicule the vices and follies of mankind.
I read this novel as a fourteen-year-old, like Georgia herself. I did not feel at all compelled to attempt to create a lunchbox out of my hair beret, and I wasn't convinced that I was going to be knocked out by my own "nunga-nungas." Likewise, I recognized that "snogging" boys does not bring happiness. This book showed me how silly some of the teenage fads were, and after reading it, I was less inclined to be a part of them.
I entirely recommend buying this book either for yourself or your teenage daughters. Rather than encouraging stereotypical behavior, I believe this book discourages it, and in the process, it brings a smile to your face.

4-0 out of 5 stars More of the same (in a good way)
The only thing I am going to say here is that Dave the Laugh is the best boyfriend ever. I have no idea why, for so long, I thought the Sex God Robbie was a good choice for Georgia. Dave is a total dream boat...

...and yes, I know I am twice his age.

This snippet is for my present and future entertainment:

    "8:35 pm
You can make a sort of nose sling out of pair of knickers [panties:]! Like a sort of antigravity device. You put a leg hole over each ear and the middley bit supports your nose. It's quite comfy. I'm not saying that it looks very glamorous. I'm just saying it's comfy.

    8:40 pm
It's not something I would wear outside of the privacy of my own bedroom.

    8:45 pm
It's a good view from my windowsill. I can see Mr. Next Door with his stupid poodles. He's all happy now that Angus has gone off poodle baiting in favor of the Burmese sex kitten.

    8:46 pm
Oh hello, here comes Mark, my ex, the breast fondler. At this rate he will be the one and only fondler. I will die unfondled. He must be coming home from footie practice. I don't know how I could ever have thought about snogging him; he wears extremely tragic trousers. He is looking up at my window. He has seen me. He's stopped walking and is looking up at my window. Staring at me. Well, you know what they say - once a boy magnet always a boy magnet. I'm just going to stare back in a really cool way. All right, Mr. Big Gob, Mr. Dumper. I might be the dumpee but you still can't take your eyes away from me though, can you??? I still fascinate him. He's just looking up at me. Just staring and staring.
    Mesmerized by me.

    8:50 pm
Oh my god! I am still wearing my nose hammock made out of knickers.

    8:56 pm
Mark will tell all his mates.

    8:57 pm
He will now call me a knicker-sniffer as well as a lesbian..."

2-0 out of 5 stars Bad condition
So when I bought the book, the seller said, "very good" for the condition.
When I received it like a week later, I found the book to be missing like several pages,
about the first 80 pages or so.
    In conclusion, it sucked.

    4-0 out of 5 stars from [...]
Okay, so On the Bright Side, I'm Now the Girlfriend of a Sex God picks up almost exactly where Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging left off (two days later to be specific). As Georgia continues her diary, she is very disillusioned by the prospect of going to visit her father in New Zealand on "the other (useless) side of the universe" instead of having time to spend (snogging) with Robbie--the Sex God.

Like the first book in this series, this one basically just follows a few months in Georgia's life. Mayhem continues to follow Georgia as she and her friend devise new Beret-wearing methods at school among other kinds of mischief. This includes some chaos on the hockey field (the first book featured a rather disastrous tennis match). Rennison writes Georgia as a bit of a spaz--always thinking about herself and her appearance, heaping scorn upon Robbie's more studious ex--so it's nice to see her being athletic without really trying and without any ulterior motive.

Meanwhile, Georgia also has to figure out how to get back in Robbie's good graces when he once again decides that she is too young for him. Part of her plan? Maturiosity and Glaceriosity. Yes.

Basically anything funny that came up in the first book has been revisited in this one. A personal favorite: Georgia's continued bewilderment when faced with the phrase "see you later." (Does it mean "see you later" or something else? No one knows.) There are a lot of developments in this volume in terms of inter-character relations (Georgia, her friends, Robbie, and so on). But there isn't as much intra-character development. Again. By the end of the book, Georgia does have some new quandaries to think about (is it a problem that the SG doesn't make her laugh for instance), but it's still too early to tell if her new introspection will lead to a bit of enlightenment.

By the time I read this book (in a day), I was basically over my qualms about liking Georgia but feeling like I shouldn't. The plots are simple and fun, Georgia makes me laugh. It's fine.

That said, I have noticed that, like a few other laugh-out-loud funny books for teens, this one gets a lot of the humor from Georgia having kind of low self-esteem. A running theme in both books is Georgia bemoaning her ugliness as a result of her large nose. It doesn't really impact the story, or send any message about beauty ideals or anything, I just wish Georgia could be a little more sure of herself. All of her friends (and snogging partners) seem to indicate that people think Georgia is pretty cool. I wish that she would figure that out as well. Maybe in the next book . . .

5-0 out of 5 stars Hilarious sequel to Angus Thongs and full frontal snogging
This book is just as funny as the first and all of these books are amazing ... Read more
