It is one of the most heavily used marine preserves in the world, drawing over one million visitors per year. The Hanauma Bay Education Project is a non-profit volunteer-based organization whose mission is to enhance appreciation and promote understanding and stewardship of the marine and coastal environment. P ERMITS ARE REQUIRED Visiting school and community groups are reuquired to obtain a permit prior to visiting Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve.
