Extractions: T his should be considered a work in progress since the number of web sites devoted to historical documents and related material increase almost on a daily basis. I have seen more sources for documents, manuscripts, maps and other important historical material in the past several weeks than I have in years as a teacher. My constant thought is how valuable this would have been to my students if we had had access to it in the classroom. No normal school budget in the world would allow the purchases of the hundreds of books, even if they were available, to supply a classroom with material available at the click of a mouse. Now many thousands of classrooms can access the Internet, but unfortunately the majority can not. Hopefully this will change in the not too distant future. T here are several excellent sites on the web which have outstanding collections of historical documents or links to other web sites which contain such material. Three that come to mind immediately are the University of Oklahoma and its excellent A Chronology of U.S. Historical Documents
