Holiday Happenings
Holiday Happenings.I really do like the book and it is in really good condition with all of the patterns in the book.I like to quilt and to make things for the holidays and so I am excited to get to making the different patterns in the book

I am only commenting on the second review. I do not understand how the written review is good but only gave it two stars.... At least three would have maybe understood. So I give it five just to boot the stars up as they should be.

GOOSEBERRY PATCH CELEBRATE THE SEASONS
I LOVED THIS BOOK.ESPECIALLY THE CRAFTS.I MADE THE "GIVE THANKS" SAMPLER AND IT WAS EASY AND EVERYONE LOVES IT.THIS IS MY SECOND GOOSEBERRY PATCH BOOK, AND I WILL BE BUYING MORE.

Not as creative as the Christmas series
I was very excited about this book when I first heard about it. I love the Christmas series and have several other cookbooks from them and love them dearly! This book just didnt live up to the other books I have though.
Most of the recipes in this book seem to be repetitions of recipes from their other books. There are a few things that are different and new but if you have any of their other books you probably have a recipe for 90% of the items offered.
Also the crafting ideas just arent as inspiring as their Christmas crafts. I have enjoyed decorating my home for the holidays with the help of Gooseberry but this just didnt have the same origionality as the other books.
Maybe they just spread themselves too thin trying to cover one whole year in one book. But I think if you have any of their other books than you can pass on this one. ... Read more

Beautiful color photos, short on practicality.
I am still trying to figure out where the 501 crafts are in this book, considering there are only 224 pages. The photos and projects that are included arecolorful and beautiful, but not practical. I'd have to make a few trips to the store to purchase the materials needed for these projects. Better to subscribe to a magazine like "Pack-o-fun" or buy a different book if you are looking for projects you will actually take time to create.

501 Fun to Make Family Crafts
We are enjoying tthis craft book.Lots of fun ideas to do with the kids!!

Wow!So many different projects in all seasons!
In this book, they grouped the projects with nice symbols and by season to make it easier for you.There are Nature Projects, Back-to-School Projects, Bird Projects, Sport Projects, Pumpkin Decorations, and a whole lot more!The Cool Paper Book Covers in the Fall Season are a good project for kids (as well as a lot of other projects for kids).My favorite project in the book are the heart embellished Valentine Day cards.I haven't made any of those projects yet, but I am sure I will have so much fun making them! :-)

The wife enjoys all kinds of crafts. When she saw this book she knew it would be a keeper. She enjoys working up things to make with the kids. It provides a lot of things we can make with the kids. A fun family time.

If You Like to Decorate for the Holidays this is Your Book!
Even though this book is from 1992 it has many projects that could be made right now (2010) to decorate your home for the holidays.I really took a fancy to the "Bear for All Seasons". The basic bear can be made and then decorated or dressed for the holidays; for Valentines, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Independence Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
At the front of the book the author takes the time to help you understand your scraps, and the colors and the fiber and how much fabric you will need, and all techniques are carefully explained.
The book also includes some aprons, pillows,place-mats and napkins rings that did seem a little dated, but the wall quilts and different wreaths are still very OK for now.There is a pattern for stuffed fabricEaster Bunny, Witch, a Christmas rag doll, with clothes, a fabric tree top angel and Santa Claus. There is also a pattern for a stocking for your dog or cat. Also a soft-sided fabric Haunted house has very detailed patterns including the spider webs and ghosts in the windows and door falling off the hinges.
A totally interesting item in the book is the "Celebration vest".This vest saves you time because every holiday is represented on the vest.It is string pieced and a quilted as you go concept, so you can get done quite quickly. It is an interesting concept that bears looking into.

cute and simple but for youngsters only
This is a cute book but it is definitely a kids only craft book.I know it says ages 9-12 in the description but I still hoped there would be something of use for older kids and young adults but there really wasn't.It's also very thin-- it's 48 pages and doesn't have that many projects in it.For a book that costs more than $20, I was disappointed.It's a nice book... just not worth the price, I thought.

This was a simple, yet exciting book. My kids and I love it! I am a big fan of anything Day of the Dead and this was a great way for the kids to learn and share in this important holiday.

Beautiful Presentation but Sparse on Content
An interesting, if somewhat sparse, collection of recipes for the titular ingredient awaits this work's reader. The recipes are well written and include the usual fare of pumpkin pie, pumpkin bread, pumpkin muffins and a few varieties of pumpkin stew. I was hoping for a few surprises, but I think the closest were pumpkin flan and pumpkin ice cream. There are, however, some interesting non-food uses of pumpkins illustrated such as soup tureens, decorations, and the like for some innovative pumpkin projects. It's worth checking out if your library carries it but unlike most books from Ten Speed Press, one could probably live without owning it. ... Read more

Great Ideas!
This book is packed with great ideas. I especially liked all the ideas for making ornaments and playing family games and activities. Many of the ideas in this book would make great family Christmas traditions. There is also a CD (sold separately) which contains the book in full color and full size 8 1/2 X 11 pages. This is great for the activities and patterns that require copying or printing.

If you are like me and don't have a lot of time, the ideas in this book are great because you can follow the instructions and patterns and have great projects and activities completed in no time.

I ordered this book along with The Big Book of Halloween Fun (Paperback), both authored by Susie Johns.Both were tremendous disappointments.This book lacks in imagination and more important for Halloween ideas . . . PHOTOS!As filler the author slips in childish Halloween jokes and offers very little in the way of Halloween decorating.I would not buy this book again.
