Extractions: Take me to: UW Medicine Home Harborview Medical Center Support Harborview Why Support HMC? How To Make A Gift Fundraising Events Donor Recognition Development Team Perhaps more than any other institution in the Puget Sound region, Harborview reaches out to the entire community. Harborview is one of the two teaching hospitals of the University of Washington, and is the only Level I Pediatric and Adult Trauma Center serving Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. Harborview is a safety net for anyone in a traumatic accident. The facility is ready to care for the most complex injuries and illness 24 hours a day. No one is ever turned away from Harborview because of inability to pay. Nearly 70 percent of Harborview's patients are reimbursed through Medicare, Medicaid or are uninsured. Harborview does not receive operating support from King County, and provides more non-reimbursable patient care than any other hospital in the Puget Sound region. As reimbursement shrinks, our need for private support grows. Increasingly, we rely on the generosity of our staff, our community friends, and corporate and foundation philanthropy. The dedication of those who work at Harborview is demonstrated each year in our Staff Campaign. In 2002, more than 1,240 Harborview faculty and staff participated in the Staff Campaign, raising $235,000 for patient care enhancement at the hospital.
