Science Immunology: Biology 426 Course description and goals: Immunology is one of the most interdisciplinary fields within Biology. In order to become knowledgeable in Immunology, students must build upon a foundation of Genetics, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology and, of course, the chemical principles underlying all these disciplines. This course will try to cover all aspects of basic iminunology, with reference to clinical immunology toward the end of the semester. The text devotes considerable print to the experimental studies which lead to the immunological principles. In addition, in order for students to gain familiarity with the current literature and to assist their development as writers, short papers will be assigned throughout the semester. Current papers will also be assigned for reading throughout the semester. By the courses's completion, the student should now possess a foundation of knowledge in Inununology, and hopefully their writing skills will be sharpened.
