Product Description
On the demand side, exporters and strategic planners focusing on pianos, automatic pianos, harpsichords, and other keyboard stringed instruments in Austria face a number of questions. Which countries are supplying pianos, automatic pianos, harpsichords, and other keyboard stringed instruments to Austria? How important is Austria compared to others in terms of the entire global and regional market? How much do the imports of pianos, automatic pianos, harpsichords, and other keyboard stringed instruments vary from one country of origin to another in Austria? On the supply side, Austria also exports pianos, automatic pianos, harpsichords, and other keyboard stringed instruments. Which countries receive the most exports from Austria? How are these exports concentrated across buyers? What is the value of these exports and which countries are the largest buyers?

This report was created for strategic planners, international marketing executives and import/export managers who are concerned with the market for pianos, automatic pianos, harpsichords, and other keyboard stringed instruments in Austria. With the globalization of this market, managers can no longer be contented with a local view. Nor can managers be contented with out-of-date statistics which appear several years after the fact. I have developed a methodology, based on macroeconomic and trade models, to estimate the market for pianos, automatic pianos, harpsichords, and other keyboard stringed instruments for those countries serving Austria via exports, or supplying from Austria via imports. It does so for the current year based on a variety of key historical indicators and econometric models.

In what follows, Chapter 2 begins by summarizing where Austria fits into the world market for imported and exported pianos, automatic pianos, harpsichords, and other keyboard stringed instruments. The total level of imports and exports on a worldwide basis, and those for Austria ... Read more

Product Description
This econometric study covers the latent demand outlook for non-electronic cymbals, drums, timpani, vibraphones, and other percussion musical instruments across the states, union territories and cities of India. Latent demand (in millions of U.S. dollars), or potential industry earnings (P.I.E.) estimates are given across over 3,700 cities in India. For each city in question, the percent share the city is of it's state or union territory and of India as a whole is reported. These comparative benchmarks allow the reader to quickly gauge a city vis-a-vis others. This statistical approach can prove very useful to distribution and/or sales force strategies. Using econometric models which project fundamental economic dynamics within each state or union territory and city, latent demand estimates are created for non-electronic cymbals, drums, timpani, vibraphones, and other percussion musical instruments. This report does not discuss the specific players in the market serving the latent demand, nor specific details at the product level. The study also does not consider short-term cyclicalities that might affect realized sales. The study, therefore, is strategic in nature, taking an aggregate and long-run view, irrespective of the players or products involved.

This econometric study covers the world outlook for non-electronic cymbals, drums, timpani, vibraphones, and other percussion musical instruments across more than 200 countries. For each year reported, estimates are given for the latent demand, or potential industry earnings (P.I.E.), for the country in question (in millions of U.S. dollars), the percent share the country is of the region and of the globe. The study, therefore, is strategic in nature, taking an aggregate and long-run view, irrespective of the players or products involved. This study does not report actual sales data (which are simply unavailable, in a comparable or consistent manner in virtually all of the 230 countries of the world). This study gives, however, my estimates for the worldwide latent demand, or the P.I.E., for non-electronic cymbals, drums, timpani, vibraphones, and other percussion musical instruments. It also shows how the P.I.E. is divided across the world's regional and national markets. For each country, I also show my estimates of how the P.I.E. grows over time (positive or negative growth). In order to make these estimates, a multi-stage methodology was employed that is often taught in courses on international strategic planning at graduate schools of business. ... Read more

I have developed a methodology, based on macroeconomic and trade models, to estimate the market for pianos, automatic pianos, harpsichords, and other keyboard stringed instruments for those firms serving the world via exports and foreign direct investment. It does so for the current year based on a variety of key historical indicators and econometric models. In what follows, this report begins by summarizing the world exporter's market for pianos, automatic pianos, harpsichords, and other keyboard stringed instruments. The total level of exports on a worldwide basis is based on a model that aggregates across over 150 key country markets and projects these to the current year. From there, each country represents a percent of the world market. This market is served from a number of competitive countries of origin. Based on supply-side dynamics, market shares by country of origin are then calculated across each country market. These shares lead to a volume of import values for each country and are aggregated to regional and world totals. In doing so, we are able to obtain maximum likelihood estimates of both the value of each market and the shares that competitors (countries serving that market) are likely to receive this year. From these figures, world rankings are calculated to allow managers to prioritize markets. In this way, all the figures provided in this report are forecasts that can be combined with internal information for strategic planning purposes. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Interesting but just scratches the surface
I had higher hopes for this book. From looking at the table of contents it appeared that the author had the best of intentions by trying to examine various aspects of Becker/Fagen music but he stretched himself to thin. The result is that we have very basic assessments of , for example, common chordal Dan practices supported by a few examples. And then we are on to the next topic. I have little objection to the information presented and it does provide some food for thought and does promote a greater interest in looking more intensely at the workd of Steely Dan both as a listener and a musician. But its just a survey as opposed to an in-depth analysis of their work. To be fair, I like the material but there just isn't enough of it. I think that the author should have perhaps left out the material on lyrics and themes and gotten more deeply into the music. If you want an interesting look into Fagen's motivations and chordal selections check out his DVD with Warren Bernhardt called "Concepts For Jazz/Rock Piano". I've mined that DVD any number of times and still get gold from it.

Product Description
This econometric study covers the latent demand outlook for dental broaches, cutting instruments, forceps, pliers, and other hand instruments across the regions of Greater China, including provinces, autonomous regions (Guangxi, Nei Mongol, Ningxia, Xinjiang, Xizang - Tibet), municipalities (Beijing, Chongqing, Shanghai, and Tianjin), special administrative regions (Hong Kong and Macau), and Taiwan (all hereafter referred to as "regions"). Latent demand (in millions of U.S. dollars), or potential industry earnings (P.I.E.) estimates are given across some 1,100 cities in Greater China. For each major city in question, the percent share the city is of the region and of Greater China is reported. Each major city is defined as an area of "economic population", as opposed to the demographic population within a legal geographic boundary. For many cities, the economic population is much larger that the population within the city limits; this is especially true for the cities of the Western regions. For the coastal regions, cities which are close to other major cities or which represent, by themselves, a high percent of the regional population, actual city-level population is closer to the economic population (e.g. in Beijing). Based on this "economic" definition of population, comparative benchmarks allow the reader to quickly gauge a city's marketing and distribution value vis-a-vis others. This report does not discuss the specific players in the market serving the latent demand, nor specific details at the product level. The study also does not consider short-term cyclicalities that might affect realized sales. This statistical approach can prove very useful to distribution and/or sales force strategies. Using econometric models which project fundamental economic dynamics within each prefecture and city, latent demand estimates are created for dental broaches, cutting instruments, forceps, pliers, and other hand instruments. This report does not discuss the specific players in the market serving the latent demand, nor specific details at the product level. The study also does not consider short-term cyclicalities that might affect realized sales. The study, therefore, is strategic in nature, taking an aggregate and long-run view, irrespective of the players or products involved.

This study does not report actual sales data (which are simply unavailable, in a comparable or consistent manner in virtually all of the cities in Japan). This study gives, however, my estimates for the latent demand, or the P.I.E., for dental broaches, cutting instruments, forceps, pliers, and other hand instruments in Japan. It also shows how the P.I.E. is divided and concentrated across the cities and regional markets of Japan. For each prefecture, I also show my estimates of how the P.I.E. grows over time. In order to make these estimates, a multi-stage methodology was employed that is often taught in courses on strategic planning at graduate schools of business. ... Read more

Product Description
This econometric study covers the world outlook for mouthpieces, music stands, strings, and other musical instrument parts and accessories sold separately excluding strings for non-electronic pianos, benches, and instrument cases across more than 200 countries. For each year reported, estimates are given for the latent demand, or potential industry earnings (P.I.E.), for the country in question (in millions of U.S. dollars), the percent share the country is of the region and of the globe. These comparative benchmarks allow the reader to quickly gauge a country vis-à-vis others. Using econometric models which project fundamental economic dynamics within each country and across countries, latent demand estimates are created. This report does not discuss the specific players in the market serving the latent demand, nor specific details at the product level. The study also does not consider short-term cyclicalities that might affect realized sales. The study, therefore, is strategic in nature, taking an aggregate and long-run view, irrespective of the players or products involved. This study does not report actual sales data (which are simply unavailable, in a comparable or consistent manner in virtually all of the 230 countries of the world). This study gives, however, my estimates for the worldwide latent demand, or the P.I.E., for mouthpieces, music stands, strings, and other musical instrument parts and accessories sold separately excluding strings for non-electronic pianos, benches, and instrument cases. It also shows how the P.I.E. is divided across the world's regional and national markets. For each country, I also show my estimates of how the P.I.E. grows over time (positive or negative growth). In order to make these estimates, a multi-stage methodology was employed that is often taught in courses on international strategic planning at graduate schools of business. ... Read more

Product Description
This report was created for global strategic planners who cannot be content with traditional methods of segmenting world markets. With the advent of a "borderless world", cities become a more important criteria in prioritizing markets, as opposed to regions, continents, or countries. This report covers the top 2000 cities in over 200 countries. It does so by reporting the estimated market size (in terms of latent demand) for each major city of the world. It then ranks these cities and reports them in terms of their size as a percent of the country where they are located, their geographic region (e.g. Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East, North America, Latin America), and the total world market.

In performing various economic analyses for its clients, I have been occasionally asked to investigate the market potential for various products and services across cities. The purpose of the studies is to understand the density of demand within a country and the extent to which a city might be used as a point of distribution within its region. From an economic perspective, however, a city does not represent a population within rigid geographical boundaries. To an economist or strategic planner, a city represents an area of dominant influence over markets in adjacent areas. This influence varies from one industry to another, but also from one period of time to another.

In what follows, I summarize the economic potential for the world's major cities for "dental broaches, cutting instruments, forceps, pliers, and other hand instruments" for the year 2009. The goal of this report is to report my findings on the real economic potential, or what an economist calls the latent demand, represented by a city when defined as an area of dominant influence. The reader needs to realize that latent demand may or may not represent real sales. ... Read more
