As a part of that sessions Legislative Bill 898, it allowed the high school districts in affiliated systems to make up for the state aid loss by exceeding the statutory levy limitation. Upon a three-fourths majority vote of the high school districts school board, the system may exceed the maximum levy prescribed by law in an amount equal to the net difference between the amount of state aid that would have been provided and the amount provided under the act. In order to make up for reduced state aid, the board discussed exceeding the maximum levy limit prescribed by law for LPS in the amount of $ 2,718,776.85 as certified by the State Department of Education, under the laws of the state of Nebraska. The board approved exceeding the maximum levy limit.
