They are provided under the auspices of New Jersey public institutes of higher education. Public college-operated programs represent one of many placement options public school districts may consider in meeting individualized education needs of students. Consistent with regulations governing all receiving schools, public college-operated programs must comply with federal and state special education regulations. Compliance monitoring is carried out by the Department of Education. Tuition rates, however, are determined solely by the individual school and not by the Department of Education. For additional information about these special education programs, please contact the schools directly, at the addresses and telephone numbers provided.

Extractions: Well, I am 35 yrs old and have 5 children and one granddaughter, my 11 year old son, Willie, has spastic diplegic cerebral palsy, epilepsy, severe asthma, and is visually impaired. Willie has cp due to what is technically called partial agenesis of the corpus colosum very fancy and ugly words that simply mean that the connecting tissues for the two halves of Willie's brain never fully developed. No one knows why this happened, or how this happened infact very little is known about this condition. It is very rare occuring about once in every 20,000 births. I volunteer online as a free disability rights advocate and work privately in life as a paid advocate. Most of the cases I fight online are adult cases and most of the cases I handle in life are children's issues.

Extractions: According to her four out of every 40 children in a school suffer from some kind of disability but the Indian psyche denies these disorders. "The parents do not want to accept that their children have a problem. They try to hide it from family and friends. They want their children to study like other children because in India we put studies above every thing else," she said. The training at the school will help train teachers to counsel parents into accepting that their children have special needs. "Being a special educator is a calling that you attend to and not a job. You have got to learn to be patient," she said. These children should be made productive, according to her. "Why should they be like parasites? Why do they need to worry their parents all the time? They can be trained to do work like baking, catering and data entry," she said. Vasudha's school will train teachers on hands-on activities that these children can work on. The school will be open for admissions in December at the MGR Janaki College of Engineering at Adyar. Classes will be conducted from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Currently, Dr. Natarajan is working on establishing a Teacher Training Institute to meet the needs of the special education students in Tamil Nadu. The Institute will also offer services like assessments, remedial measures, identifying appropriate educational material to be used and conducting regular workshops for parents, teachers and other caregivers.
