North Carolina teacher applicants may receive this benefit for courses relevant to teacher certification or to professional development as a teacher and must be approved by the principal of the teacher/applicants school. To qualify, an applicant must be a teacher or other person paid on the North Carolina teacher salary schedule incident to full-time employment by a North Carolina public school. Full-time employment means the employees duties qualify him/her for membership in the Teachers and State Employees Retirement System or would so qualify the employee if he/she were employed on a permanent basis. Applicants must qualify academically for admission to any school of UNC-CH.
