Shipper is quicker than Amazon
I ordered this book on the 11 th of September and received it on the 14th.When I went to the Amazon to check on the status of the rest of the order, Amazon hadn't even shipped yet.Amazon is getting worse as time goes by.The sellers that sell on amazon are making Amazon look like armatures.This seller is Coleman Biblio.The book is what I expected as far as content and is in better condition than advertised.

Absolutely Inspirational
I came across this book by accident, and what a happy accident! I read it like a novel that I couldn't put down. If you are interested in the subject of native art, Alaska, or are just fascinated with cultural histories ingeneral, you will enjoy this book. It is informative, educational, andfeeds the passion for the simple beauty that exists in certain parts of theworld like the Alaskan territories. In addition it has inspired andinformed me to better plan my future trips to the area. Ray is real, andthe book is beautiful with many pictures and descriptions of interestingfacts and places. If you are planning a trip to Alaska, this is a book tohave. Also described in her book is how to tell the difference between realand fraudulent art. Art and Peyote Anthropology
Shamanistic art the world over is punctate (which I think is related to the awareness of the fabric of retinal cell color sensation); thus, the embroidered linen art of the Huichol natives of western Mexico is not suprising, if not unusual. This book is a fascinating account of the mythology, peyote lore, way of life, and art and craft of these Indians. It focuses on the shaman-artist José Benítez Sánchez. Peter T. Furst, the anthropologist and author, provides over 50 colored photographs and full explanations. We learn much about the peyote cactus as sacred sacrament and source of visionary art. Examining the complex, dense, symbolic, and colorful art may suggest similar patterns seen on Tibetan thankas (particularly mandalas), Australian Aboriginal art, and also Fillmore and Avalon Ballroom posters of the LSD-influenced 1960s. The book may be short, merely 106 pages, but it is eye-opening and leaves the reader with much to ponder. ... Read more

At the time of its publication in 1908, Pomo Indian Basketry was the most complete and detailed study of a single Native American basketry tradition. The work, prepared as Samuel Barrett's doctoral dissertation, earned the author the first Ph.D. in anthropology at UC Berkeley.Among its contents are sections devoted to materials, techniques, forms, and designs.
