Requested: Contact: Collin Hales Email: collin.hales@sevier.k12.ut.us Project Title: Invitation to Tomorrow's Techies: How do all thesegadgets work? Abstract: Students live in an age dominated by electronics, from pagers to desktop information systems. I want to teach an introduction to the basic physical science principals behind the electronic age, including electronics and basic computer programing. I want eighth grade students to recognize the major innovations and advances in technology that have taken place in the last thirty years. The new lessons will tie into and extend the 8th grade integrated science curriculum of innovation and technology. The average fourteen year-old's lifestyle is dependent on devices that have moved beyond modern conveniences to life necessities. A teenager today can hardly picture a time when technology was not commonplace. Most teens are becoming masterfully able to use electronic devices for communication, entertainment, and education. However, few students have an opportunity to learn

Extractions: Ki is a Japanese word which is written with a Chinese character so there is a Chinese meaning and a Japanese meaning of the word Ki which are very different which creates much confusion.Offcourse for the Chinese meaning -I suppose that the Chinese pronounce it as Qi or something like that-you better ask the Chinese people, but since I am Japanese I prefer to use the word Ki in the Japanese way. So in the Japanese meaning ki is something which is unclear, something that cannot be defined. In daily life it means something like feeling , sentiment or emotions or ideas which are not yet clear but will become clear later. Or some motivation, etc, etc. That is why to understand Ki is very important in the sense that it is a proces of understanding one´s own life and understanding ourselves.

Description: This manual is a collection of energy education activities that are written and organized to be used either as a unit on energy or as individual activities to complement existing curricula. The focus is on conservation and renewables because these important aspects of energy education have not received as much curricular attention as the more "traditional" sources of energy. SUBJECTS: Virtually every discipline is addressed in these activities. Studying energy lends itself well to both problem-solving and critical thinking. Because energy is something that permeates every aspect of life, it can be wonderful motivator for getting students engaged in their projects in all the traditional disciplines.
