Extractions: More Kinder Crafts In this project, the Presidents of the US are represented by leaves on a tree. This project is good for a group of children (it is too big a project for one child). Supplies needed On a large piece of light brown (or other neutral color) paper (about 2 1/2 feet by 1 1/2 ft long), draw the branches of a tree. Each of the four branches should be at least one foot long. Cut out 43 leaves using green construction paper. Make each leaf about 2 inches long and about one inch wide. On each leaf, write the name of a President and his term in office. For a page that lists all the US Presidents, click here Glue the leaves to the tree, with the leaves in chronological order. If you like, cut out some fruit and label them with the dates of important events in US history, like the Louisiana purchase (1803), the end of the Mexican War (1848), the end of the Civil War and the end of slavery (1865), the purchase of Alaska (1867), the first National Park (Yellowstone, 1872), the end of World War I (1918), Mt. Rushmore finished (1941), the end of World War II (1945), Hawaii's admission as the 50th state (1959), the first man on the moon (1969), etc. Glue the fruit onto the tree according to the date.
