A great book for those kids who want a little more than most
I bought this book for my four year old daughter, and neither of us were disappointed.In addition to some really top notch illustrations, the book presents information about sharks and their prehistoric ancestors in aneasy to follow, logical progression.Difficult words and names arehighlighted, and provide a chance for parents to help their children withtheir reading and phonics skills.All of the information provided in thebook is superb;it is up to date,and coincides with the latest scientificdata available about these amazingly diverse creatures, covering from thefirst primative sharks to the more bizarre species such as Hybodus and ofcourse, the mighty Megalodon.I highly recommend this book for the buddingyoung scientist, and for parents that want to expose their children to morethan Pokemon, Barney, or other typical children's fare. ... Six great creatures
Another Dover Little Book. This one has six big tattoos depicting prehistoric critters. There's a great thaumatosaurus, which is a type of plesiosaur, and a flying dimorphodon. There's also a snarling thylacosmilus (saber-toothed cat), a wonderfully detailed wooly mammoth, a weird-looking elginia, and a rhino-like elasmotherium. I got one for my cousin (age six) and she spent half an hour telling me everything she knew about the animals, and then another two hours looking them up. Recommended! ... Read more
