I saw this book online, and thought, who are they writing for.I then read it and felt entirely left out. The authors barely suggest that gay men exist on this planet and many of them have prostate cancer.Thank goodness for other books and [...]for helping out of a pickle. At best, this book uses the word love, but does not seem to include me.

I was asked to read this book by the Prostate Cancer Charity in UK and on first sight my heart sank.Full of dry medical information - how wrong I was! My husband had a radical prostatectomy in 1997 and has recoveredwell but I still found encouraging material - especially about managingimpotence. The book covers all aspects of prostate cancer - fromdiagnosis to living with the results of treatment. It deals with themedical terms and emotional effects of each stage in a down to earthmanner.I also really valued the fact that it was written to me - thewoman. It made me feel understood in a way that much of literature doesn'tas it all male orientated.Enjoy reading it as you approach stage bystage and keep dipping into for knowledgeable reassurrance. My oneregret was that all the helpful contact numbers and addresses were allAmerican. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Read If Treatment Option is Radiation
This is the fourth book I've read on prostate cancer and easily the most upbeat and practical for a prostate cancer victim who has the option of choosing radiation treatment, specifically 3D Conformal Radiation. Dr. Priest is an excellent writer who takes you through the day to day process of getting 3D conformal radiation treatment, which is a two month process. What he describes is the reality of going to the hospital every single day for two months and dealing with the minor episodes that occur. Although the process is not without its problems, they are far less than a typical surgery patient goes through. As Dr. Priest explains, doctors know better than anybody all of the problems that can occur with any major surgery - and prostate cancer surgery is major with the potential for some serious side affects. Radiation therapy is not a walk in the park but it is far less threatening than surgery. The day to day diary approach Dr. Priest takes makes for some very easy reading. The processes that he describes, including the drinking to of water before each and every treatment are exactly what I was told my my radiation oncologist. I haven't started my treatments yet, but this book did a lot to ease my fears. Intertwined in the diary are sidebars covering some of the prostate cancer technical issues which seem to be up-to-date. If you are considering radiation treatment using 3d conformal radiation, this book is a must read.

5-0 out of 5 stars How to deal with a serious disease
This excellent book is a personal story about prostate cancer contracted by the author and how he dealt with it.He also very nicely summarizes his extensive research on the disease and how to treat it.However, it is much more than a book aboout prostate cancer. It is a template for how to deal with any serious disease.Dr. Priest gives us a picture of the emotional turmoil surrounding being diagnosed with cancer, how some of the shortcomings of the medical establishment add to the turmoil, and how to navigate through the maze with the help of family and friends.Although the subject is cancer, the author has writtten a positive and encouraging account of how to deal with it.I highly recommend the book.

I was very surprised at how well written the book was..........I bought it for a friend who had cancer, but I couldn't put the book down once I started reading----wow........anyone with prostate cancer must read this book!!!!!!! Mark O. Haroldsen

5-0 out of 5 stars Beating Prostate Cancer without Surgery
This is not just another medical book of complicated facts and terminologies.

Instead, this is a clearly written book of personal experiences which the author, Dr Priest, leads the reader with great care so as to clarify the process ofdealing with prostate cancer. Dr Priest explains typical human feelings that are common during a period of fear, uncertainty and indecision. This is a journal which follows his own ordeal through his medical care comparing all modern day procedures which are now available to deal with prostate cancer.

The book is easy to read and certainly captured "this" readers' attention from page one till the very last. It opened my eyes to information that I previously found confusing.

I read it once and I will no doubt read it again and again. This is a great reference book that every man and woman should read and keep.

Thank you, Dr. Priest, for such up to date and concise information and putting it all together in a clear and readable form.

5-0 out of 5 stars Recommended reading for anyone having to deal with the onset of prostate cancer
Beating Prostate Cancer Without Surgery: Proven Options From A Doctor And Cancer Survivor by retired physician James D. Priest is drawn from a personal journal that he began when he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Dr. Priest learned that although urologists typically recommend surgical removal of the prostate in such cases, there are other and alternate treatments that can be as effective as surgery but with less risk of such life-changing complications as impotence and incontinence. In addition to Dr. Priest's own compelling journal entries, Beating Prostate Cancer Without Surgery features twenty brief articles on important aspects of prostate cancer, as well as a foreword by Archbishop Dessmond Tutu, who is himself a prostate cancer survivor. Beating Prostate Cancer Without Surgery is especially recommended reading for anyone having to deal with the onset of prostate cancer.

Seriously overpriced book that has little new to offer. It is a good book to the extent that it discusses options other than surgery but the author doesn't really offer much guidance among the various options.

5-0 out of 5 stars Revici, Gerson, & Budwig Were Brilliant
Revici is a must read for those who are searching for relief from any degenerative disease. Revici certainly garnered a lot of praise from from his peers.I know of no other doctor that was held in such high esteem.Yet the AMA/Pharma money mongers certainly tried everything to totally discredit him. Same for Gerson and Budwig.I've been curing myself of Advanced Prostate cancer for over a year, following Gerson and Budwig. Certainly Revici's method(s) would do so also, perhaps better, because they apparently rooted out the source and worked rather fast.My Doctor's are incredulous and tell me to keep doing whatever it is I'm doing.Seems they tell all people to do the same, who are curing themselves. Wonder if they teach them to say that in Med School? The book is well written and does not bash allopathic medicine. It is understandable by all, even though some of the tech talk may escape a few readers (including me). After reading this book, one will definitely have a much fuller view of medicine and their body.Perhaps more so than their doctor. There is no doubt that Revici's understandings and discoveries will have to be used in the future if humankind is to remain alive.
If I come to the point where I need additional help, I will certainly go to the Revici Clinic[...]

5-0 out of 5 stars Wake Up People
You would think that in the twenty-first century people would know better than to blindly trust the medical establishment that is making billions from keeping people sick. And yet, so many have bought into the paternal attitude of the AMA and the FDA. We no longer live in the Dark Ages when people like Galileo were persecuted for making scientific discoveries. It's time to wake up and start exploring and you will find the truth. This book is a good place to start.

The Doctor Who Cures Cancer is the well-written story of a brilliant and compassionate doctor who was able to cure cancer fifty years ago. His methods and the science behind them are thoroughly explored in the book. Then why are we still waging a war on cancer today--and losing? Simple. Follow the money. The medical establishment is making too much by torturing and mutilating cancer patients with chemo, radiation, and surgery. Think the FDA will protect you? No. They're the ones jailing and condemning people like Dr. Revici who cure cancer.

Get this book if you want to learn about how one doctor fought the system and cured people. But let it be just the beginning of opening your mind and raising your awareness about cancer and modern medicine. Read. Research. Question everything your doctor says--it's your body and you have a right to whatever treatment you choose for yourself.

4-0 out of 5 stars Biography of a medical pioneer
Well-written and thorough, this biography of Emanuel Rivici, who discovered remedies for cancer, addiction, AIDS, and other conditions, brings to light the difficulties and politics of medical research.Eidem's "where do we go from here?" (part 5) is a call to action as well as a clearly defined and timely reminder that organized medicine needs a wake-up call to successfully deal with disease...the other 4 parts of this book (Revici's life, discoveries, patients, and foes) focus more on Revici as a person (along with his travails and challenges) than on solutions to any current ailment a patient might have; however, many practical resources are given throughout this volume, including the name and address of the Revici Life-Science Center in Manhattan, as well as details about acidity-alkalinity and lipids research. The two appendices (chronology and illustrations) are extremely helpful in understanding Revici's theories. This is a must-read for a person who is undergoing Revici therapy and should be required reading for oncologists and immunologists everywhere.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Doctor Who Cures Cancer
This book is ground breaking and gives a clear understanding of the problem ie:the disease with solutions to get you on the road to recovery. Thank you Kelly for bringing truth to the world.

5-0 out of 5 stars fantastic information - a must for everyone!!!!
This book is wonderful, it surely opens the eyes to the wicked ways of the Medical system and FDA. If you know of anyone w/ cancer at any stage this book is for you. It offers hope like no other w/o going the traditional way and its horrible side effects. Like they say "if the disease doesn't kill you the treatment will". C ... Read more

Product Description
In Sickness and in Health: Surviving Prostate Cancer Together is the most detailed and multifaceted account of the impact of prostate cancer and subsequent treatment yet written by a spouse. Due to the sexual nature of prostate cancer, it may affect relationships and intimacy more than many other cancers. Gervais writes written from a woman's point of view to support spouses as part of the healing team, knowing that partners can feel isolated because of needs to talk with someone about fears and yet to be positive for the man involved. Few books address, from first-hand experience, four treatment options: surgery, radiation, hormone therapy, and alternative therapies. In Sickness and in Health: Surviving Prostate Cancer Together was written to give couples information about the effects these therapies have on quality of life, sexuality, intimate relationships, and survival.Gervais details the first 5 years following a diagnosis of prostate cancer in her otherwise healthy husband. She provides support to take positive steps regardless of the prognosis. Nothing is spared, from the initial shock, through the search for the best treatment options, to the agonizing wait for results after surgery, and finally through somewhat experimental treatment of combined hormone therapy and radiation. Many people tend to treat prostate cancer from just one perspective, but the author thinks affected couples need to be encouraged to do everything possible to effect a cure. The importance of the couple's use of alternative therapy involving diet, supplements, exercise, and visualization is clearly detailedThe description of the slow return to full potency against harsh odds gives hope to other couples facing the same situation while the author shares her view on the importance of activism regarding sexual function. Gervais frankly discusses sexuality and prostate cancer from a personal perspective. What is a hospital stay like? What are the risks and side effects of surgery? What is ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Review of Surviving Prostate Cancer
Review by Dr. Tom Cook of "In Sickness and in Health" by Mary C. Gervais

This is a book which many cancer patients and their families should read. Its focus is prostate cancer but the concepts can be applied to most other cancers. It is especially a book for husbands and wives to read together, as a kind of spiritual journey to accompany the process of treatment and recovery.

Although the author's personal story as the spouse of a cancer patient begins with diagnosis, treatment actually comprises about half of the 23 chapters, and recovery comprises the final fourth. Those who have already entered the treatment phase may wish to skip ahead to the middle chapters. But no one should omit the concluding chapters because they provide the ongoing hope and faith to persevere.

Although not specifically religious in a sectarian sense, this is first and foremost a book of faith. Yet it also contains specific references to items not always included in books of faith, such as very candid discussions of the sexual side effects of treatment. The very thorough table of contents makes it very clear which chapters these are for those who may prefer to skip them. For those who do wish to read them, however, they may wish to turn to page 385 first for a better idea of what to expect.

In the last chapter there are many references to useful resources including about 20 books and websites and an even larger number of organizations, support groups, hotlines, phone numbers, addresses, etc. This is another part of the book that some readers may wish to turn to before reading the other 22 chapters.

All in all this is a very thorough, technical, intellectual, yet personal and spiritual account of the cancer treatment and recovery process, from a family oriented viewpoint. Even the family dogs sometimes enter the story, as supportive companions and exercise partners. Please put it at the top of your reading list if you are facing the ordeal of cancer.

5-0 out of 5 stars A very frank, clear and thorough consultation
I give Prostate Cancer my highest recommendation and only hope there will a revision soon. The author is a medical oncologist deeply involved both in patient care and in research. He has written a very helpful guide in which he promises a compassionate consultation similar to what he gives his patients but with much more detail.Dr. Kantoff believes that guidance during this very confusing and frightful period in the lives of prostate cancer patients is vital. The writing is clear with very detailed explanations of each area. For example, his presentation of the anatomy of the prostate and supporting diagrams are outstanding. Also, a very helpful section on PSA is presented. He discusses the importance of the PSA test even though there are many uncertainties because of various factors that affect it. His presentation of the natural history of prostate and how this affects everything else - detection, diagnosis, staging, treatment and possible outcome - is excellent. Understanding the variability of prostate cancer is crucial in coming to terms with the disease and making a decision for treatment. His use of case histories is a wonderful way to see the applications of the information in real life situations. The last chapter,"Where to Turn for Help" focuses on the psychosocial support. It is a very sensitive presentation including some very helpful guidance both for patients and their wives.Dr. Kantoff lists some practical steps to help you through this difficult period.

Prostate Cancer: A Family Consultation is probably the clearest and most thorough book I have read during the period between my diagnosis of prostate cancer and the treatment I chose.I think I would choose to do some basic reading of pamphlets and booklets first. Then I would read this book and return to it as a primary reference. However, if it is fairly easy for you to read and understand medical writings, it would be an excellent place to start and will probably serve as your basic "guide book".You will feel that you have had a very frank, clear and thorough consultation.PROSTATE CANCER CL ... 5-0 out of 5 stars something is wrong somewhere
I have just read 'The Best Options for Diagnosing and Treating Prostate Cancer' published by Health Education Literary Publisher, on which I could not find any information, but their ISBN suggests that they are a very tinypublisher - maybe self published?).

It is an extraordinary biased bookgiving the 'best' methods for possibly preventing, monitoring, staging, conducting a biopsy, treatment etc. It assumes the reader has already readand is aware of the basics of prostate cancer and, therefore, does notcover the material that is provided by most other books - it is the nextstage on (which is good). The author (James Lewis - a non-doctor survivor)really puts himself on the line and open to challenge. Nevertheless it'sthe most helpful book I have read to date. It doesn't give wide ranges ofpercentages - it's specific, it doesn't pussyfoot about. For me, it isgreat book as it unashamedly gives his 'gold standard' for any treatment. It also has the most comprehensive bibliography (30 pages and about 250references) so it appears to be exceptionally well researched.

It ishighly evangelistic in its selling of Dr. Frank Ritz' prostRcisiontreatment at the Radiotherapy Clinics of Georgia, claiming that cancer freesurvival rates are at least equal to and probably much better than surgery, even that performed by Dr. Walsh's Johns Hopkins team - and with the addedbenefits of significantly less chance of erectile dysfunction and otherside effects.

If what he says is anywhere near the truth there doesn'tseem to be any other choice but to have prostRcision.

I find itdisturbing that other books only seem to mention prostRcision as an aside. The books published by the American Cancer Society and the Mayo Clinicdon't even make a single reference to prostRcision. So something is wrongsomewhere!

Have you read it? If not, at this stage of my limitedknowledge, I would highly recommend it. ... Read more

Product Description

In his latest book, Frank Murray, the reliably informative author of numerous books on health and nutrition, delves into the prostate and its potential for problems. Although prostate cancer is the most common cancer in the United States, there is an admitted lack of clinical data available on the topic. Despite this slight drawback, however, Murray has managed to unearth valuable research material on every conceivable aspect of the prostate. This venerable author has once again accomplished what he does so well, which is to meticulously research and string together clinical studies that give scientific underpinning to he methods and treatments he espouses and put them into relevant categories in a cogent, easily accessible narrative for the reader.

How to Prevent Prostate Problems defines exactly what the prostate is and how it is vulnerable to such diseases as benign prostatic hyperplasia, cancer, and prostatitis, and then talks about how to prevent, or, if thatÂ’s not an option, correctly diagnose and discuss what treatments there are. As there are no magic bullets, this can be tricky, so both you and your doctor need to thoroughly understand the choices for treating these maladies. To illustrate some of the methods available, Murray has included case histories of men whose various prostate conditions have been successfully treated in different ways.

Vitamins, minerals, herbs, and other supplements to help counter prostate irregularities are each given a comprehensive section, as are environmental hazards. The specter of vasectomies possibly causing prostate cancer is also discussed, and a number of trials show no obvious correlation between the two, but, to date, there are no definitive results. The back of the book contains an excellent Glossary of terms used in the book, a list of helpful Resources, a chapter-by-chapter listing of the references cited, and an Index.

More that a resource, How to Prevent Prostate Problems comes close to being a source for anyone wanting to learn about the subject for themselves or their loved ones.

There is considerable evidence to suggest thatprogression of prostate cancers to castration- resistant is due to inappropriate activation of theandrogen receptor (AR) and hence, the AR is a goodtarget for the treatment of this disease. In thisstudy we used two approaches to investigate ARactivation and inhibition. We developed high-throughput, non-invasive, cell- based screening assays to rapidly and biologicallyassess factors that modulate prostate cancer growthand affect AR activity. Using these assays, we foundthat differentiated osteoblast-like condition mediaenhanced prostate cancer cell growth, but not ARactivity. In addition, we applied this system toscreen compounds, selected through in silicoapproaches against a crucial pocket on the ARprotein. The application of our in silico tools andour cell based screening assay resulted inidentification of 17 compounds out of 4 millionsthat can inhibit AR activity. Importantly, some ofthese compounds are more potent than bicalutamide, which is one of the most potent antiandrogen drugscurrently used to treat patients with metastaticprostate cancer. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars No stars! PC-SPES killed people
(The rating system does not allow zero stars.)

PC-SPES was not "natural." It worked because it contained DES, a synthetic estrogen, which enlarged men's breasts, shrank their penises, and caused blood clots. To combat the blood clots, it contained warfarin, a synthetic blood thinner widely used as a rat poison. This caused men to bleed to death.

2-0 out of 5 stars PC SPES Treatment Hits A Snag.
James Lewis possesses an abundance of knowledge about prostate cancer and the bewildering array of treatments used to fight this disease. Evidence of the author's wisdom is found throughout THE HERBAL REMEDY FOR PROSTATE CANCER.

Unfortunately treatment using PC SPES has recently hit a huge snag. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned consumers to cease taking PC SPES because it contained undeclared prescription drug ingredients. As a result of this action by the FDA, the manufacturer of the product has gone out of business. PC SPES had been used with promising results by many prostate cancer patients who have since been left scrambling for alternative treatments. Many have tried other herbal or natural remedies while some others have turned to the more traditional medical option of hormones.

5-0 out of 5 stars Prostate Cancer Hope
The herbal remedy in the title refers to PC SPES which is a dietary supplement prepared from extracts of seven Chinese herbs and one concentrated American herb. Each herb is processed separately and then combined to yield a highly synergistic formula.

James Lewis is a prostate cancer survivor and a prolific author of books and other published materials on prostate cancer. His latest book represents an extremely thorough review of a fairly new treatment. The chapter on a prevention program for prostate cancer is outstanding. I highly recommend the book for anyone wishing to learn more about the prevention and treatment of the second leading cancer in men. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Indispensable information!
A book about the prostate is worth zilch unless it minces no words. The author of this one is totally honest. That is what makes this one indispensable if you, like me and other millions, have prostate concerns. My problem is not (yet) serious or urgent but I find the book highly revealing and very helpful. And I now know if that is the case at this time, then if and when my Gleason Scale number goes up (see the book!) and I face surgery, the book will be a necessity to keep at my side. It sure does not read like a novel but it is Information with a capital I. The three key words in describing what Newt Malerman has written, are candid, informative, and helpful. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Prostate Cancer Radiation Treatment
I found this book to be very helpful in examining the pros/cons of various radiation treatments for prostate cancer, as opposed to surgery. While the book is decidedly biased for radiation treatment, I found that the statistical data was rather weak in supporting the argument, especially for longer term results beyond 12 years after treatment. However, this may be a result of the lack of data for the medical field as a whole since I also have not found very much information in this regard for surgery as well. The book has both the doctor's viewpoint, a patient viewpoint, and that of a treatment nurse, who specializes in after-treatment care, including diet. The diet/nutrition/supplement section was very useful. Last, the copyright is 2005, and many advances have been made since then that are, naturally, not in the book. For example, the book describes radiation beam treatment as requiring a body mold to be made of the patient so that when the patient returns every day for the 2 months of radiation treatment, the radiation beams can be aimed at the prostate in the exact same manner/position day after day. Now this technique is outdated. UCLA medical center implants gold seeds in the prostate and simply uses computer software adjustments every day for treatment, to register accurately the prostate location. Therefore, the book gives a good foundation of techniques, but there is no substitute to seeking advice from medical professionals. If you are considering treatment, read this book first, and also read Dr. Peter Scardino's book on Prostate Cancer, then seek out opinions from respected doctors in both surgery (Urologists) and radiation (Radiaton Oncologists).

3-0 out of 5 stars Depending Upon Your Diagnosis, Keep an Open Mind
Although technically well done, radiation therapy may not be the answer or at least the whole answer to prostate cancer treatment and survival. You will need to consult a number of current references on the broad subject of prostate cancer, as well as critically surf the Internet.Keep in mind that advances in treatment continue to offer hope.

A thorough and accurate diagnosis is essential to your understanding of what the best course of treatment may be given your age, PSA, Gleason Score, tumor type and stage (metastasis), etc.It is also essential that you discuss your options with your urologist, oncologist, radiologist and surgeon, each of whom may have different recommendations or options depending upon your choice of how you want to live and survive.

I have advanced prostate cancer [initially a PSA of 19.8, Gleason of 9, and (at least) local lymph node metastasis].My cancer is presently undetectable (i.e., not hormone therapy refractive), and I just celebrated my 5th anniversary post-surgery.My choices, based on the severity of my cancer, included all recommended treatments available to me at the time, namely radical prostatectomy, external beam radiation and hormone ablation therapy.Recent studies have validated those three aggressive treatment regimens for advanced prostate cancer survival.

The side effects of those treatments were very troublesome for the first two years post-surgery.With additional medication for the menopausal-like symptoms (nausea, hot flashes, etc.) and bone calcium depletion effects (osteoporosis), I've been able to adjust to some of them. So, as you may see, the answers may be very different for each of us.Best wishes.

1-0 out of 5 stars a truly biased view
Dr. Dattoli touts brachytherapy above all else, even though studies have shown that surgery offers surer long-term results, important especially for younger men who don't want their cancer to recur down the road.Seed implants can leave areas of the gland undertreated. Also, the idea that radiation causes fewer side effects is bogus. In fact, in addition to urinary and erectile problems, men getting radiation in any form run the risk of bowel problems.

2-0 out of 5 stars Comments on Surviving Prostate Cancer without surgery
The book suffers from a rhetorical bias against surgery -- a bias that leads to little good being said about surgery.A study reported in the Journal of the American Medical Association concluded that if you see a surgeon about treatment options he/she will likely represent surgery; if you initially see a radiologist, the recommendation is likely to be radiation.

As other reviewers have pointed out, a man facing treatment options must determine if surgery that is right for him.IMRT/seeds is a great approach but many patients aren't eligible due to the progression of the cancer.Similarly, expansion of the cancer beyond the prostate gland may mean that surgery is not feasible. But surgery is, in my experience, one of the best options for a T2a or T2b diagnosis.Obviously much depends on the skill of the surgeon but if the surgeon manages to excise all the cancerous tissue, you will be in great shape re recurrence of cancer. The same cannot be said about hormone therapy.

I would make two points about surgery versus other options (all the while emphasizing that the best option depends on the state of your cancer).First, I found that men facing the treatment decision often recoil in horror at the idea of being cut open, nerve bundles being severed and a Foley catheter in their penis for two or three weeks.A tough call. But remind yourself that once the surgery is over and the catheter is out, you are done.Hopefully the surgeon will save enough nerve bundles that you will be able to function sexually, with a little help from the blue pill.I had the surgery and have not taken one bit of medication or treatment since.Luckily for me, the surgeon got it all and my PSA remains zero. You will also have the psychological relief of knowing that the cancerous object is gone from your body. (I was influenced by a certain famous football coach who said, 'as soon as I got the diagnosis I wanted this thing out of me')

Second, surgical techniques are getting better.Robots, cryogenic techniques and other technology are starting to move into the mainstream. Many surgeons have done hundreds of these operations.Success stories are increasing. The same cannot be said of radiation -- it still is likely to devastate surrounding tissue.Hormone therapy can be useful but the patient really needs to talk at length with his doctor about how long the course of treatment will take and the side effects, which can be terrible.

A final bonus re surgery. If it does not succeed, ADT therapy remains an option.

To all prostate patients:evaluate every option carefully and develop a good sense of the prospects for success of each option.Hang in there. ... Read more

Your author decided to write this book about Prostate Cancer when one of his best friends suffered from this disease. He took extensive chemotherapy which extended his life, but made living difficult. His body was saying make me live longer, but his mind was saying I should die, living is too painful to continue. His mind finally won-out and he died. This book used Internet to learn about the symptoms of Prostate Cancer and the latest therapies used to extend the life span of people suffering from this cancer. One promising technology is the use of Nanocells which are injected in the patient's blood stream. These nanocells seek out the cancer cells and destroy them, thus curing the patient.I learned studying Nanotechnology research for another book that people investigating the applications of Nanocells had injected such synthesized cells into mice and the cells had sought out the cancer cells and destroyed them, thus curing the mice.If Bioscience researchers can do the same thing for humans, then there is hope for eradicating Prostate Cancer. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book!
I was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer. I found the book totally informative and I am going to try using the herbs first as I am not looking forward to the post op. side effects that I now realize are very real. I read the other reviews and I would like to add that "river runner" obviously never read the book before returning it. I would recommend this book to anyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars son of prostate cancer survivor
I bought this book for my father who was just diagnosed with prostate cancer. He does not have advanced prostate cancer as this would not work for that. He has a gleason score of 5, his original PSA was 10.2, after 6 months of taking the herbs it is now down to 4.0. He is getting his PSA checked by his doctor every 3 months. He is very happy about the results and we both recommend this book to anyone with prostate cancer.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not worth 13 bucks
I bought this for my dad who has advanced prostate cancer, and immeadiately returned it.At a slim 36 pages, it's hard to justify the cost anyway. He first outlines basic prostate information found anywhere. Then he writes about the power of the herbal formula, PC SPES, which is no longer manufactered in the US (the companty is out of business).

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
He really hits the nail on the head with this book. I was recently diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and I was glad to see what I was in for. I have decided to give the herbs a shot to see if they will lower my PSA. If it doesn't work I have plenty of time to sign up for the surgery.

3-0 out of 5 stars Alternatives You Don't Usually Hear About
I believe the author has shown alternatives not usually brought up by Doctors, definetly not be surgeons. He chose not to go through the standard procedures, for valid reasons, unless he had to if his chosen methods didn't work. And you know what?He would not have been any worse off if he had to after he explored the options layed-out in his book.I believe that the medical establishment should bring these alternatives to light before putting a person through Chemo or surgery and that unfortunatly, money has a lot to do with that. After all.. this is big business.A MUST READ for any man diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. ...
