This is the best reference book available right now, but 10 years is a long time for technology.Buy the book.Read the book.Get on the web and go to the Remote Imaging Group in the UK and learn the rest.

5-0 out of 5 stars Teaches you what you need to know and more!
This great book, writen by Dr. Taggart, is probably the single greatest source of information about weather sats, both low orbiting and geostationary. Construction articles allow even a novice to build antennasfor the low orbiting birds. Many photos show how your station needs to beset up as well as pictures from the sats themselves. In the back of thebook is several pages of advertisements related to the subject matter. Thisa great reading book and one you must have for your collection. ... Read more

Product Description
Ham radio has come a long way since the days when amateurs used tube-type transmitters and receivers or pounded out Morse code on a telegraph key. Today, a modern ham shack will be equipped with at least one microcomputer and will take full advantage of state-of-the art digital communications technology. A powerful combination of conventional radio communications and fast, efficient microcomputer control, digital communications is the fastest growing area in amateur radio. Here, Jonathan Mayo provides a complete overview of digital communications for hams: its history, capabilities, and applications, as well as the protocols and procedures governing the various modes of operation. He also explains how to set up an operational digital communications station and what equipment and accessories are needed to furnish it. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Out of Date
Book is not current for the major revisions to FCC regulations that affect amateur radio.

Good historical reference, but unusable for passing current Technician exam.

5-0 out of 5 stars The BEST study guide for your technician license.
Hands down winner for no nonsense preparation leading towards your entry into amateur radio! The principles presented are plain and to the point. No reading between the lines, and no guessing as to what the author is getting at.The questions presented after each chapter reinforce the material just covered (and are the actual test questions from the current pool).I read the book in a little over a week, and by week two passed my technician test!

5-0 out of 5 stars Ride the Airwaves
Excellent book. Our family is studying to pass the technical license exam and have found the clear diagrams, explanations, and material organization in this book to be far superior to that of the class-issued book (which primarily focuses on the exam questions and then explains the answers).

I wish we had something comparable for the general class license!

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the best book out there!!!!
I have to say that this is the best book out there! I am thirteen years old and I got my tech plus in 3 weeks and now am operating 2 meters. I highly recommend this book for any one. This book kind of hides the high concentration level required for this exciting hobby by having fun. It is like little comic strips and then a small quiz after each lesson. It is the best buy I have made in a while other than my radio. Without this book I would not have my license so I wouldn't be eligible for a radio! I would like to thank my mom, dad, WD4ITU, KB6MT, and the author of this book K6YB. P.S. If you live in TX I opperate on the repeater 146.96 alot.Young people get interested in Ham radio... its great! 73 and God Bless

5-0 out of 5 stars "ALFA & ZULU" Do The Trick!
Thanks to K6YB for writing the "ALFA & ZULU" book!It fit our needs EXACTLY!I gave it to my 11 year old son for Christmas, and he is now passing sample tech exams! We plan to go to a testing session as soon as possible. Now we're working on the code, and have ordered the "DIT & DAH" Phoneticode card and dice games advertised in the book. ...
