Don't be ridiculous, buy this book from the AAM Bookstore, where it sells for $45 to members and $65 to nonmembers.But actually, don't buy it at all, because the third edition will be out in March 2010.

pretty good registration guide
this book contains sections written by a number of experienced, top registrars at museums across the nation.they know their business, and although the methods will doubtless vary from museum to museum, it gives agood overview (although a few of the authors do go into painful detail) ofthe registration process.for the most part it's a great book on ahard-to-find subject. ... It is important to note that this book which is available through Amazon, is a hardcover edition.I just purchased what I thought would be a paperback edition through the Museum of Science and Industry, since it was less expensive, and was surprised to receive a hardcover edition. I don't know if there are any differences in editions. I've never found any book that costs more on Amazon before.However, the book is a beautiful tribute to the history of the fairy castle itself, Colleen Moore, and the beautiful design, architecture, and history of the pieces which make up this wonderfully enduring experience that I share with so many women who were first introduced to it as a child. Every architecture and design student should see it as well.The only disappointment is that there isn't a good photo of Cinderella's coach in the garden, and that is one of my strongest childhood memories of the castle.

The World's Ultimate Dollhouse
When I was 7 years old, my mother, grandmother and a cousin of mine went to Chicago, and one of the places we went was the Museum of Science and Industry.Before we went, my mother told me that as a young girl, she had seen the fairy castle when it toured the country before becoming a permanent exhibit at the museum. She told me how much she loved it, and I couldn't wait to see it. I was not disappointed. This IS the ultimate dollhouse. Every time I go to the museum, you can't get me to leave without seeing the fairy castle.I took my own daughter to see it, and now she loves it, too. The last time we went, I found this wonderful book at the gift shop, and was thrilled that now I could look at my beloved fairy castle whenever I wished. This book is a real treasure, with beautiful pictures of the castle. Anyone who loves dollhouses, and the fairy castle in particular, will love this book. It never fails to provoke happy memories for me.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the castle in Chicago, and can hardly find the words to say how magnificent it was! Still, in the time I had to view it, so many details were missed. That is why this book is so great. It not only displays the castle with better lighting, it gives you a chance to savor all the tiny details you might never have seen. Reveals the wonders of museums!

Why do we have to go to the museum anyway? That sounds like a boring field trip! You have probably said it yourself. A museum isn't as much fun as going to a water park, stadium or a state park. What lies within the museum's walls have a history all their own. Lee Bennett Hopkins has selected a wide range of poems about museums in this collection. "Behind the Museum Door" talks about things like a suit of armor, mummies, Native Americans, forms of art and a whole bunch more.

Stacey Dressen-Mc Queen has brought every poem to life with her bright colors and children smiling and enjoying each part of the museum. "Behind the Museum Door" would be a great addition to primary-grade classrooms to help introduce the children to a museum experience before going on a field trip. This book is written for younger kids than this reviewer but it's an enjoyable book for young children.

You never know what exciting things can lie within the museum walls. Reading the book "Behind the Museum Door" is almost as much fun as discovering what lies behind the museum's door.

A Cambrian Age majority.

Trilobites swim across a dark page surrounding the words that are set against a teal background. Multicultural children, although their facial expressions are not very distinctive from one another, reveal in posture their pleasure as they point excitedly to exhibits; some children hold hands or stand with their arms across the shoulders of their friends. These twelve poems encourage an appreciation for the wonders of museums. They can be read aloud, however; there often is a bit of clutter in the illustrations that requires closer examination.

Outstanding!
As a History of Technology student, I find this book everything I could hope for in a compellation. It examines a great deal of information, but each innovation gets its own pages. This allows the reader to pick it up read about the importance of an innovation and its impact on society and then put it down. This book skips the somewhat tedious (I am not saying unimportant!) development facts of the innovation and personal story of the inventor.
The book also has a great deal of color pictures. You may scoff (as some of my professors have) but pictures of mechanical devices can give a very clear picture of how it works.

a treasury of great specimens
The specimens shown in this book from the Houston Museum are truly the top of their class. This is a coffee-table book for the mineral collector, and only falls short of a visit to the museum itself.
