The only thing I learned is how conceited she is
Large print, pictures, small vocabulary, Even though it's written by a 14 year old, but still should be much better than this.This book has showed me what's the real Tara Lipinski behind the fame.

Here're some quotes directly from the book:

"The audience applauded as I finished my program.
I felt like applauding too! After my terrible short program the year before at the Worlds, I ended up taking first.
Michelle also skated well. But she stumbledd comping out of the triple lutz in her combination. She came in fourth.
Irina Slutskaya was sixth."
What's the point of telling how the Michelle messed up? and Irina?

"No, it seemed as if the crowd was reacting to Michelle's scores, which had just come up. I looked at them too. They weren't great, and I was a little confused. (Later I found out that Michelle had fallen three times during her program. She'd had a bad day.)"
Ok maybe you want to tell us how Michelle didn't skated well, maybe how she fell... but we don't need to know how many times she fell! And adding "She'd had a bad day." at the end? We know you just want to say she sucks.

Tara keeps telling who came in after her at the competitions she won. I've never been a big fan of Tara Lipinski, and after reading this book, I will never be.

TaraLipinski Triumph on Ice.
Tara Lipinski's autobiography is about her life and how she became a star. She was born on June 1o,1982. She became a champion when she started taking roller blading lessons. Then a friend came to talk to her mom, about trying ice skating. When Tara tried ice skating, she loved it. But then her dad got a new job in Texas, so they had to move. But her mom and Tara moved back to Delaware. Soon Tara got a new ice-skating coach, Richard Callaghan. Her mom and Tara had to move again to Michigan. In 1996 Nicole Bobek, an ice skater, drop out of the USA Figure Championships because of an injury. Tara won 3rd at the championship. Soon after Tara became the first skater to land the triple loop- triple loop combination. In 1997 at the age of 14, she became the youngest figure to win the World Championships.

Tara Lipinski taght me that if you do not give up on your dreams, they will come true.

I mostly enjoyed this book for the pictures only. I was kind ofdisappointed when I bought it because mostly, the writer parrots whatKatia wrote in My Sergei and said in the video documentary. Nothing new. The pictures are never seen before but if you want to know about Katia Gordeeva, buy My Sergei.

This book had many b&w photos of Gordeeva and Grinkov that I had not seen before.The book is very nice for older children/pre-teens: pretty easy reading, and has basic facts about Katia's life in a nice format.Everyone else: If you want to learn about Katia, buy My Sergei (definate 5stars)instead. ... Inspiring biography about an American role-model.
"Kristi Yamaguchi: Artist on Ice" by Shiobhan Donahue captivates the mind, as it depicts the wonderful career of one of figure skating's best; Kristi Yamaguchi.It is a wonderful book for high school students asit is well written and portrays Kristi "in a most illustriouslight."I personally have never read a more concise, and accurateportrayal of a sports figure, and Shiobhan does an excellent job at doingthis.

Hard to find book was found.
My daughter really wanted this book after hearing Jeff Savage speak at her school. I looked around but was unable to find it. Tried amazon and there is was. I got it very quickly with no hassels. Thanks.

I Got This Book As A Gift....
...and for the most part, although it's geared towards a younger audience, it's a great book to have if you are a big fan of Kristi Yamaguchi, mostly for the photos it includes.There are several photos of Kristi in Albertville, both on the podium and standing with her medal after the ceremony that I've not seen in any other book and that brought back great memories of watching it live all those years ago.One of the more interesting parts of this book is that it was written before Kristi decided to turn pro, and talks about her plans for Lillehammer in 1994 (how great would that have been if it had been true?). Some of the photos are incorrectly captioned, and the book doesn't really reveal any ground-breaking information about Kristi or her life that hasn't already been covered in other books, but I recommend it for the photos.If you are a BIG Kristi fan, regardless of your age, this book will fit nicely into your collection.Otherwise, for a better book on Kristi and skating in general, check out her "Figure Skating for Dummies". ... Michelle Kwan by Sam Wellman is a very interesting book.The thing that kept me interested in the book was that it tells almost everything that people need to know about Michelle and all the years she ice skated.The main characters are Michelle Kwan,her sister Karen,her father Danny,her mother Estella,and her skating coach,Frank Carroll.

I found the book filled with suprises.Michelle started skating when she was 5 years old.She had to work really hard to win the National figure skating title.I like the book because I found out lots of things that I had never known about Michelle Kwan.I would recommend this book to everyone who likes to skate.

AMust-Own for any Michelle Kwan Fan!
Being a huge Michelle fan, I picked this up while at another rink at a skating competition to add to my collection, and I was not disappointed.Although geared more towards the younger fans (9-12), it features black and white photos of Michelle I have not seen in any other book and is a good overview of this talented skater, although it lacks coverage of the 1997-98 season and beyond.
