Top running coaches Dave Scott-Thomas and Kevin Smith provide advice on marathon training. Age-group triathletes reveal their strategies to gain a mental advantage on race day. Female triathletes discuss their approach to the sport.

5-0 out of 5 stars Be inspired by the passionate and the professional
Really loved this book......as an avid runner/triathlete i am always looking for reads to compliment my training and my holidays. This book covers the passion and the professional which i really enjoyed as i could relate and be inspired all in the same book.Definately recommend it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Stories to get you out there
This book is a collection of articles that the author had published in Canadian and Austrlian sports magazine. It comprises of 12 interviews with a wide variety of triathles and runners, from the elite to the weekend warrior. The final article is about what it takes to run a marathon and has tips and strategies from 2 coaches.
The author skillfully allows the athletes their own voice and the interviews are informative, inspiring and well paced.
I very much enjoyed this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars great little read
This is a great little book- easy to read and nice short chapters which make it easy to pick up and put down.
Inspiring stories about everyday people who've caught the running bug and changed their lives for the better.
Would be a great present for the beginner runner.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Guide for Triathletes & Runners!
As a triathlete and a runner, I found this book very inspirational.I've read loads of books on training, diet, and technique but it's great to hear about the stories behind some of the most successful athletes in the sport. It's also very easy to read as each chapter has its own distinct story.Definitely will recommend to fellow triathlon teammates as a must read!

2-0 out of 5 stars boring
Hard to read this book. The stories are way too long and to much elaborating. I like to read stories about other athletes and I bought this book to read during my vacation, but did not finish it. ... Read more

Product Description
How does it work? Competitive Triathlon in 10Hours A Week is more than a book, it’s a process. As you read the book, you will be planning parts of your own season. By the time you are done (typically in 4-6 hours), you will have created your own plan for 10Hours success. Key elements of the 10Hours methodology include:

* Focusing only on your next A race, not the full season.
* Focusing on your Critical Success Factors, not just logging hours.
* Leveraging intensity into build strength and build endurance simultaneously.
* Executing Race Simulation workouts to put your fitness to the test and prepare for race day.
* Scheduling “big weekends” to add endurance-oriented training to your program when needed.

What will you learn? Truth be told, this book is not for the weak of heart. We will ask you to throw out some very popular approaches to training in place of new, data-driven results. Old-school methods of training, such as spending lots of time in Zone Two, avoiding Zone Three, having to swim 3+ times a week, needing to hit the gym consistently…these are all challenged/eliminated. You will learn:

* Focusing on your next race enables you to target your training; that…
* It’s not how much training you do, it’s how you do that training that matters; that…
* That striving for triathlon excellence doesn’t require you to become a social outcast; that…
* Multisport fitness is built on cumulative, well-executed training instead of just logging miles. ... Read more

Product Description
This is a comprehensive logbook and training manual for the triathlon athlete. It offers a foundation for establishing a proper training programme which conforms to current advances in exercise physiology, training and race preparation. It can be used as a year-round organizer and record-keeper. Included is an undated 55-week logbook, with over 20 per cent more room to write than in previous versions of the almanac. Advice is offered from world-class triathlon athletes such as Mark Allen, Lori Bowden and Thomas Hellriegel, and the almanac shows how to: prepare for a triathlon of any distance; plan training and the racing year; peak before a race; and prevent burn-out and injury. It provides an in-depth chapter on common types of injuries, how to avoid them, and what athletes should do if they become injured. Also offered is: a method for avoiding flat tyres and fixing them during a race; doing running intervals using a heart-rate monitor; and using periodization as top athletes do. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Logbook
This is an excellent logbook for Triathlon training.I don't understand some of the other reviews that slight it for a lack of training advice. It is a logbook! The fact that it has additional info is icing on the cake.If you want a training plan buy a different book or get a coach. In the meantime, I'm picking up my third copy...

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally - everything comes together for the perfect tool!
This in an absolutely fantastic piece of work by Svensson. The tips from the top athletes integrated with the very well designed and strategized training log pages make this a constant source of guidance, referral and of course log information.

I've been logging my training since 1979 with a variety of products and this beats everything by a large margin. What's interesting is that if you are beginner, it is very useful - covers all the basics and explains stuff in plain English. AND if you are an elite competitor, it is also very useful because of the insights from the top athletes and coaches and the extensive detail of the log pages. This is also a great gift idea.

3-0 out of 5 stars Logbook - Yes;Training Info - No
As a I start training for the very first time in triathalons, I thought this book would have much more complete training information then it does. The title is misleading. The training information is presented haphazardly and in my rookie opinion, at times confusing and incomplete. However I do find the logbook portion to be organized well, and the structure (binding and size)of the book enables me to take it with me on my trips away from home. I have also had fun keeping a log for the first time and it makes me feel more "accomplished" as I can see my progress. Lower the price a few dollars and it is a better deal.

1-0 out of 5 stars Will you REALLY use this?
Overpriced diary with very little training information. There is very little room to write

5-0 out of 5 stars IT JUST GETS BETTER AND BETTER
Tony Svensson has done it again. The Total Triathlon Almanac-4 is not just a revamping of previous versions. Each of the first three almanacs has had a particular editorial focus. The Total Triathlon Almanac-4 offers injuryprevention tips and secrets from the top professionals, making it theultimate resource for even the newest multi-sport athlete. You'll learneverything from changing a flat tire to swim technique, along with a fullspectrum of cycling and running workouts.

What do Ironman champions PaulaNewby-Fraser, Thomas Hellriegel, Mark Allen, Lori Bowden, Heather Fuhr andPeter Reid do in training? How do they build towards their biggest event? What are their favorite workouts? How do they make use of a heart ratemonitor? The answers are all here.

The Total Triathlon Almanac-4 is thebest-and least expensive-piece of training equipment you will ever buy. ... Read more
