The program is managed by the US Secretary of Defense and was established to facilitate the enrollment of International Students at America's Senior Military Colleges. The International Student Enrollment Program provides international students with a high-quality, cost-effective military-based educational experience while enhancing the experience and preparation of future American military leaders through interaction with highly qualified potential military leaders from other nations. Interested students should first review the Web-sites of all the Senior Military Colleges (SMC) of America, and contact the schools that best fit their academic and military interests. The SMC will then process students for admission and deal directly with the office of The Secretary of Defense to determine if any US Federal Scholarship Funds are available.

Extractions: The Navy gets the weather and the Air Force gets the helicopters. That's the result of a deal struck between Navy Secretary Gordon England and Air Force Secretary James Roche to transfer the Naval Postgraduate School's aeronautical engineering department to the Air Force Institute of Technology at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, Ohio. In return, the Air Force Institute will move its meteorological and military acquisition and procurement curricula to the Navy school in Monterey. A memorandum of agreement was signed by England and Roche on Wednesday. The agreement was described as an "alliance" between the two service schools by Lt. Cmdr. Joe Navratil, spokesman for NPS. Under the agreement, the Navy school will offer meteorology and courses in military acquisition, which were once offered at the Air Force Institute, and the institute will take over aeronautical engineering education, he said.
Extractions: The Naval Postgraduate School and Defense Language Institute received millions of federal dollars in order to spruce up their Monterey campuses, Rep. Sam Farr announced today. DLI received $1.4 million to improve drainage around its facilities. The Navy school received more than $9 million to begin replacing Spanagel Hall and a fence around campus. The money came from a $393 billion Department of Defense bill, which funds military construction and family housing, wages and other benefits for service members. Also Thursday, Congress granted $75,000 to the Fort Ord Reuse Authority to use toward building houses at Fort Ord. The money came from last year's spending bill for two congressional committees on which Farr sits. FORA will use the money to design housing programs at Fort Ord, said Michael Houlemard, the agency's executive director. email this print this

Do Citizens Have A Right To Control Their Own Lives? big big government, big cities, big business, big schools, big science Vermontminds its own business. It has no military bases, no cities, no big government http://www.progress.org/2003/vermont1.htm
Extractions: The Vermont Manifesto If your nation is making itself into a big target for hate, and if its apparent priorities run counter to your values, would you consider rebelling or seceding? What if your very survivial depended on it? Here is an interesting article, reprinted last summer by the Texas Observer after originally running in "Vermont Green Mountains - A Voice." A specter is haunting America the specter of technofascism a global system of imperialism in which ostensibly free individuals allow Corporate America and the United States government to manipulate and control their lives through money, markets, media, and technology, resulting in the loss of political will, civil liberties, and traditional culture. We the people of Vermont believe the United States of America has become too big, too powerful, too intrusive, too materialistic, too high-tech, too globalized, too militarized, too imperialistic, too violent, too undemocratic, and too unresponsive to the needs of individual citizens and small communities. National and Congressional elections are bought and sold to the highest bidder. State and local governments aasume too little responsibility for the solution of their own social, economic, and political problems, willingly abdicating their responsibilities. Our nation suffers from megalomania an obsession with personal power, influence, grandeur, and wealth and the obsessive-compulsive worship of anything that is big big government, big cities, big business, big schools, big science, big weapons, big computer networks, and big political unions.

No Child Unrecruited, By David Goodman, November/December 2002 Union High School in Bennington, vermont, was shocked letter in May from militaryrecruiters demanding provision requiring public secondary schools to provide http://www.wagingpeace.org/articles/02.12/1203goodman_military_recruitment.htm
Extractions: Sharon Shea-Keneally, principal of Mount Anthony Union High School in Bennington, Vermont, was shocked when she received a letter in May from military recruiters demanding a list of all her students, including names, addresses, and phone numbers. The school invites recruiters to participate in career days and job fairs, but like most school districts, it keeps student information strictly confidential. "We don't give out a list of names of our kids to anybody," says Shea-Keneally, "not to colleges, churches, employers nobody." But when Shea-Keneally insisted on an explanation, she was in for an even bigger surprise: The recruiters cited the No Child Left Behind Act, President Bush's sweeping new education law passed earlier this year. There, buried deep within the law's 670 pages, is a provision requiring public secondary schools to provide military recruiters not only with access to facilities, but also with contact information for every student or face a cutoff of all federal aid.
