Some IVF centers have very low pregnancy rates. Other centers may have high pregnancy rates, but also a very high rate of triplet or higher multiple births. For these reasons, all couples considering IVF treatment should get a written statement of their clinic's recent pregnancy rates and evaluate them in relation to other clinics. The four biggest variables affecting a program's pregnancy rates are: The quality of the laboratory environment and the skill and experience of the embryology staff The skill and experience of the reproductive endocrinologist (fertility specialist) The average number of embryos transferred per procedure The cases taken on by the program for IVF treatment. There are "good" patients and "bad" patients in the sense that some couples are more likely than others to have success from IVF because of

The individualized program is multi-cultural and uses developmentally appropriate practices. In Michigan, the Migrant Head Start program serves more than 1400 children each year. This means that more than 950 families receive services, many of which are identified as families in need of emergency or crisis assistance. The program in Michigan currently operates in 14 locations employing more than 500 staff including many who are either current or former Head Start parents. In addition to staff, there are more than 1,000 volunteers serving in our centers, logging in an excess of 10,000 hours of service. Time schedules for daily activities in our Migrant Head Start Centers are flexible and are dictated by childrens needs rather than adult schedules. This provides a predictable sequence to the day to help children feel secure. The following components of our program have been coordinated to help us meet our goals: We use The Creative Curriculum in our classrooms, which ensures safety and provides an active learning environment. It takes into consideration the individual differences, special needs, and cultural or ethnic diversity of each child. This curriculum changes with the interests and needs of the children.

Interestingly enough, however, there has been an increase in the number of clients who are not abortion-vulnerable, but simply want material resources such as furniture, maternity clothes, or baby accessories. THE PREGNANCY HELP MEDICAL CLINIC: by Thomas Glessner As we approach the dawn of a new millennium, exciting challenges await the pro-life ministry of pregnancy help centers. To meet these challenges, a powerful vision has been given that will put crisis pregnancy centers (CPCs) on the offense and dramatically increase their effectiveness. The National Institute of Family and Life Advocates (NIFLA) believes that the conversion of many current CPCs to licensed medical facilities will transform their operations, making them dynamic competitors with the abortion industry for the hearts, minds, and souls of abortion-vulnerable women. NIFLA has published a manual for centers that choose to convert to licensed medical facilities. "The Pregnancy Help Medical Clinic" contains all of the steps for converting to one of four models of operation. Included in this manual are checklists, organizational flow charts, and a sample manual of policies and procedures that will satisfy federal OSHA standards.

Fake clinics lure women with false advertising; provide misleading information about the health and psychological risks of abortion; often show women graphic, anti-abortion videos; refuse to provide abortion referrals; discourage women from using birth control; and may not have medical personnel on staff.

Extractions: John Jay Legal Services Pace's John Jay Legal Services currently offers direct representation clinical experience in three different areas: criminal trial advocacy, both prosecution and defense; disability rights litigation and transactional representation; and securities arbitration. The central purpose of a direct representation clinical program is to help students make the transition from doing what students do to doing what lawyers do, and to make this transition in a thoughtful, purposeful manner. The key is that the student is the lawyer not the assistant, not the researcher, but the lawyer. Externship opportunities include judicial clerkships, environmental law enforcement, criminal justice, health law and general civil advocacy on behalf of the disadvantaged. In addition, sufficient sections of simulated trial advocacy courses are offered to ensure that every student who wants that experience can have it. Other simulation-based skill development courses, including pretrial civil litigation and client interviewing, counseling, and negotiating, are recent additions to the curriculum. For a semester I had a judicial clerkship with a federal judge. I researched issues, wrote bench memoranda on contracts and torts, and sat in on criminal cases. It enhanced my writing and editing skills. As part of a judicial clerkship mentoring program, I wrote a decision, based on the facts of a real case, that served as my resume. It led to a two-year clerkship with a federal magistrate in Connecticut.
