Product Description

'Intelligence plus character—that is the goal of true education.'

—Martin Luther King, Jr.

As a teacher, you have the unique opportunity to teach and inspire your students to be goal-oriented, compassionate, confident, and ambitious. Anna Unkovich, a former teacher of thirty-five years, made a difference in her students' lives through the daily use of stories from the bestselling series Chicken Soup for the Soul.

For many years, Unkovich read these stories to her students and noticed remarkable changes in them, both academically and personally. Recognizing that today's teenagers have more challenges in finding positive role models, she teamed up with bestselling author Mark Victor Hansen and veteran teacher, inspirational speaker, and bestselling author Jack Canfield to create an unprecedented educational curriculum for teachers to use to empower their students in the same way that they have. Unkovich chose the most inspirational stories from the more than one hundred Chicken Soup books published. These stories, activities, and plans will enhance your existing curriculum. Designed to be read aloud to students, each story is accompanied by thought-provoking questions and exercises specifically designed and used by the authors.

Your students will identify with each of the powerful stories and will be encouraged to apply the lesson plans to their own lives, challenges, and situations, and at the same time improve their critical thinking and writing skills. More important, unlike other curriculums, Chicken Soup for the Soul in the Classroom educates and provides opportunities for open dialogue on real-life issues, including character building and self-esteem.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource for character education in middle schools
The stories and lesson plans in this book have one main objective - that of empowering students, especially at the middle school level. Many of the stories, in true Chicken Soup for the Soul fashion are inspiring and tell of people from all walks of life overcoming obstacles and empowering themselves. Each story comes with a lesson plan and suggested activities with themes such as "belonging", "peer pressure","divorce", "making decisions", "world issues", etc. and the appropriate grade level for a particular lesson. Many of the themes in this book are reflective of the real-life struggles of adolescents in a changing world. Many adolescents today face challenges such as parental divorce, peer pressure, self-image problems, etc. and the stories contained within this book provide insight into how some of these problems can be addressed. It is so important to make these children realize that they are not alone in their struggles and that help is there if they need it. This book is beneficial in a learner-centered classroom and can be used as part of character education as well as integrated in a language arts curriculum. Recommended!

5-0 out of 5 stars chicken soup for the soul-middle school edition
As a teacher and a mom, I am busy. This book provides all the thought-provoking questions to ask teens to get them to be more involved and take responsibility of their own character building. For me, it is effortless. The students read the story and I ask them questions. We have a conversation about their situations and scenarios from the book. The stories are very short and easy to read.I love it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Bond Building Tool
This book was an amazing addition to my classroom library.I have used it weekly to help my seventh grade students open up and we've formed bonds that you wouldn't believe.I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking to take their advisory classes to a whole new level.

5-0 out of 5 stars Chicken Soup for the Soul in the Classroom -Elementary Edition:
I have been graced with the opportunity to experience Chicken Soup for the Soul in the Classroom by Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen, and Anna Unkovich. I am a Spiritual Leader and the Youth Ministry Coordinator for Unity Church Five Cities in Arroyo Grande, California.

We are constantly on the hunt for worthy educational materials to teach and support our children. Also, it needs to be something interesting enough that not only keeps the children's attention but the attention of our Sunday school staff.

These books have been a God send. Not only are they fun and easy to use but they're inspirational as well. It is not always easy to find a curriculum that is systematized so that we may bring any of our teachers in and they will have a formula to follow. The Chicken Soup for the Soul in the Classroom books are just that.

With each story there is a not only a lesson plan, activities and questions for our teachers to follow, but each story comes with a positive life lesson... a life lesson, which serves our children's personal and especially their spiritual growth.

I would love to corner the markets on these books and keep them only in our Sunday school, but I must recommend them to anyone who has children or young adults.
Whether in a Sunday school setting such as ours, or public and private schools and especially those of us whom home school, these books are an excellent addition to anyone's curriculum.

Appreciating you,
Billy Mitchell

They also allow you to sharpen your teaching sword by improving upon what worked and what didn't.

Instead of getting in front of a class with little or no planning...

You get to bring your very best game possible.

Your students will notice the difference, and so will you.

Not only will they test higher, but they'll enjoy the process as well.

Its all too easy to tell when teachers haven't prepared, and it makes students want to disengage from class.

But when you prepare, you bring the very best you have...

Your students are more likely to be engaged, and you feel great about what you've done.

And there's nothing like ending the day feeling like you've made a difference.

This is more akin to an article rather than a book. While the information presented may be helpful to someone unfamiliar with lesson plans it is not for those with even minor experience preparing lesson plans. There are numerous spelling and grammatical mistakes throughout the work. The formatting for example lesson plans is incorrect and does not display correctly. This renders the last 40% of the article unusable. This is a very poor source and should be passed over.It is not worth the purchase price. ... Product Description
Far too often, students take a last-minute approach to GRE preparation, which leaves them confused, overwhelmed, and unprepared for the actual test. This publication offers a logical and progressive approach for students who want to avoid cramming by preparing for the GRE a few minutes every day. Each daily lesson plan includes a new vocabulary word, grammatical concept, and math problem that students are likely to see on the GRE.As the lessons progress, the material becomes increasingly more difficult, to prepare students for the harder – and more time consuming - questions. Most importantly, the book provides “monthly” and “quarterly” updates to reinforce material and build the student’s confidence. The GRE is an intimidating test, but a highly predictable one.Use this publication to gain the competitive edge that you deserve! ...
