STATE DATA CENTER PROGRAM
The State Data Center (SDC) Program is one of the Census Bureau's longest and most successful partnerships. It is a cooperative program between the states and the Census Bureau that was created in 1978 to make data available locally to the public through a network of state agencies, universities, libraries, and regional and local governments. The Business and Industry Data Center Program (BIDC) was added in 1988 to meet the needs of local business communities for economic data. SDC lead organizations are appointed by the Governor of that state.
The SDC program's mission is to provide easy and efficient access to U.S. Census Bureau data and information through a wide network of lead, coordinating and affiliate agencies in each state. To accomplish this mission, the SDCs work in partnership with the Census Bureau through the Customer Liaison Office (CLO) and the Regional Offices of the Census Bureau. A Memorandum of Understanding between each state, the District of Columbia, and the outlying areas of American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands supports this partnership.
The SDCs are official sources of demographic, economic, and social statistics produced by the Census Bureau. These data are made available by the Census Bureau to the SDCs at no charge (fees may be charged for customized products). The SDCs make these data accessible to state, regional, local and tribal governments, and non-governmental data users at no charge or on a cost-recovery or reimbursable basis as appropriate.

16. American Studies Program Graduate Students
in american studies from California state University at president of the Hawai`iamerican studies Association and and raised in both american samoa and samoa
http://www.hawaii.edu/amst/people_gradstudents.htm
Graduate Students Over the years UH American Studies graduate students have come from an extraordinarily wide range of backgrounds, with an equally diverse body of interests. At any given time a seminar in the department might find students from three continentswith specializations in film, politics, literature, art, popular culture, historic preservation, or moreengaged in animated cross-cultural discussion. Our current graduate students continue that tradition. Here are some of them: Magnus Andersson is working toward a PhD in the department, with particular emphases on technology and culture, criminal and social justice, and post-1945 domestic and international politics. He presently is doing research in the United States and Sweden on a dissertation dealing with U.S. military deserters and so-called draft dodgers who took refuge in Sweden between 1967 and 1973. Magnus was born in the small town of Halmstad in the south of Sweden and earned an MA in economics and an MBA (though he now says he can’t remember why) before joining the American Studies department. During his time in the department he has been a teaching assistant and lecturer and served as membership coordinator of the Hawai`i American Studies Association. Although he plans to return to Europe for a teaching career, he says "politically vibrant Hawai`i will always be my crossroad." Freda Arii Robyn Blanpied is a PhD candidate originally from upstate New York–"among the cows, apples, and snowdrifts," she says. After receiving a bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications, Robyn served as a commissioned officer in the US Air Force. At UH she earned an MA in American Studies, with a concentration in historic preservation, and presently is writing a dissertation on the use of images in constructing historic memories of the December 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor.

Election Connection This page represents one of the first steps in a long term project, tentatively titled the "Federal Elections Project" conducted by myself, David Lublin , at American University and D. Stephen Voss at the University of Kentucky . We hope to collect precinct election data from the 2000 presidential, congressional, and gubernatorial elections and make it accessible over the net. We further intend to match it with data with information from the 2000 U.S. Census. The links on this page are generally directed toward internet sources of election and demographic data. The quality of the data ranges widely some places have only totals, while others have results broken down by county or precinct. If you know of additional sites for American election data, or district maps or reapportionment offices, that I have not linked here, please email me at dlublin@american.edu General Internet Resources Election Data Resources on the Internet For countries around the world. Organized by Manuel Álvarez-Rivera. This page contains comprehensive links to election results in the United States Elections and Electoral Systems similarly has links to election information around the world.
