But when I came across the article "Dry Drunk" - - Is Bush Making a Cry for Help? in American Politics Journal by Alan Bisbort, I was ready to concede, in the case of George W. Bush, the phrase may be quite apt. Dry drunk is a slang term used by members and supporters of Alcoholics Anonymous and substance abuse counselors to describe the recovering alcoholic who is no longer drinking, one who is dry, but whose thinking is clouded. Such an individual is said to be dry but not truly sober. Such an individual tends to go to extremes. we would be going. First, in this essay, we will look at the characteristics of the so-called "dry drunk;" then we will see if they apply to this individual, our president; and then we will review his drinking history for the record. Biography
George W. Bush
President of the United States of America George W. Bush is the 43rd President of the United States. Formerly the 46th Governor of the state of Texas, Bush has earned a reputation as a compassionate conservative who shapes policy based on the principles of limited government, personal responsibility, strong families, and local control. George W. Bush was born July 6, 1946, and grew up in Midland and Houston, Texas. He received a bachelor's degree from Yale University and a Master's of Business Administration from Harvard Business School. He served as an F-102 pilot for the Texas Air National Guard before beginning his career in the oil and gas business in Midland in 1975, working in the energy industry until 1986. After working on his father's successful 1988 presidential campaign, he assembled the group of partners that purchased the Texas Rangers baseball franchise in 1989. He served as managing general partner of the Texas Rangers until he was elected Governor on November 8, 1994, with 53.5 percent of the vote. In an historic re-election victory, he became the first Texas Governor to be elected to consecutive four-year terms on November 3, 1998, winning 68.6 percent of the vote.

Anyone see this report that came out last night? Somethin' called the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights says the election in Florida was heavily biased against minorities. Wants my attorney general to investigate. I appreciate the sentiment, I really do, but I can't support that. Way I see it, even with these biases, the minority still managed to win, so I'm willin' to let bygones be bygones. No hard feelin's.
[Posted by G.W.] 12:37 a.m. To be honest, I'm kinda relieved. I was worried the report was gonna say the election was biased against majorities . Don't know what I'da done then.

So yesterday we have these two teams playin' on the South Lawn, and I'm sittin' there with Laura and Jeb and my Mom and Dad, and this cute little fella gets up and gives it a really hard swing. But he misses. And Dad gets really ugly. "God, this is embarrassing!" he yells. "I mean, c'mon, you had it all set up just like you wanted. All you had to do was keep your eye on the ball. But

Biography

With his victory in the 2000 election, George W. Bush became the first son of a president to win the White House since John Quincy Adams, son of John Adams, in 1824. On the road to winning the nation's highest office, he benefited not only from the example of his father, George Herbert Walker Bush, the 41st president, but also that of his grandfather, Prescott Bush, a widely respected U.S. senator. And his victory over Democrat Al Gore, vice president to Bill Clinton, who had ousted Bush's father only eight years earlier, gave the new President Bush the opportunity to restore his family's political reputation. Early Years George Walker Bush was born on July 6, 1946, in New Haven, Connecticut, where his father, just returned from World War II, was attending Yale University. Bush's mother, the former Barbara Pierce, later gave birth to three more sons, John (Jeb), Neil, and Marvin, and two daughters, Dorothy and Robin. After George Bush graduated from Yale, he set out for Texas, hoping to make his fortune in the oil business. The Bushes settled in Midland, where young George had a relatively untroubled childhood, apart from the tragic death of his sister Robin from leukemia in 1953. As he reached high school age, George left Texas to attend the same elite eastern schools as had his father, Phillips Academy and Andover. But his years in the Lone Star State helped shape his life. "I was educated up East, but my heart was always back in Texas," he later told an interviewer. He was not an outstanding student, nor an exceptional athlete. His greatest strength was in getting along with his fellow students.
