As described in Activity 1, this calendar sets year 1 as the year in which Christ was born. The year 2000 is a direct result of setting that date. Other cultures use different schemes and different dates for beginning the counting of time. As a result, January 1, 2000, will be just another date in those cultures. Below is a brief explanation of the Japanese, Hebrew, Islamic, Chinese, and Indian calendar systems. Each section contains the equivalent date for January 1, 2000 in that calendar system and allows you to find your birthday using that calendar.
