Department of Computer Science
Computer science at Princeton is undergoing a period of rapid growth and change that parallels the growth and change in the field in general. The most obvious signs of this activity are the growth in the size of the faculty, which has nearly doubled since the department was formed in 1985, the development of new courses and curricular options, and the opening of the new computer science building. As an emerging academic discipline, computer science exposes its students to a broad variety of topics. At the same time students can learn a particular area deeply enough to become involved in "edge-of-the-art" research. The curriculum also encourages students to combine their computer science studies with interests in other areas. Many students find computer science to be an attractive alternative to traditional majors such as physics, mathematics, or one of the engineering disciplines. The curriculum accommodates the needs of a broad range of students, from those who want to study the field within the context of a liberal arts curriculum to those who want a full technical curriculum with a firm basis in science and mathematics. Most computer science students enjoy programming and are given ample opportunity to do so within the curriculum.

Statistics like that are what prompted the Canadian Information Processing Society (CIPS) and several other organizations to hold a women in IT event to educate Grade 9 girls about the benefits of careers in technology. The national event, held at Ryerson University in Toronto for an audience of 500, was similar to several being held across the country by CIPS on International Women's Day.

Careers in Music
There exists a great diversity of choice for someone seeking employment in music related fields at the present time. However, very few of these options offer an adequate sole income. For example, very few composers are lucky enough to have an adequate income from composition alone; most will have to supplement their income with private teaching, tertiary teaching, etc. The same can be said for performers. There are many people who do make a relatively good income from several sources, often all in music related fields. For instance it is quite common to find people working simultaneously as freelance performers, composers (often for film or television) as well as doing private instrumental teaching. This diversity of options means that it is possible to construct a complementary combination of income-earning skills based upon a person's individual talents and interests providing that some care is given to initial planning. It also takes a significant amounts of time and dedication to become established in the chosen areas. There are many lucrative career opportunities that have a component of music as well involving other skills. This is particularly true in areas involving technology and computers. Computer literacy is a distinct advantage in almost all areas of employment and is particularly important in some areas of music. The rapid development of digital technologies has made some employment options redundant while at the same time creating a wealth of new opportunities. These new technologies have implications in all areas of music from academic studies to performance, composition and beyond.

Graduates may pursue careers in either computer science or The Master of Science degreein computer Science is the student's knowledge in the areas of database
http://www.ecs.baylor.edu/ecs/computer_science/csgeninfo.htm
As society becomes immersed in the Information Age, the computing discipline has become widely entangled with other disciplines. Computer scientists are more than just programmers. They work to solve problems from all walks of life. One may be involved in science exploring the mysteries of the universe and another may be involved in medical research. A computer scientist may be solving problems with engineers in design and implementation projects while another makes extensive use of computers in music, art, or business information processing. Because computer science is ever-changing and closely interacts with other disciplines, it is important that computer science programs encompass a broad range of topics, such as programming and programming languages, hardware and software systems design, and formal languages and computation theory. The computer science degree programs at Baylor represent these topics in its curriculum. A major strength of the programs is the balance between practice and theory. Some classes collaborate with local companies on projects. Students apply theory to solve real problems, gaining valuable experience while the company gains an inside track for hiring graduates experienced in its industry.

Careers in Mathematics and Statistics
What sort of careers are there in mathematics and statistics?
This is a question many students ask. A quick glance at the 'Situations Vacant' section of Saturday's Press is enough to see that there are few, if any, relevant jobs listed under MATHEMATICS or STATISTICS. A more in-depth look will reveal that mathematics and statistics graduates are employed in many different areas. Industry, commerce, government departments and teaching represent some of the more obvious ones. Some jobs require specific mathematical or statistical skills while others, although not directly involving these skills, require the ability to think precisely and reason logically; these are abilities gained from your mathematical studies. Generally business, industry and government want people who have a broad background and interest in a variety of mathematical areas, computation and science. Therefore you need to take papers that will expand your knowledge of applications of mathematics and statistics. The most directly applicable papers would be in biology, economics, engineering, physics, accounting, management and computer science. In particular, there are very good job opportunities in financial mathematics and in computing combined with mathematics. Employers in both private and government sectors are increasingly seeking top graduates from a general field, sometimes not specifying any particular discipline at all. They want bright people whom they will train. Also, the need for people who have a working knowledge of statistics has burgeoned in recent years. Many employers participated in the 2002 Graduate Recruitment Programme organised by the Careers Advisory Service, and the following were specifically seeking graduates in mathematics and/or statistics.

Careers in Computer Science
The computer industry is a growth industry that shows no signs of slowing dow in the next decade. There are so many avenues open to computer science graduates that it is hard to choose and hard to know where to begin. Your decision will be considerably easier if you know what the jobs are and what they entail. Since there are no standard job classifications in the computer industry, several different titles may often represent the same type of job. For example, a programmer-analyst can be higher, lower, or equal to a systems analyst, depending on the company. Technical support specialist, product support specialist, and systems engineer all refer to essentially the same job. Therefor, when you are looking for a job, do not depend on the job title as much as on the job description. The Association for Computing Machinery ( ACM ) has career information also.
