Madeleine Albright, U.S. secretary of state

The president's chief foreign affairs advisor has become a key supporter and spokeswoman of the administration's policy toward Iraq. During a Feb. 2 press briefing in Saudi Arabia, Albright said diplomacy was preferred over conflict. But she remains "skeptical" that Saddam Hussein will comply with U.N. Security Council resolutions requiring unfettered inspections of weapons. Albright is the first female secretary of state.

It's a tribute to the movement that you have again convened such a diverse array of democracy activists from around the world. No one could possibly look at your gathering and deny that freedom is a universal aspiration. The men and women you have brought together represent every part of the world, every religious and philosophical tradition. Yet, all are dedicated to the proposition that government should be of and for and by the people. You teach us that democracy is not the birthright of any culture or faith, it is the one system of government that empowers people to shape their own lives according to their own values and traditions. The one system that respects human differences, that allows us to live together despite those differences.

    President Clinton's Unknown Father
One of the great mysteries of our time concerns President Clinton's Unknown father. The mystery is not only that his father is unknown. Rather, it is that this subject is never mentioned.
William Jefferson Blythe in 1944, said to be the real father of Bill Clinton, but he doesn't seem to look much like Bill.
Clinton was born in Chicago and raised as a Methodist. There has always been talk about Clinton's "abusive step father". However, there has never been mention of his real biological father. In celebration of Mother's Day, CNN News put out the following about Clinton's father: "President Clinton's Father was killed in a car accident before he was born, leaving his mother, Virginia, to raise him alone until she remarried four years after his birth." Source: "1998 NYT Almanac" This cryptic statement does not provide us with any real information. The name of Clinton's father is either unknown or has never been revealed.
The reason I find this question to be particularly interesting is that Clinton's middle name is Jefferson. Clinton also invokes the name of Thomas Jefferson at every opportunity. I am really an expert on the slaves of Thomas Jefferson. I know more about this subject than any person alive (an easy statement to make, since all the renowned experts are now dead.) I wrote a book on this entitled

Bill Clinton obsesses about his legacy. But just what is it, exactly? By Kenneth T. Walsh (Charlie Archambault for President Bill Clinton leaves the East Room of the White House after making a speech in 1998. It was classic Clinton, artfully blending good intentions and self-promotion. His final initiatives may be destined to fail: Senate Republicans vow to block the court treaty and overturn the land lockup, and all sides remain far apart in the Mideast. But even President-elect George W. Bush expresses grudging admiration for Clinton's perseverance. "He's a man, obviously, who's going to work up to the last minute of the last day of his administration," Bush said. Privately, however, he was miffed that Clinton was pushing so hard in a last, frenzied attempt to make his mark. Actually, there is not much that Bush, or anyone else, can do about it. Clinton loves being president and won't relinquish any part of the job until he absolutely has to, when his term expires on Saturday. Just look at him: Despite all his trials and traumas, the guy barely aged during his eight years in the White House. Sure, his hair is grayer, and the eye pouches are puffier. Still, he looks healthier than he did when he took the oath of office as the nation's 42nd president on a frigid afternoon in 1993. William Daley, U.S. Secretary of Commerce from 1997-2000, will report directly to Edward Whitacre, SBC chairman and chief executive officer, in the future and signals the belief by many on SBC's board of directors that it will need a strong government insider to succeed in today's regulatory environment. William J. Clinton During the administration of William Jefferson Clinton, the U.S. enjoyed more peace and economic well being than at any time in its history. He was the first Democratic president since Franklin D. Roosevelt to win a second term. He could point to the lowest unemployment rate in modern times, the lowest inflation in 30 years, the highest home ownership in the country's history, dropping crime rates in many places, and reduced welfare roles. He proposed the first balanced budget in decades and achieved a budget surplus. As part of a plan to celebrate the millennium in 2000, Clinton called for a great national initiative to end racial discrimination. After the failure in his second year of a huge program of health care reform, Clinton shifted emphasis, declaring "the era of big government is over." He sought legislation to upgrade education, to protect jobs of parents who must care for sick children, to restrict handgun sales, and to strengthen environmental rules.

Ross Perot . In his first year in office, Clinton won passage of a national service program and of tax increases and spending cuts to reduce the federal deficit. He also proposed major changes in the U.S. health-care system that ultimately would have provided health-insurance coverage to most Americans. Clinton was unable to overcome widespread opposition to changes in the health-care system, however, and in a major policy defeat, failed to win passage of his plan. Clinton's wife, Hillary Rodham Clinton , whom he married in 1975, played a more visibly active role in her husband's first term than most first ladies; she was particularly prominent in his attempt to revamp the health-care system.

May 13, 1997 The Honorable William J. Clinton
    President of the United States
    The White House
Washington, D.C. 20500 Dear Mr. President: We are again writing concerning the declassification and release of documents pertaining to human rights abuses in Honduras during the 1980's. While we welcome your commitment to encourage all relevant U.S. agencies to conduct an expedited review and declassification of documents regarding human rights violations in Honduras, we remain concerned that, as of this date, the only agency that has declassified a significant number of documents and made them available to the Government of Honduras is the Department of State. The Department of Defense, which is supposed to be "in the final stages of its review and declassification," has declassified only 34 documents. The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has declassified only 36 documents, all of which are related to the case of Father James Carney's disappearance. This is far from sufficient. The request for declassification presented by Honduran Human Rights Ombudsman Leo Valladares covers documents pertaining to five specific cases in addition to that of Father Carney, as well as documents concerning General Gustavo Alvarez Martinez and Battalion 3-16. We have received no indication as to when, or whether, the DOD or the CIA will declassify its documents on these subjects. We continue to believe, along with Dr. Valladares and Honduran government, that declassification and release of these documents to the Government of Honduras is necessary to strengthen democracy in that country. Those who have operated with impunity in the past are resisting efforts to promote the climate and structures that will guarantee basic rights and freedoms for all Honduran citizens. By declassifying our files, we can bring an end to this situation and clear the way to prosecuting those individuals who are guilty of human rights violations.

He was elected President after promising 65 different special interest groups he would cut the military budget and spend every penny on their particular agenda. He was sworn in on January 20, 1993. Four years later, on November 5, 1996, He was re-elected for a second four-year term. His lasting presidential legacy is that he became the only president of the 20th century to be impeached for lying under oath about his use of cigars with 21 year-old White House intern Monica Lewinski. The Clinton Collection President Clinton had little interest in reading, preferring TV and peeking through keyholes for his main sources of information. This resulted in the one of the smallest literary collections ever assembled for a presidential library. Fortunately, a number of the volumes in his personal library were collected before they made it to the shredder, and are preserved for posterity. A number of his more special volumes had the pages mysteriously glued together, but diligent restoration work by the U.S. Library of Congress Archives Restoration Section has opened them up for the public to view. President Clinton took great comfort in reading the classics. Among the greatest treasures in his personal collection were an original March 1986 copy of Playboy featuring the article "Can Jack Kemp Outplay Bill Bradley" It was believed that this was the principal document that made him decide to run for his first term.
