Merging the 1970s style of melodic rock that Iron Maiden popularized and developed with a newer, darker and more simplistic style of metal derived from the extremes of black and death metal. Although distinctive in aesthetic it is structured like death metal and provides a good classic metal listening experience. The Somberlain

Production: Clear, slightly muddied but irrelevant as it brings twists to melodic timbre. Review: A death metal band playing heavy metal in the hazy aura of black metal technique, creates an interesting and very listenable allow that despite lacking the flow and inscrutability of hardcore black metal creates an atmosphere specific to the genre. An influence from Necrophobic, perhaps in the sweeping riffs which move from broad intervals through a melodic bridge to binary variation, and songs which move from there into permutations of central riffs while keeping an ear for melody and the harmonic sublime. Similar to bands such as At the Gates or Sentenced Dissection integrate heavy metal melodic playing with smooth and lengthy black metal riffs, allowing harmonic space to be saturated by osmosis in preparation for thematic narrative and conclusion. Sonorous and often gentle, this album embraces a different aesthetic from black metal in its wavelike complement and recursion, with an emphasis on motion and structure in a style consistent from speed metal through the renaissance of death metal.

It has long been known that for any two polygons of equal area (or groups of polygons adding to the same area) there is a collection of smaller polygonal pieces that can be arranged to form either of the two polygons; this partition into smaller pieces is known as a dissection . For instance, a square may be partitioned into four polygonal pieces, which can be rearranged to form an equilateral triangle of the same area. This idea was used by Hilbert to develop an axiomatic theory of plane area. Dissection has some potential application to random generation of points; it is easy to generate uniformly distributed points in a square, so by dissecting the square to another shape one can generate points in that shape. Dissection is also closely related to the Banach-Tarski paradox (which concerns itself with similar set-theoretic partitions). But problems of dissection also have more recreational aspects, concerned with minimizing the number of pieces in dissections of specific shapes. I am interested here in a different but closely related problem: partitioning a polygon or group of polygons into a dissection such that the pieces can be rearranged to tile the plane. Each piece must be used with a density proportional to its area (otherwise one could just take a square out of the middle of one polygon and not use the other pieces). Any polygon can be dissected and rearranged to form a unit-width rectangle, so any group of polygons has a

Cockroach Dissection We begin with Take 2 filming of a cockroach dissection. Dr. Richard Fell performs the procedure. The cockroach is chilled on ice to slow its activity. The underside of the wings are then pinned to the dissection plate. The legs are removed and additional pins are inserted at the base of the wings. Once the cockroach is securely fastened to the plate, the side or ventral cuts along the abdomen are made to remove the exoskeleton. The fat body is teased apart with forceps and removed to expose the internal organs more clearly. The most noticeable system of organs we see once the fat body is removed is the digestive system. The major structures include the crop, gastric caeca, midgut, Malpighian tubules and hindgut. The crop, an enlargement of the foregut, serves as temporary storage for undigested food. Digestion of complex sugars begins in the foregut. Gastric caeca, the elongated pouches at the beginning of the midgut, contain bacteria which aid in digestion. The midgut is the primary area for digestion and absorption. Contents from the midgut and Malpighian tubules empty into the hindgut, where final resorption of water, salts, and nutrients from the feces and urine takes place before excretion.

http://www.peta.org/kids/disindex.html
More and more students from elementary school to veterinary and medical school are taking a stand against dissection before it happens in their classes. Cut It Out!
What happens to the animals before the schools place their orders for bodies? PETA did undercover investigations at biological supply companies, which sell animal bodies and parts, and found nightmarish acts of animal cruelty, including the drowning of rabbits and cats embalmed while they were still alive. Check it out for yourself in this video
You can also read more about dissection in PETA’s " Guide to Animals and the Dissection Industry ."
If you’re in grades kindergarten through 12 and attend public school in the following states, just say "no": Pennsylvania, Maryland, Florida, New York, Illinois, Rhode Island, California, and Louisiana. These states have dissection choice laws in place. Private schools, colleges, and universities are not covered by those laws, but you can still get an alternative. You’ve just got to ask for it the right way (see number 2 below).
Meet with the instructor right away and tell him or her that you cannot participate in the dissection because of your "sincerely held religious and moral beliefs about the sanctity of all life," and ask for a non-animal alternative. These words provide the basis for a possible legal case. (You do not have to support any formal religion; the courts have interpreted a belief that animals should not be killed for classroom dissection to be a religious belief, which schools cannot violate.) Do not offer a detailed explanation, and don’t get into an argument or try to defend your beliefs—you don’t have to. State your position in writing, be calm and polite, and ask for a prompt response. Make it clear that observing other students dissect an animal isn’t an acceptable alternative—it’s indirect participation in the dissection. Keep copies of all correspondence and detailed notes of conversations; take notes during any meetings.

Dissection: Lessons in Cruelty
Dissection is the practice of cutting into and studying animals. Every year, 5.7 million animals are used in secondary and college science classes. (1) Each animal sliced open and discarded represents not only a life lost, but also just a small part of a trail of animal abuse and environmental havoc. Suppliers Frogs are the most commonly dissected animals below the university level. Other species include cats, mice, rats, worms, dogs, rabbits, fetal pigs, and fishes. The animals may come from breeding facilities which cater to institutions and businesses that use animals in experiments; they may have been caught in the wild; or they could be stolen or abandoned companion animals. One of PETA's undercover investigators at one of the nation's largest suppliers of animals for dissection was told by his supervisor that some of the cats killed there were companion animals who had "escaped" from their homes. Slaughterhouses and pet stores also sell animals and animal parts to biological supply houses. PETA investigators documented cases of animals being removed from gas chambers and injected with formaldehyde without first being checked for vital signs (a violation of the Animal Welfare Act). (Formaldehyde is a severely irritating caustic substance which causes a painful death.) Investigators videotaped cats and rats struggling during infusion and employees spitting on the animals.

ABSTRACT
We have developed a set of techniques for providing interactive 3D graphics via the Web as part of the ``Whole Frog'' project ]. We had three goals: (1) to provide K-12 biology students with the ability to explore the anatomy of a frog with a virtual dissection tool; (2) to show the feasibility of interactive visualization over the Web; and (3) to show the possibility for the Web and its associated browsers to be an easily used and powerful front end for high-performance computing resources. We have developed techniques to utilize the CGI capability of WWW servers to provide an interactive 3D visualization front end through Web clients. These techniques have been used to make a ``Virtual Frog Dissection Kit'' . A student using this kit has the ability to view various parts of a frog from many different angles, and with the different anatomical structures visible or invisible. For example, the student can press ``form'' buttons that indicate that he or she wants to view the frog from above, with the exterior and skeleton removed. An advantage to this technique, as opposed to dissecting a real frog, is that undissection is as easy as dissection. The kit has a forms -based interface. Form submission results in a call to a

If you do use them, please acknowledge the source. Most of the anatomical descriptions are presented as laboratory exercises and many have been used in the invertebrate zoology courses at Lander University, the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution, and the Duke University Marine Lab. Those that have been so used have benefited from numerous revisions based on many years of student use. Others are simply transcriptions of my field notes and have received no testing or revision. These undoubtedly contain inaccuracies and some are incomplete. The emphasis in these guides is on the use of living or freshly killed, unpreserved specimens. Where possible representative species have been chosen that are readily available inexpensively and alive from super markets, bait stores, or fish markets. Whenever possible I have used introduced or commercially farmed species in preference to natives.

Any two rectilinear figures with equal area can be dissected into a finite number of pieces to form each other. This is the Wallace-Bolyai-gerwein theorem . For minimal dissections of a triangle pentagon , and octagon into a square , see Stewart (1987, pp. 169-170) and Ball and Coxeter (1987, pp. 89-91). The triangle to square dissection ( haberdasher's problem ) is particularly interesting because it can be built from hinged pieces which can be folded and unfolded to yield the two shapes (Gardner 1961; Stewart 1987, p. 169; Pappas 1989; Steinhaus 1999, pp. 3-4; Wells 1991, pp. 61-62). Laczkovich (1988) proved that the circle can be squared in a finite number of dissections ( ). Furthermore, any shape whose boundary is composed of smoothly curving pieces can be dissected into a square The situation becomes considerably more difficult moving from two dimensions to three dimensions. In general, a polyhedron cannot be dissected into other polyhedra of a specified type. A cube can be dissected into cubes , where n is any integer . In 1900, Dehn proved that not every

"Whole Frog" Project
INTRODUCTION
The ITG "Whole Frog" project is intended to introduce the concepts of modern, computer based 3D visualization, and at the same time to demonstrate the power of whole body, 3D imaging of anatomy as a curriculum tool. The goal of the Whole Frog Project is to provide high school biology classes the ability to explore the anatomy of a frog by using data from high resolution MRI imaging and from mechanical sectioning, together with 3D surface and volume rendering software to visualize the anatomical structures of the intact animal. Ultimately we intend to be able to "enter the heart and fly down blood vessels, poking our head out at any point to see the structure of the surrounding anatomy". A summary of this may be found in:

A cube can be divided into n subcubes for only n = 1, 8, 15, 20, 22, 27, 29, 34, 36, 38, 39, 41, 43, 45, 46, and (Sloane's ; Hadwiger 1946; Scott 1947; Gardner 1992, p. 297). This sequence provides the solution to the so-called Hadwiger problem , which asks for the largest number of subcubes (not necessarily different) into which a cube cannot be divided by plane cuts, and has the answer 47 (Gardner 1992, pp. 297-298). If m and n are in the sequence, so is , since n -dissecting one cube in an m -dissection gives an -dissection. The numbers 1, 8, 20, 38, 49, 51, 54 are in the sequence because of dissections corresponding to the equations
Combining these facts gives the remaining terms in the sequence, and all numbers , and it has been shown that no other numbers occur (D. Hickerson). It is not possible to cut a cube into subcubes that are all different sizes (Gardner 1961, p. 208; Gardner 1992, p. 298). The seven pieces used to construct the cube dissection known as the Soma cube are one 3- polycube and six 4- polycubes ), illustrated above.
