The International Language Esperanto La Internacia Lingvo
Esperanto is a language that was developed in 1887 by Ludwik Zamenhof with the specific intent of creating an international second language. In 1905, Zamenhof published his Fundamento de Esperanto , which lays down the basic principles of the language's structure and formation. Esperanto is probably the most successful of the artificial international languages. The number of Esperanto speakers is estimated at more than 2 million. The Universala Esperanto-Asocio (founded in 1908) has members in 83 countries, and there are 50 national Esperanto associations that use Esperanto. There is an annual World Esperanto Congress, and over 100 periodicals are published in the language. More than 30,000 books have been published in Esperanto. 5. ILANI YA PRAHA
Prague Declaration on the movement for esperanto language, 1996.
http://www.esperanto.se/dok/pragman_sw.html

    7. Esperanto: language for international communication This project, like the previous ones, is expected to take decades to evolve; the project is to gradually disseminate across the world a single language for international communication; we believe that only Esperanto is fit for the purpose. Global world with the unified information network, unified economy, unified sphere classes and, in the future, an unified religion, needs a unified language. Serving only the purpose of international communication, such a language is to supplement the languages already existing , rather than to replace them. The limitation by this function will not allow it to change the international communication by ethnic peculiarities of one or another natural language. Moreover, why do Spanish, Chinese, Arab, African, and other language worlds have to use English for international communication? Why not the other way round? Such questions are absolutely legitimate and valid. Voluntary adoption of an artificial language equal for everyone would take these questions off the agenda. For an international artificial language, Esperanto is the best choice: it has been tested for over a century and has millions (the figures quoted differ from 10 to 20 million) of advocates in nearly 120 countries; it is very simple and easy to use, write and pronounce. The Esperanto Declaration adopted in 1905 by the International Congress of Esperantists thus defines the essence of Esperanto and Esperantism. "Esperantism is the endeavour to spread throughout the entire world the use of this neutral, human language

En la unua chapitro ¡®Introduction¡¯, menciante ke Zamenhof ne nur kreas la kadron de lingvo, ankau liveras al mondo la diversajn tradukajhojn kaj originlajn literaturajhojn, la autoro argumentas utile ¡°Zamenhof wishes to set an example to the adherents of his new langauge by devoting his entire adult life to demonstrating that his innovative linguistic project was functional, practical, and accessible to anyone who might elect to learn it and use it.¡±(p. 19). Kial? Esperanto is the international language which was invented by
Dr. L.L. Zamenhof, a Polish oculist, in 1887. Because of the beautiful simplicity of its grammar, and because of the enormously rich and varied range of lexical meanings which the language is able to build from a relatively small number of root words, Esperanto gained popularity quickly as an auxiliary language in all five continents. Estimates of exactly how many speakers the language has seem to vary considerably, but suffice it to say that the number of letters which Five Continents International Penfriends Club receives in Esperanto would be quite sufficient to make things rather difficult here if we did not happen to have a resident Esperantist on the premises! The following three programs will be of great value to most students in their first three years of learning the international language.
ESP-2) ESP-TRAN. This program generates random ENGLISH sentences at pre-selected levels for translation INTO ESPERANTO (from a range of over a BILLION possible different sentences). Every time the student keys in an ESPERANTO sentence identical with the model translation generated by the computer, it plays a few notes of music in acknowledgment. When the student's ESPERANTO differs from that of the computer, the programmed translation appears on screen for the student to make comparisons. Most students (young and old!) learn fast this way; and... is there any teacher of ESPERANTO who could NOT make good use of this program?
