Dottie Potter Zenaty is in her 33rd year as head field hockey coach and associate professor of physical education at Springfield College. Her reputation as an outstanding educator and coach has been instrumental in the growth and popularity of women's field hockey on the national level.
In 1988, Zenaty assisted with the selection of the U.S. Olympic Team, which competed in Seoul, South Korea and, prior to the Olympic Games, she accompanied the national team to Perth, Australia, for an international competition. In 1989, she served as an assistant coach for the U.S. Junior Under-21 Team that competed in the first World Cup Championship in Ottawa, Canada, and coached the Junior National squad in the Pan American Games in Argentina. In 1990, she was named the College Field Hockey Coaches Association (CFHCA) Division I Coach of the Year and was also inducted into the Springfield College Athletic Hall of Fame. She was honored at the NCAA Division I Championship as part of the NCAA's 10th Anniversary of Women's Athletics for her contributions as a coach, clinician, NCAA committee member, and chairperson/administrator of the national championship. In the summer of 1997, Zenaty coached the U.S. Under-18 Team at the Montreal Cup in Canada.
Zenaty has coached in five U.S. Olympic Sports Festivals and supervised four NCAA Division I championships, including two on the Springfield College campus. Zenaty served on the executive board of the U.S. Field Hockey Association for seven years and as chairperson of the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Committee. In 1997, the U.S. Olympic Committee named Zenaty as the Field Hockey Developmental Coach of the Year.

Three times he was named to the coaching staff of the U.S. Olympic team; twice as an assistant (1968 and 1976) and in 1980 he was named head coach of the U.S. team, the largest American swimming and diving team assembled at that time. He also coached the 1967 U.S. Pan American Games team, and two U.S. National Teams that toured Japan in 1975 and the Soviet Union in 1981. At Rutgers, Elm can best be described as the driving force in the development of the swimming and diving program. He developed 10 Olympic swimmers- two gold medal winners, several Pan Am Games swimmers, five of whom won gold medals. He also tutored several individual and national championship swimmers as well as national relay champions. He oversaw the development of the women's swimming and diving program at Rutgers, a team that went undefeated from 1973-75. Near the end of his career, he was able to help oversee the construction of the Sonny Werblin Recreation Center, one of the finest swimming and diving facilities in America.

April 7, 2003 Netherlands retains Olympic title SYDNEY, Australia (AP) The Netherlands retained the Olympic men's field hockey title Saturday, defeating first-time finalist South Korea 8-7 in a clash decided on penalty strokes.

Hockey Centre Credit: Olympic Co-ordination Authority The State Hockey Centre, Australia's new premier field hockey facility, is part of the State Sports Centre and one of the finest hockey venues in the world.
Developed by the New South Wales Government's Olympic Co-ordination Authority, the State Hockey Centre was delivered almost a year ahead of the commitment date in the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games bid.
Open as a venue for hockey since completion of the main competition pitch in March 1998, the new facilities provide athletes with ample opportunity to familiarize themselves with the Olympic venue before the Games.

U.S. Field Hockey Keeps Olympic Dreams Alive
American team takes on China Saturday for Sydney berth. March 31, 2000 The U.S. Field Hockey team defeated Japan 2-0 on Friday to advance to Saturday's matchup with China and keep alive its dream of an Olympic berth. The winner of the U.S.-China game will finish fifth in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament, being played in Milton Keynes, England, and earn a spot in the 2000 Sydney Olympics. UNC alum Peggy Storrar earned the shutout for the U.S. team against Japan. Former Tar Heel Cindy Werley and rising senior Jana Toepel also were in the starting lineup. Kate Barber , another former Carolina player, was a substitute. The U.S. team took a first-half lead on a penalty corner goal by Kris Fillat. Kelli James scored on a breakaway in the second half. "People who we expected to play well really stepped up today and had very good games," U.S. coach Tracey Belbin said. "We had more peole on the field playing well for longer periods of time and it's excellent to see that." Germany, Spain, Great Britain and New Zealand have locked up the top four tournament spots to earn places in the Olympic field. Argentina, Australia, Korea, The Netherlands and South Africa already had qualified for the games.

Team finishes sixth at qualifying tournament after 2-0 loss to China. April 4, 2000 The U.S. Field Hockey Team's hope of earning an Olympic berth came to an end on Saturday, April 1, with a 2-0 loss to China in the fifth-sixth place game at the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Milton Keynes, England. Teams that finished in the top five places-New Zealand, Great Britain, Germany, Spain and China-earned spots in the field at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia. The U.S. team will miss the Games for just the second time in six opportunities. "I think over the course of the past week we played pretty good field hockey," U.S. captain Tracey Fuchs said. "I think our team is headed in the right direction, Hopefully we can keep going and keep improving for 2004 and the World Cup in 2002." The Carolina program was well-represented on the U.S. team. COLORADO SPRINGS Colo. - The United States Field Hockey Association has named Renae Jackson as Assistant Director of Olympic Development.     Jeff Woods has a long list of accomplishments both as a coach and a player. Last year, he added to that list by playing an instrumental role in Radford joining the Nor-Pac Conference. In their inaugural season, he guided the Highlanders to an 8-15 overall and 3-3 conference record, tying for second place in the east division.
    Woods picked up his first NorPac win on Sept. in their inaugural game, defeating Appalachian State, 2-1 at home. RU also won the consolation championship at their first tournament with another 2-1 victory over ASU. Under his direction, two of his players, Tessa Brookes and Brooke Peterson, were named to the All-Conference first and second teams respectively. Peterson also garnered all-tournament honors.
    The longtime coach will be entering his 17th season as the head of the Highlander Field Hockey program. He has enjoyed success at both the collegiate and international levels. He has been recognized for his achievements in the coaching ranks over the years. In 1996, he led the Highlanders to a 10-8 mark and was named the Colonial Athletic Association Coach of the Year.
    In 1991, Woods guided Radford to a 17-7 record, its most successful season ever, and was named the south Region Co-Coach of the Year by the national coaches' association.

    Head Coach: Linda MacDonald Fifth Season Pacific Record (Entering 2003): 22-59 Graduated:
    Springfield College, 1973 Linda MacDonald coached the Tigers to a 4-14 record in 2002 in her fifth season as the head coach of Pacific's field hockey team. Previously, she served as an assistant coach under Carla Konet at Pacific for 11 seasons. Prior to Pacific, she was the head coach at Bentley College in Waltham, Mass. from 1984-87, where she amassed an impressive 37-9-2 record and an appearance in the NCAA Division III Final Four in 1986. She competed on the U.S. National Field Hockey squad in 1976. Along with her collegiate coaching duties, MacDonald has been a coach in the National Futures Program since 1991 and was the West Region Coaching Director in 1992. She was a manager for the West teams at the United States Olympic Sports Festival in 1990 and 1991. For 18 years, she has coached in the U.S. Developmental Program at various levels. The past two summers, she coached at Supercamp in Maryland. She is also co-director of the York-Pacific Field Hockey Camp at the York School on the Monterey Peninsula. MacDonald graduated cum laude in 1973 from Springfield College (MA). She was a four-year starter on the field hockey team, which went 24-6-5 during that time.
