Outlook Roster Schedule Profiles ... Facilities Tradition Camps Alumni Recruiting Yale Field Hockey Tradition Field hockey began modestly at Yale almost two decades ago, but its growth has been a rapid one, marked by strong leadership, dedication and commitment. The field hockey program boasts an Ivy League championship, an Ivy Player of the Year and three league rookies of the year as part of its distinguished history. Field hockey in recent years has gained a reputation for high standards at Yale with its schedule of top-notch competition, facing several nationally ranked teams in addition to its seven Ivy opponents. 1998 was a year to remember for the Bulldogs. They won a school-record 15 games, were nationally ranked for most of the season and captured the ECAC Championship for the first time in school history. The development of women’s field hockey at Yale was signaled by its first Ivy crown in 1980, when the Elis posted a 6-3-5 record. The next year, Janet Colarusso ’82 was selected as the Ivy Player of the Year, culminating her brilliant career that included two trips to the National Sports Festival. In 1982, goaltender Nada Sellers was the first Eli player to be named Ivy Rookie of the Year. The 1984 squad boasted two honorable mention All-Americans in Sellers and forward Cyndie Bieler. In 1985, Sellers was named a Mid-East All-American, while Colleen Carbery and Lynne Brookes received honorable mention All-America recognition.

Wrestling Three Former Buckeyes Earn Spots On Olympic Trials Team Current Buckeyes Bowen, Hyatt and Newbill named to Team II Jan. 24, 2003 COLUMBUS, Ohio - Three former Ohio State synchronized swimmers have earned spots on the 2003 United States Olympic Trials Team. Gina Pietras (1994-97), Becky Jasontek (1994-97) and Mary Hofer (1999-2002) were named to the squad this week and will have the opportunity to compete for the United States National Team that will participate in the 2004 Summer Olympic Games to be held in Athens, Greece. The squad of 13, also known as the U.S. National Team I, will regroup in March at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., for further evaluation. In May, the group will be cut from 13 to a delegation size of 10 for the World Championships, and will once again downsize to nine in May of 2004 for the Olympic Games. The trials process began at the 2002 U.S. Nationals and progresses over four phases throughout the year. The athletes are tested in eight technical elements, then evaluated by 13 judges during each of four pre-determined routine swims. All scores throughout the trials process are confidential until teams are announced. Current Buckeyes Victoria Bowen (Sr./Plano, Texas), Suzanna Hyatt (Sr./Indianapolis, Ind.) and
