81. Florida Hospital - Residency Program
experience and commitment make our programs among the Dr. Bigsby joined FloridaHospital East Orlando in of Medical Education and family Practice Residency
http://residency.floridahospital.com/
Welcome.
Like Dr. Andrew Taylor Still, the founders of Florida Hospital believed physical healing by itself was not enough. They believed, as we do today, a person's health was closely linked with their spiritual, emotional and mental well-being; and they sought to provide a place where these aspects of the whole person could be healed and nurtured. Today, more than 90 years later, Florida Hospital is committed to these same goals, and to providing excellent medical care through state-of-the-art services, equipment and training. As a result of this commitment, the ultimate goal of our training programs is to help family physicians become well-rounded, competent clinical practitioners. We do this by offering opportunities to provide high-quality, comprehensive medical care for the whole person. We also offer a mix of experiences with the technology of a tertiary care hospital and the personal contact of a community hospital. I hope you'll take a few minutes to look through this web site and learn more about Florida Hospital East Orlando's outstanding medical education programs. We believe our unique balance of knowledge, experience and commitment make our programs among the finest available anywhere. Dr. Bigsby joined Florida Hospital East Orlando in January of 1996 as the Director of Medical Education and Family Practice Residency Program Director.

Section 8 Family Self Sufficiency
Section 8 Housing Assistance and Tenant Based Rental Assistance Section 8 Housing Assistance and Tenant Based Rental Assistance are a federally funded rental assistance programs administered by the Division of Housing and Community Development. The programs are designed to provide very low-income families, elderly, handicapped or disabled individuals with safe, decent, sanitary, housing units at an affordable price. They are also designed to provide increased housing opportunities and improve living standards for economically disadvantaged families and individuals. Persons who qualify for assistance are issued a housing voucher and authorized to find a housing unit that meets the basic needs of the family. The unit selected by the family must pass a Housing Quality Standard (HQS) inspection to assure the unit meets the minimum standards of the Section 8 program. The rent charged by the owner must be reasonable in comparison to similar housing units it that area. Once the basic criteria have been met, the housing office prepares a Housing Assistance Payments (HAP) contract on behalf of the family. Under this contract, the housing agency (HA) agrees to make monthly rental subsidy payments to the landlord on behalf of the family.

FHIC Community Programs Florida Family AIDS Network (FAN) BACKGROUND
Florida Family AIDS Network is a Ryan White Care Act Title IV funded program administered by the University of South Florida, College of Public Health through the Florida Health Information Center. The goals of Title IV programs are:
  • to foster the development and support of comprehensive care infrastructures, including primary care, that increase access to culturally competent, family-centered, community-based coordinated care; to emphasize prevention within the comprehensive care system in order to reduce the spread of HIV-infection to vulnerable populations; and to link comprehensive systems of care with HIV/AIDS clinical trials and other research activities, increasing access for children, youth, women and their families.
MISSION
Florida Family AIDS Network (FAN) in Central and Southwest Florida pursues a vision to serve children and families who are infected and affected with HIV, through a family-centered, coordinated, community-based comprehensive system of care which includes medical care, case management, clinical trials, as well as by educating public and professionals about HIV/AIDS. Program Components Perinatal HIV Program
Developmental Intervention Program
Another key component of the FAN program which is consistent with Ryan White Title IV goals is to provide linkages to clinical trials and other research. Through this program, referrals are made to a current study which offers long term follow up of infants and children who are exposed to antiretrovirals. The Developmental Intervention Program was implemented to identify, monitor and follow infants and children who were exposed to AZT and other antiretrovirals.
