About us
Send me a Brochure Tripbuilder (Shopping Cart) Send me a Quotation ... Pacific News Member of French Polynesia (Introduction) French Polynesia is known for its spectacular nature. Razorsharp mountaintops, stunning turquoise lagoons, and abundance of beautiful flowers. Also below the water there is a natures paradise to be found in French Polynesia. However prepare for high costs (French Polynesia is 30 to 50% more expansive than most other South Pacific destinations) and the common language is French (you probably find that only some of the younger people will speaking english). For more information on French Polynesia, click on the button "About the Country" or for information on a specific island region, click on the map below on the island of your choice. Papeete is the capital of Tahiti, the largest island, nicknamed 'the island of love'. It is a visitor's first port of call because of the international airport of Tahiti-Faa'a which is located here. Moorea is the sister island, some 17kms north west of Papeete. Here the tranquil waters of Cooks Bay and Opunohu Bay lap at its majestic volcanic peaks which thrust into the sky.

and just south of the equator, midway between Australia and South America. It is in the same time zone as Hawaii, but because it is in the Southern Hemisphere, the seasons are reversed. Faaa, the international airport of Tahiti, is regularly served by frequent jet connections, linking Tahiti with the west coasts of the United States and South America as well as with the Australasian region. The airport is a pleasant 10 minute drive from Papeete, the capital city.

When Bougainville arrived on Tahiti in 1768, he deemed it the "New Cythera," recalling the ancient Greek island of Aphrodite and its bower of unlimited pleasures. Palm trees swayed languidly in warm tropical breezes; lagoons rippled sapphire blue; and reefs shimmered in hues of gold, vermilion and peach. We invite you to share all these pleasures, and to venture beyond for a look at the cultures and traditions of Polynesia. Begin with two nights in Papeete, the capital of Tahiti, at the luxurious Beachcomber Inter-Continental, and discover at the Gauguin Museum how this tropical paradise inspired the artist. Board the 320-passenger, six-star deluxe m.s. Paul Gauguin for a seven-night cruise to Raiatea, Taha'a, a private lagoon, exotic Bora Bora and the dramatic peaks of Moorea, with all meals included. On each island, you will have a number of tour options - snorkeling among the dazzling coloured sea life, or touring the islands' vanilla, coffee and pineapple plantations, or perhaps a visit to ancient Polynesian temples. In an age when "getting away from it all" seems more important than ever, Tahiti and the Society Islands remain the quintessential South Pacific Paradise.

For more information Check out the "Tid Bits of Info" Section What's so special about Tahiti and her islands?
This is an easy one because we are talking about the most beautiful islands in the world. The water is of breathtaking clarity, teeming with rainbows of tropical fish. The palm-shaded beaches are pristine and secluded. Majestic, magnificent and monumental -rugged volcanic mountains reach for azure skies, while cascading waterfalls flow through emerald green valleys. Perhaps the most rare and precious of gems you will discover are the people with their sparkling eyes and radiant smiles. And let's not forget to mention the flowers, food, music and dance. All of which will delight the senses. Why should I go to Tahiti rather than the Caribbean, Mexico or Hawaii?
If you want a mass production style of vacation with lots of tourists, enormous hotels, then the Caribbean, Mexico and Hawaii are your destinations. However, if your prefer a special experience, spectacular scenery, few tourist and no giant hotels, then Tahiti is for you. Hawaii gets more tourists in a day than Tahiti does in a year. Will I have to put up with vendors and beggars?
