Collection levels for Genealogy I Introduction Genealogy, the study of family history, is defined by class CS. It includes compiled family histories from around the world, royalty, nobility, and peerage information, and personal and family names by country and nationality. II Scope In addition to class CS, other related material of great significance to genealogy is found in the areas of archival resources, biography, church history, folklore, geography, history, and local history. Important genealogical resources are also found in special collections of manuscripts, maps and atlases, microforms, newspapers, photographs, rare books, CD-ROMs and other electronic forms, housed in various custodial divisions of the Library. III Research strengths The Library of Congress has one of the world's major collections of U.S. and foreign genealogical publications. The Library's genealogy collection began as early as 1815 when Thomas Jefferson's library was purchased. The Jefferson Library included the

About the Known World Royal Genealogy
The blame for the idea which led to this rather large project can be placed squarely at the feet of Master Hector of the Black Height. It is his poem, "The Line of the North", which details all the 'begats' of Ealdormere back through the Coronets of Ealdormere, the Champions of Ealdormere, the Crowns of the Middle who had ruled over the Crown Principality of Ealdormere and finally to the Wolf, the Wilds and the Will. In preparation for Ealdormere's move to Kingdom status, Master Hector asked me if I could go hunting on the Internet for the lines of the Crowns of the Middle and the West so that he could come up with a really impressive list of begats for Ealdormere right back to the beginning of the Society. Through doing this for him, I became aware that through the "let's branch off into our own Principality/Kingdom" phenomenon, all the Royalty of the Known World are in some way related to all the other Royalty of the Known World. I found this fascinating! I also have more than a passing interest in genealogy in general, so this whole concept was far too intriguing to let slide. I decided to track the entire genealogy of the Known World Royalty - every Prince and Princess of every Principality and every King and Queen of every Kingdom. Yes, you may well call my sanity into question!

The number of areas that can be researched for information is endless. Information should include: names, dates, places and relationships. We all came to our present location from some where else, including foreign countries, and it will be necessary to have a working knowage of history and maps. Dates when areas split or combined.

    38. Why Genealogy?
ancestors lived and went about their lives, whether they were royalty or scoundrels Thisinformation is distributed to everyone around the world, free of
    http://www.carman.net/why.htm
B esides the obvious fun and excitement of learning how our ancestors lived and went about their lives, whether they were royalty or scoundrels, there is also the consideration of finding and identifying those people who are part of our extended family and make up who we are. W e believe in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that those who were not afforded the opportunity to be baptized and to be "sealed" to their spouse, children and parents in this mortal life on earth can be, by proxy, after death. This is done by church member in LDS Temples throughout the world. Ancestors for whom these ordinances are performed are free to choose whether or not they accept these ordinances, so it is still up to them. But after death, they cannot do it for themselves. This is why it is so important that we identify our ancestors. If we do not know who they are, the ordinances cannot be performed on their behalf. To build an eternal family of all those who preceded us, that we may all be together again with Heavenly Father. And you will meet your ancestors on the other side. T he Savior told Peter, "And I will give unto you thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven" (Matthew 16:19). Those who accept the Savior's teachings after this life need earthly ordinances of baptism and eternal marriage for this to happen (see John 3:5, 1 Corinthians 15:29).
