INTRODUCTION
This is a compilation of acronyms and abbreviations commonly used within HSE. It is based on information gathered from all parts of HSE. Where possible we have verified the information from printed sources. Abbreviations readily available elsewhere, have not been included in this edition. Previous editions of this publication have been restricted to HSE use only. However this edition and all subsequent editions will be disseminated to a wider audience via HSE's pages on the Internet. Information is arranged alphabetically. Those entries marked with an asterisk * relate directly to HSC/HSE. This publication is revised annually. New editions are usually available in July each year. Any HSE personnel requiring additional copies, please contact your site Information Centre or Information Liaison Officer. If you have any suggestions on ways we can improve this publication, we would like to hear from you.
