London is the minerals capital of world, where a major proportion of global capital investment in mining is raised and the most active metals trading takes place. Markgraf eventually met with the program director in Chiang Mai, Thailand, to discuss the details of the program. "We wanted to provide an opportunity for Hmong-American students to relate to where their families came from," Markgraf said. Although the program isn't limited to Hmong students, he said the majority of applicants have been Hmong-Americans. The summer program, hosted by the International Sustainable Development Studies Institute at Chiang Mai University, will run from June 3 to July 5, 2002. The application deadline is Jan. 15, 2002.
