    Program Description for Horticulture
    Graduate Programs.
The Department of Horticulture offers graduate programs leading to the degrees of Master of Science (M.S.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in a number of commodity and discipline-oriented areas. In addition to individualized programs leading to degrees in traditional areas of horticulture, students may develop a plan of study in an interdepartmental program, such as the Purdue Plant Biology (Interdisciplinary) Program or the Purdue Genetics (Interdisciplinary) Program. An option to proceed directly to the Ph.D. degree without the usual intermediate M.S. degree is available for able students with career goals in highly technical fields. A nonthesis option leading to a terminal Master of Agriculture (M. Agr.) degree also is available.
