At the Virginia Department of Health, was a key player in implementing an agency-specific, comprehensive overhaul of Virginia State's compensation and classification system. Quickly learned the new system, became a go-to-person for clarification, and was chosen to assist in writing new policy for new system. As Administrative specialist in Coast Guard, provided personnel human resources support for some 100+ personnel. This included pay adjustments, tracking advancement, recording survivor benefit information, tracking time-off and sick days, studying federal law as it pertained to the human resources field, and review of benefits. Was also an executive admin assistant to the First Coast Guard District Commander. Professionally dealt with many high level persons in the government and private sector (for example, then, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Colin Powell). Successfully managed all administrative functions of the entire office.
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY Earned degree in Management Information Systems with honors from U-Mass Boston. Have used computers successfully for 8+ years in every job and organization. Learned how to use them effectively to manage an organization's many goals. Current expertise includes extensive use of MS Office 2000/97, Windows 95, 98 and NT, some experience with Novel Networks, training personnel, troubleshooting problems with software and hardware, and general day-to-day computer challenges some very technical in nature.
