Somethin's Cooking Mains Gulash There are as many Guljash recipes as there are Hungarian women. This one is also real Hungarian You'll need: - about 500gr(1.1 lb) minced/ground meat( beef, or beef/pork or lamb) about 150gr(5.5oz) sliced onion 1 stock cube(no msg) at least 15gr (0.6oz) sweet(mild) ground paprika about 3 tbsp of balsamic vinager about 125ml water about 175ml creme fraiche ( or half cooking cream/yoghurt). Salt, pepper ,fresh parsely, fresh pressed garlic 1 egg bread crumbs oil for frying.
Mix your ground meat with the egg, salt pepper, bread crumbs and 1 clove of freshly pressed garlic. Make meat balls the size of the swedish ones***. Glaze the onions in some oil. Add 1 pressed clove of garlic, the meatballs and fry till they start coloring nicely. Now add the (warm)water and the stcok cube with 2 tbsp of balsamic vinegar. Let the lot simmer for about 15 minutes. Now add the ground paprika, the sour cream(or cream-yoghurt mixture). Stir gently. Bring the lot to taste with salt, pepper, and maybe add a little more vinegar and paprika (taste!). Finish off with a lot of fresh parsely. *** What is the size of a Swedish meatball? It should just fit in an avarage mouth in one bite, but you would be more comfortable taking it in two!!!!!!!! | |
