Wines of the United States
The west coast of the United States is a major producer of wine in today's market. Americans' interest in wine has helped her industry to grow during the past few decades, turning The United States into one of the largest producers of quality wines.
California
California is perhaps the biggest producer of American wine. Many of the new technologies used in wine making were pioneered in this state, and California wines now rank among the highest quality wines in the world. The wines from the Napa Valley of California are very popular and are even competitive with French wines.
Napa Valley uses about 80% of its workable land for the cultivation of grapes. The rich soil and balanced weather greatly benefit grape growing. Wines from this region possess a big taste and are extremely flavourful. For the most part, the vineyards of Napa attempt to emulate French wines and have been successful in these endeavours.

Purpose President Membership Vice-President ... Executive Director Purpose: In 1892 the Idaho Education Association founders adopted their first constitution. This documents said that the organization's purpose was to improve the teaching profession, to promote child and teacher welfare, and to advance education through the efforts of members working together. While the Association has grown and constantly reviews its direction, those purposes remain the IEA's unaltered foundation. Membership: IEA's total membership was 11,681 as of Jan. 15, 2002. Governance: For distribution of services to members, the IEA is divided into nine regions with offices in Coeur d'Alene (Region 1), Lewiston (Region 2), Twin Falls (Region 4), Pocatello (Region 5), Idaho Falls (Region 6), and Boise (Regions 3, 7, 8 and 9). With more than 400 local representatives in attendance, the annual Delegate Assembly for this year will be April 11-12, 2003 in Boise. Between annual meetings, the IEA is governed by a 30-member board of directors elected from throughout the state. Local affiliates in almost every Idaho school district represent their members in collective bargaining, member rights, public relations, academic freedom, grievance resolution, and a myriad of other services.

85. State Market Comparisons
idaho's two hospital referral regions, the two regions in North Dakota and SouthDakota, and the Great Falls region are all below the physician supply standard
http://www.bber.umt.edu/healthcare/statemarketcomparisons.htm
STATE COMPARISONS OF MARKETS
Cost effective levels of hospital resource deployment, physician staffing, and medical procedure use are not well-defined. Besides the demographic and insurance differences among regions, for which the data have been adjusted, a number of other factors affect variations in utilization of health resources and medical services. The prevalence of diseases varies over different areas of the country, affecting the amount of treatment rendered. In areas where the traditional view of the physician as a reliable agent for the patient still prevails, variations in diagnostic and surgical procedures could be related to physician factors, such as specialist availability and incentives. Diffusion of technology and information could account for some regional variations in medical care, since the adoption of new technology requires time.
Many comparisons among regional benchmarks are possible The Dartmouth Atlas of Health Care data. Montana's three regions can be compared to one another and also to other regions that are similar in terms of resident population levels, geographic size, and location in the Western United States. Applying these criteria to the Dartmouth Atlas data yields seven additional areas: Grand Junction, Colo.; Casper, Wyo.; Yakima, Wash.; Rapid City, S.D.; Bismarck, N.D.; and Boise and Idaho Falls in Idaho.
Three additional benchmarks are included: the average rates for the United States; rates in the Minneapolis, Minn. referral region, and rates for a two-million-member HMO. Minneapolis, Minnesota is a benchmark used throughout the Atlas because of its "ability to deliver an adequate level of care for defined populations within reasonable constraints." The demographics of Minneapolis' population and the penetration of managed care (39 percent of the market) provide a cost effective market benchmark for comparison to other regions. Comparisons between an HMO and community hospitals in markets must be done carefully. Community commitments, cost structures, and profit incentives differ widely between for-profit and not-for-profit institutions.

What is SWITA?
SWITA
stands for Southwest Idaho Travel Association. SWITA was formed as the regional organization to process travel and tourism grants from the Idaho Travel Council. Grant funds are a 2% tax collected by the innkeepers and campgrounds in the state. In 1981 the Idaho Legislature enacted a law whereby a 2% tax would be levied on transient sleeping rooms and overnight private campgrounds. The legislation mandates that the funds from the 2% tax be distributed as follows: 45% goes to fund the state tourism program, 10% pays administrative costs at the state office and 45% is returned to the regions in which it was collected in the form of annual grants. A travel council was set up to oversee and govern the tourism office and the tourism grants. The council is made up of a representative from each of the seven travel regions and one at-large member. SWITA is Region 3 - which is comprised of the following ten counties: Ada, Adams, Boise, Canyon, Elmore, Gem, Owyhee, Payette, Valley and Washington. Funds are returned to the regions through grants which are approved by the Travel Council. There is a formal grant procedure which must be followed and the grant applications are presented once each year for approval. Upon approval, it is up to the grant recipient to activate the program. This means while the grant is open the grantee is responsible for the administration. Therefore, without a regional organization of some type, this money could not be used or grants processed.

Price: $49.95s
ISBN 0-89301-208-4 In Building with Logs: Western Log Construction in Context Jennifer Eastman Attebery contributes to the New Western History by exploring how the log cabin myth is part of the larger myth of the Frontier West. She argues that scholars interested in understanding log construction must see beyond the myth to look for evidence of the log cabin's particular meanings within the communities that used log buildings in Idaho. We can read those meanings by looking for their implicit expression in such patterns as the choice and quality of construction techniques, the original use of buildings, and their reuse over time. Attebery uses survey data about log buildings to define two broad regions of Idaho log construction in the nineteenth century. Idaho Territory of 1860 received a rapid influx of Euro-Americans into two areas that were isolated from each other by the Snake River Plain and the mass of central Idaho mountains. Into southeast Idaho came Mormons seeking new townsites; into north Idaho came miners seeking gold. These two groups, both well-versed in Euro-American log construction, created quite distinct communities that coincide with two log construction regions. The first region is composed of Mormon villages and farms in southeast Idaho, and the second consists of mining communities in north Idaho.

International Applied Phytotechnologies Conference, Chicago, March 4, 2003 Intercode Comparisons for Simulating the Water Balance of Engineered Covers in Semiarid Regions Bridget Scanlon, Marty Christman, Robert C. Reedy, Indrek Porro, Jirka Simunek, and Gerald N. Flerchinger Abstract The water balance of engineered covers is critical for assessing the performance of covers. Because we need to predict cover performance for long-time periods, we rely on numerical models to predict the water balance. The purpose of this study was to compare water-balance simulation results from 7 different codes, HELP, HYDRUS-1D, SHAW, SoilCover, SWIM, UNSAT-H, and VS2DTI, using 1-3 yr water-balance monitoring data from nonvegetated engineered covers (3 m deep) in warm (Texas) and cold (Idaho) desert regions. Simulation results from most codes were similar and reasonably approximated measured water-balance components.
