So You Want To Learn Japanese.
You've eaten at a few Japanese restaurants, seen some anime, hosted an exchange student, and had a Japanese girlfriend. And now, somewhere in the back of your tiny brain, you think that Japanese would be a good language to learn. Hey, you could translate video games! Or Manga! Or even Anime! Pick up Japanese girls, impress your friends! Maybe you'll even go to Japan and become an anime artist! Yeah! Sounds like a great idea!
So you head down to the library, pick up some books with titles like "How To Teach Yourself Japanes In Just 5 Seconds A Day While Driving Your Car To And From The Post Office" and "Japanese For Complete And Total, Utter Fools Who Should Never Procreate". Hey, you already know a few words from your manga collection/girlfriend/anime. Excited and impressed with your new knowledge, you begin to think: "Hey. Maybe, just maybe , i could do this for a living! Or even major in Japanese! Great Idea, Right?
WRONG.
I don't care how many anime tapes you've watched, how many Japanese girlfriends you've had, or books you've read, You don't know Japanese . Not only that, majoring in the godforsaken language is

Free Light Japanese to learn Japanese language
With "Free Light Japanese" you can learn Japanese writing system (Hiragana, Katakana and 1945 Joyo Kanji), vocabulary (and soon sentences) and pronunciation by using multimedia techniques. It supports 2 modes - teacher's mode and student's mode.
Only Free Light Japanese has successfully incorporated the following 3 advanced technologies into the same product.
  • multimedia based product:
By combining pictures, sounds and texts, your Japanese course will be never a painful activity.
  • fast kanji look-up dictionary:
You are wasting your precious time by using a paper dictionary. Why don't you let the computer to find kanji you need?
  • generator based concept:
You can make your own exercises by importing pictures and texts from any painting programs, scanners or Internet, so your tutorial materials are indefinitely expandable.
Screen Shots
Click on one of the numbers in a picture to learn how to pronounce and write the items in Japanese. In this screen the numbers are also in Japanese but may be used the classic Arabic numerals too. The size of picture could be fairly large because the program can import ones up to 1024x1024 pixels.
Beside Hiragana and Katakana (phonetic letters of Japanese origin), you can learn the most important Kanji characters (ideogram letters of Chinese origin). Each Kanji can be reached by 4 different methods: component, number of strokes, pronunciation and English meaning. It is really a pleasure to see different Kanji to appear immediately by just changing the access methods.

This is a self-initiated project to guide Japanese learners and Japanese to master kanji (Japanese/Chinese Characters) with minimal effort. While I was studying Japanese, I realized that conventional methods for learning Kanji took too much time and effort. So, I found and compiled some methods to make learning Japanese fun and easy. I don't want to show you a sea of the information or confuse you with a lot of Internet mumbo jumbo, I just want to guide you through the rough seas to dig up golden treasure from the dearth of available information out there.

80. Japan Journal
After reading about and studying japanese language and management at university, the author visits Japan for the first time in January 1998 for 10 days.
http://www.unorg.com/japanjournal.htm
Japan Journal After reading about and studying Japanese language and management at university, I was delighted to finally make my first visit there in January 1998 for 10 days. This is a personal report based on my own observations and interpretations of them. I have also used other books and articles about Japan and insight from an astute observer of Japanese culture and supporter of unorganization based in Japan- John Bardos. I have sought to communicate truth- but naturally a few mis-interpretations will have crept in. Most of what I observed and learned whilst in Japan is listed here, and I am confident that it is much more right than wrong. Supreme politeness and honesty I really enjoyed the politeness and honestly that I found in Japan. I enjoyed bowing my head all the time and trying to out-polite my hosts! Certainly, Japanese people are very helpful to non-Japanese- on a couple of occasions I stopped amidst a sea of people and looked lost. Seconds later, people voluntarily stopped and were asking me where I wanted to go. Twice, people who I asked directions from actually accompanied me over a kilometer towards my destination- once, trying to find the site of the Coca-Cola Olympic torch relay on Route 248 in Tokyo (a very fashionable area) and once trying to find some company offices. It was probably easier for them to show me than explain it to me!
