John F. Kennedy National Historic Site preserves the birthplace in 1917 and boyhood home of the 35th President of the United States. The modest frame house in suburban Boston was also the first home shared by the president's father and mother, Joseph P. and Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy, and represents the social and political beginnings of one of the world's most prominent families. Shortly after President Kennedy's assassination in 1963, his family repurchased the birthplace and restored it as a memorial to him under the close supervision of Rose Kennedy. The John F. Kennedy National Historic Site was established in 1969 following the family's donation of the home to the National Park Service. Park Rangers present guided tours of the birthplace, as well as the nearby neighborhood including homes, schools, and church associated with the Kennedy family. DESIGNATIONS

    President John F. Kennedy
    Ft. Worth, Texas
    November 22, 1963
It was a cool, drizzly morning in Ft. Worth, Texas. President and Mrs. Kennedy, who had spent the night in that town, planned to leave for nearby Dallas following breakfast . The Kennedys would travel the short distance to Love Field aboard Air Force One. Greeting a crowd of 12,000 people in front of the Hotel Texas that morning, JFK commented on various matters - including the absence of his wife. Mrs. Kennedy, he noted, wasn’t quite ready. But, as he reminded everyone, "She always looks so much better than the rest of us." Some of the President’s words were eerily prophetic. In just a few hours, people everywhere would be utterly shocked by just how "dangerous and uncertain" the world had become. GO TO CHAPTER 2 Author: Carole D. Bos, J.D.

April 9, 1948 The creation of a Jewish state in Palestine was one of the most divisive issues of the Truman administration. On November 29, 1947, the United Nations agreed that Palestine, which had been a British mandate since 1922, would be divided into two new states: one Jewish, one Arab. The British would withdraw on May 14, 1948, when this partition plan would take effect. As the deadline approached, U.S. policy on this question appeared to be in disarray. President Truman secretly assured the Jewish Agency for Palestine of U.S. support for the plan, while the State Department announced support of an alternative plan. As the violence between Jews and Arabs in Palestine escalated and as the British prepared to withdraw, President Truman, subjected to intense pressures, made his choice. On May 14, 1948, just 11 minutes after the State of Israel was proclaimed in Tel Aviv, President Truman released a statement recognizing the new Jewish state.

Reporting the Murder of President Kennedy
President John Kennedy travelled to Texas in late 1963, preparing for his re-election campaign. The trip ended with one of the most shocking crimes in American history. What really happened that day is still debated. Several newspersons have recalled how they covered the story. At the Anchor Desk A network anchorman had to try to keep his composure while telling and coordinating the incredible story live hour after hour. Here is how Walter Cronkite, CBS News, remembers it. On and Off the Press Bus A network reporter was there in the press bus a few vehicles back of the president. It was a routine, monotonous trip until the shots. The newsman had to get the facts, and then reach NBC New York. Here is the story of Robert MacNeil, NBC News.

Assassination Research, Inc., a non-profit corporation, has been created to promote scholarly publications, support symposia, and initiate litigation (when appropriate) to advance the cause of educating the American people about the death of JFK. Our present legal strategy is to bring complaints against the applicable Commissioners of Education/Boards of Education in all 50 states, if necessary, plus the District of Columbia, if required, for purchasing and distributing false information about the death of our 35th President by means of history textbooks purchased by American taxpayers. There is abundant objective and scientific evidenceincluding fabrication of the autopsy X-rays, the alteration of autopsy photographs, substitution of another brain for that of JFK, and the editing of the Zapruder filmto establish the existence of a conspiracy and cover-up in the assassination of John F. Kennedy. It has become increasingly clear to serious students of the case that Lee Oswald was framed as the "lone assassin" with manufactured evidence. Our history books do not reflect the true history of our country.

    Biography

John F. Kennedy, whose ancestors came from Ireland, was the first Roman Catholic to become PRESIDENT of the United States. Aged 43 at the time of his election in 1960, he was also the youngest person ever elected to the country's highest office, although he was not the youngest to serve in it. Theodore ROOSEVELT was not quite 43 when the assassination of President William MCKINLEY in 1901 elevated him to the presidency. Like McKinley, Kennedy was to die at the hands of an assassin. A confrontation with the Soviet Union in Berlin and the discovery of Soviet nuclear missiles in Cuba brought the United States close to the brink of war during Kennedy's presidency. His support of demands by blacks for equality in civil rights shook the DEMOCRATIC Party's long-standing grip on the South and tested his political leadership. Racial integration, economics, and other issues stirred fierce antagonisms throughout the United States. But for millions of Americans, the young president held great charm and even greater hopes, and his violent death in 1963 brought many people to tears. Early Life John Fitzgerald Kennedy was born on May 29, 1917, in Brookline, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston, into a family of wealth and strong political tradition. Both his grandfathers, Patrick J. Kennedy and John F. Fitzgerald, had been elected to public offices. Fitzgerald, in fact, had been mayor of Boston and had served in

On January 20, Franklin D. Roosevelt became the first U.S. president sworn into office in January. It was his second of four inaugurations; the first had been held fours years earlier on March 4, 1933. Roosevelt's first inauguration had been shadowed by the onset of the Great Depression. Within a week of taking office, the new President had declared a Federal Bank Holiday. Roosevelt's Second Inaugural Address was optimistic about the gains that had been made during his first administration, while acknowledging that much more was needed. In his speech he shared his vision of the nation's potential and challenged Americans to continue in a united effort to address poverty. Let us ask again: Have we reached the goal of our vision of that fourth day of March 1933? Have we found our happy valley? . . .
