Welcome to TBandU
the FREE health website. Good Doctors go astray when they leave their area of expertise to offer opinion when they have not studied the literature, selectively ignore information or when they let their politics, beliefs or prejudices interfere with the objectivity of their science. The object of this site is NOT to berate all doctors and medical staff. Most medical staff are wonderful and dedicated to their jobs. The purpose of this site is to make people aware that doctors do not always get it right. Some make mistakes, some are wilful, some are reckless, some are arrogant. TBandU is basically a mini search engine which includes a message board for those unable to find the infomation they need.

General Mental Health Issues
Coping With Loss - Bereavement and Grief
In our hearts, we all know that death is a part of life. In fact, death gives meaning to our existence because it reminds us how precious life is. Coping With Loss The loss of a loved one is life’s most stressful event and can cause a major emotional crisis. After the death of someone you love, you experience bereavement , which literally means “to be deprived by death.” Knowing What to Expect When a death takes place, you may experience a wide range of emotions, even when the death is expected. Many people report feeling an initial stage of numbness after first learning of a death, but there is no real order to the grieving process. Some emotions you may experience include:
  • Denial             Disbelief        Confusion   Shock             Sadness Yearning        Anger             Humiliation   Despair          Guilt
These feelings are normal and common reactions to loss. You may not be prepared for the intensity and duration of your emotions or how swiftly your moods may change. You may even begin to doubt the stability of your mental health. But be assured that these feelings are healthy and appropriate and will help you come to terms with your loss. Remember It takes time to fully absorb the impact of a major loss. You never stop missing your loved one, but the pain eases after time and allows you to go on with your life. Five year treatment study funded by National Institute of mental health and coordinated by Massachusetts general Hospital.
http://www.stepbd.org
STEP-BD is the largest treatment study ever conducted for bipolar disorder, also known as manic-depressive illness. It is a long-term outpatient project that aims to find out which treatments, or combinations of treatments, are most effective for treating episodes of depression and mania and for preventing recurrent episodes. The five-year project will enroll approximately 5,000 volunteers with bipolar disorder into the care of specially trained clinicians. Select a link below to learn more about the STEP-BD program. You have entered a web site that describes an NIMH-funded collaborative study on the treatment of bipolar disorder. If you are seeking immediate help for treatment of bipolar disorder, we recommend that you contact your clinician or your nearest emergency room. This web site is not set up to provide help or advice to individuals about their bipolar disorder, nor to family members or friends of individuals with bipolar disorder.
If you are interested in getting general information about bipolar disorder, you can visit the following web site: www.nimh.nih.gov/publicat/bipolarmenu.cfm
