Nebraska Government On The Web Jim Shaw Many agencies of the State of Nebraska have created websites that often provide access to documents which previously have seen very limited distribution. The state agency websites vary considerably in size and structure, but for the most part they are easy to navigate. Point your browser to the main State of Nebraska website at www.nol.org and then click the "State agencies" link to find a comprehensive directory of state websites. Note, too, the "Other States’ Sites" link. This link produces a clickable map of the United States, and you can jump to any state’s main website from there. Two years ago the Nebraska Library Commission began a pilot project to explore the costs and effort involved in mounting full text documents on the Web and maintaining them for the long term. The Commisson chose to use Adobe Acrobat software to create page images which duplicate the original document. The ultimate goal is to create a clearinghouse on the Web that all state agencies may use and which constitutes a "one-stop shopping" source for Nebraska documents. Currently there are 43 wineries registered with the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission for the $500 fee. If this fee is decreased, it will help consumers in the state get a wider selection of wines as well as make Nebraska a "little more friendly" in terms of shipping issues..although it still doesn't officially make us a reciprocal state.
