These locally directed, federal and state-supported programs help to improve health care by establishing partnerships between the institutions that train health professionals and the communities that need them the most. The New York State AHEC System was established in 1998 as a response to the unequal distribution of the health care workforce. At the local level, AHEC represents real facilities that are run by community-based organizations that carry out a wide range of health care education activities within a region. The New York State AHEC System is funded by the federal Department of Health and Human Services (Bureau of Health Professions), New York State’s Health Care Reform Act of 2000, and local community support.

Parents Teachers ... Statistical Summaries Chancellor’s Letter to Parents Regarding Children First Dear Parents and Guardians:
I am writing to discuss some of the practical aspects of the reorganization of the public school system that support our city-wide Children First reform measures. I know that, while there is widespread agreement that change is necessary to improve our school system, change raises questions and can lead to uncertainty. I hope this letter will help to answer some of your questions and provide you with useful information about the reorganization. At the heart of our education reforms is the guiding vision that we must focus on each individual school in order to raise student achievement across the City. We are well aware that parents do not send their children to a school district or a school system - they send their children to a school.

I know that some parents have been concerned that the reorganization will affect which school their child attends. This is not the case. The reorganization
