Center for Youth Development Established in 1998, the Center for Youth Development (CYD) is an initiative of United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania that serves as a regional training, technical assistance, and resource unit to help public and private providers of out-of-school time programs assess and improve the quality of their programs. CYD also seeks to help the general public, funders, and public policy leaders understand and appreciate the set of youth development principles that underpin all effective youth activities. Community education strategies, include providing information about youth services, model programs, program outcomes, standards, and best practices through a website, quarterly newsletter, annual conference, speaker's bureau, and a resource lending library. CYD is funded mainly by the William Penn Foundation and the Mayor's Children's Investment Strategy, and in 2001/2002 worked with approximately 285 selected agency network programs, serving over 51,000 youth.

PA EITC Credits Donations THE LANCASTER FOUNDATION FOR EDUCATIONAL ENRICHMENT The Lancaster Foundation for Educational Enrichment was established in 1989 by an insightful group of civic leaders. The Foundation promotes educational excellence in the School District of Lancaster by strengthening community participation and by providing support for initiatives not funded by current tax revenues. Through the ongoing Venture Grant program, District staff may apply for funds that give teachers an opportunity to put innovative ideas into practice. Venture grants are effective because they put funds directly into the classroom. In the past two years, approximately $30,000 has been provided though these Grants. The LFEE has been approved to receive Pennsylvania Educational Investment Tax Credits (EITC), and these donations directly support Venture Grants. The Foundation manages resources for eighteen scholarships, given annually to District students. These scholarships have been established either by individuals and families to honor a particular person or by a bequest. Additionally, due to its non-profit 501 (c) (3) status, the Foundation is a partner with the District in receiving grants for special uses.

Fellows

EPFP serves professionals in education and related agencies who have had diverse professional experiences. Fellows work in local school systems; institutions of higher education; parochial and private schools; state agencies education, commerce, employment, economic development, transportation, corrections, etc.; professional associations; and community-based organizations. They include principals, program managers, directors of research and evaluation, school superintendents, college deans, and legislative staff. The diversity of Fellows also is reflected in their race, ethnic background and gender. Fellows remain in their work positions full time while taking part in the program and use their work settings to examine important leadership and policy issues in their states and across the nation. Alumni
Individuals who complete the EPFP year become part of IEL's national network of EPFP alumni. The alumni groups emerge naturally as Fellows seek to maintain connections with one another and gain access to other members of the IEL network who have moved on to other policy positions. Sites occasionally offer professional development and networking activities for alumni. The Alumni Directory serves as a valuable resource for current and former Fellows. It provides them with access to individuals at the local, state and national levels who may have dealt with similar problems or who can supply valuable information on a wide variety of education and human service issues.
