Spiny Mouse Pet Care and Maintenance Information Spiny mice are incredibly simple animals to care for, and require no specialized care or maintenance, other than their need to be protected from low temperatures or severe drafts. Being natural desert creatures, Spiny mice do best with a low humidity level and in temperatures ideally no lower than 75 degrees, and certainly no lower than 65 degrees at any time. Probably the most ideal cage for these mice is a good sized aquarium with a tight fitting lid, and this is especially a good idea if they are being kept in a location where temperature may be a concern. A reptile heater can be attached to the bottom or back of an aquarium to provide radiant heat, and the glass sides naturally help to protect against cool draft. Two mice can comfortably live in a 10 gallon, but for any more than that a 20 long aquarium would be a better size. You can, of course, go even larger, just remember that length and width is far more useful than height to them. Under no circumstances should a single spiny mouse be kept as a pet. They are extremely social animals who naturally live in large groups and are very socially interactive. At the very least, two animals can do quite well together and require no more care or space than one would. The added benefit of keeping two or more mice together, beyond their happiness and health, is getting to watch the wide range of fascinating social interactions that take place between them. With their extremely social nature, two males can even be kept together quite comfortably if introduced at a young age, and almost any combination of mice will live happily together if introduced into neutral territory (a clean cage with fresh bedding) and given plenty of space.

They have a thin stretch of skin between their front and back legs which allows them to "glide" through the air when they leap from place to place. They can reach 150 feet in one jump! In the wild they live about four years, but with proper care in captivity they can live ten to fifteen years. An adult Sugar Glider has a body about five inches long and a six inch, that about a foot long, nose to tail. They got their name, Sugar Gliders, for their fondness for the sweet sap that comes from the bark of certain eucalypt trees. This is why it is almost necessary to have at least two gliders, or you need to spent at least a couple hours a day with your individual glider. If a Sugar Glider does not get enough attention, it becomes very depressed and may even die. Gliders recognize each other and humans by there own individual scent and will become attached to you and will seek your attention. In addition, they us a variety of vocal sounds to communicate between each other. This little creature is nocturnal, so it will love to be awake at night. They do not like the bright sunlight! So don't try and take them out into it.

Introduction Snake keeping is an old human pastime dating back thousands of years. In modern times, many people keep boas and pythons as pets, appreciating them both as companions and for their beauty. Quiet, easy to keep and affectionate, these pets are enjoying a resurgent popularity. The most commonly kept species include Red Tailed Boas, Reticulated Pythons, Burmese Pythons, and Ball Pythons. All these animals are from tropical and semitropical climates and are long lived (20+ years depending on the species). Housing Housing is one of the most important factor in keeping pet snakes healthy. Cleanliness and temperature must be kept in mind when designing enclosures for your pet python or boa. The cage itself must be of a smooth, nonporous surface without sharp edges or corners. Plastic and glass are the ideal for this task. The area must be large enough for the pet to stretch out a little. Bedding must also of a cleanable nonporous nature or easily disposable. Astroturf and newspaper are the best choices. Wood shavings are a poor choice for bedding due to ability to retain water and sharp edges. Wire tops are acceptable but must be high enough for the animal to have to exert effort to rub against. Water for bathing and drinking should be provided at all times. The dish should be large enough to accommodate the pet and shallow enough to keep the humidity in the cage low.
